this au will be discontinued. sorry. the epilogue genuinely took so fucking long to write and a lot of my motivation kind of evaporated. i’m a bit sad that i won’t be able to go through with anything i had planned, but i will be sharing what i was planning on the discord servers.

it has come to my attention that we’ve hit 200 followers.

that might not seem like a big number to most people, but for me? that’s huge. i started this as some stupid idea i came up with at midnight. it suddenly got super popular- and kept growing. i didn’t expect people to like it. and yet, here we are. we have a fucking discord server, for christ’s sake. and i have a lot of people to thank. but first, i’d like to explain some of my inspirations for this series.

a lot of people have asked me what inspired me to start this. i don’t know exactly what inspired me to start it, but i know some inspirations for the story.

-i’d been wanting to make a choose-your-own-adventure story for a while.

-the uncle who works for nintendo gave me inspiration for the ending system and even some of the endings themselves.

-i’m not exactly positive where i got the inspiration for a murder mystery, but i’ve been watching the nancy drew tv show recently. it might have come from that.

-*deep, disappointed sigh* minecraft story mode chapter 6

with inspiration out of the way, i have several people i’d like to thank.

first up, i’d like to thank the incredible and supportive @dorkuspocus for being an amazing person and friend. also for drawing the pfp for this blog.

i’d also like to thank the lovely @firefly464 for helping me plan some of the story. on that note, i’d also like to thank my friend katie for helping me plan a majority of the endings.

I’ve only read chapter 15 and the end but the end honestly made me almost cry.

Knowing that it’s a murder mystery I don’t believe I’ll read too far past where I’m at now (I am very squeamish about death tbh,,) but I definitely want to check out their other work if the writing is this good! Keep up the great work!

The Game: Chapter 1 (2)

You are Daniel Lim. A few days ago, you and many of your friends were invited to a party. The date on the invitation has finally arrived. As you pull up to the address you were given, you take a minute to observe your location. From the looks of it, it’s a rather large house. Nothing out of the ordinary. There are also several cars parked already, implying that multiple people had already arrived. You open the car door and step out. You knock on the door, and it’s opened by a familiar face: Jay. Well, one of them. The Jay you’re referring to has curly red hair and devil horns. (author’s note: i’ll be referring to him as jay1 from now on for simplicity’s sake.) He greets you with a grin.

“Dan! Great of you to finally show up!”

“Hey!” You respond with a smile. He steps aside to let you in.

Inside, it’s still pretty normal. Everyone seems to be having a great time. You walk around making conversation with a couple of friends for a while.

Suddenly, the door bursts open with a bang. Everyone turns. Standing at the door is Stephen, holding several bottles of alcohol and grinning like a madman. “The party has arrived!”

After Stephen arrives, the party does liven up significantly. However, it’s only a few minutes after he arrives when it happens.

Suddenly, the lights flicker out, engulfing the house in darkness. Confused murmurs fill the air. The lights stay out for only a few seconds. But when they come back on, you wish they’d stayed off.

When the lights come back on, you’re met with a horrific sight. Lying on the ground is Mona. Dead. It looks like her neck had been snapped. There’s a small piece of paper by the body. Dread roils in your gut. You step forward and kneel by her corpse. With shaking hands, you lift the note and read it aloud.

“Hello, my friends! If you’re reading this note, then the game has begun! The game in question is simple. If you can figure out who I am, you win! And if you win, that means you survive! But you have a time limit. I’ll kill more people as time goes on. You might be the next victim. You could die at any second! Isn’t that exciting? Well, it is for me, at least. I’ll only give you one hint for now: I am one of you. One of your friends. Your allies. Someone you trust. I am here, at this party. Think you can find out who I am? I wish you luck! Without further ado, let the game begin. Have fun!”

What do you do?

Option 1: Try to stay calm. Maybe try and analyze the note a bit? Or take a closer look at the body?

Option 2: Start accusing people. Somebody did this! We gotta figure out who!

Option 3: Panic.

So it begins again. Remember, your goal now is to find other endings. You can still choose the choice you chose last time, but voting for others might help you out a little more.

there are 8 endings as of right now. 7 main and 1 secret ending. you have to get all the others before unlocking the secret ending. the other endings will not be revealed, you have to figure them out yourself.

The Game: Ending 1

Reactions vary. Jo’s hands fly to his mouth. Jay looks a bit saddened, but not surprised. Ivu gasps.

“You figured it out rather quickly! Well done!” Hosuh sounds genuinely impressed. “It usually gets down to three or so people-”

“Wait, what do you mean usually?” You interrupt. 

Hosuh ignores your question. “Well, at any rate, you won the game! You can leave now! The door should be unlocked.”

“W-we can leave? You’re not going to kill us?” Jo blurts. Jay hisses at him to shut up.

But Hosuh laughs. “Kill you? Of course not! You won the game, and your prize is that you get to live! I need to get going, though. I’ll be seeing you again very soon though. Buh-bye!” He snaps his fingers, and he’s gone. He simply vanishes.

For several moments, everyone sits in stunned, disbelieving silence. Finally, Jay stands. He walks towards the door, turns the handle-

And it swings open. You get up as well, moving to join him by the doorframe. Soon, everyone else does too. It’s dark outside. It looks to be about 9 PM. Strange, since the clocks on the wall said it was about noon. Your car is still there. So is everyone else’s. You walk to your car and get in almost mechanically. You haven’t fully digested the fact that it’s over as you start up your engine and begin driving in the direction of your house. As you drive, you pull out your phone to check the time. It’s 9:47 on the 25th- 

Wait a minute. That couldn’t be right. It was the 27th, right? You’d arrived at the party at about 7 PM on the 25th. But you’d slept at least twice. It couldn’t have just been two hours, right?

Whatever. You’d worry about that later. You finally pull up to your house. Exiting the car, you unlock the front door and step inside.

Elias is standing there. He turns to face you as you enter, greeting you with a smile. 

“Hey Dan! How was the party?”

At that moment, everything hits you. And oh boy, it hits you hard. You can’t move. You’re rooted in place. Elias’s smile dissolves into concern.

“Dan? Are you okay?”

You feel your eyes flood with tears. You lunge forward, pulling your brother into a tight embrace.

“Daniel- what-?” You cut him off with an involuntary sob. Elias is clearly confused, but he returns the embrace, rubbing soothing circles into your back.

“Shh. You’re okay. You’re safe now.“ 

You remain there, in his arms, for a long while.

You’re home.

Congratulations! You’ve unlocked the Good End! You discovered the killer and got out alive!
