Very sad to hear of Stella's death yesterday. She was a regular guest on Q&A, a very inspirational woman and fierce campaigner on rights for people with disabilities. You will most certainly be missed.

"I think the difficulty with Tony Abbottâs position though is that when you add up all the promises he was making before the election, they were mutually contradictory. So, it was like, âweâre going to get the budget back into surplus. Weâre going to do that and weâre going to do it without any...

Conversation
Josh Thomas on Q&A
Josh: Part of the issue, is this idea that they're meant to be resilient. Like, today I read - this surprised me - men commit suicide at a rate of 3-to-1 of women, which is crazy because it's better to be a dude; you get paid more, you get male privilege, you got the patriarchy on your side, you don't menstruate, you know, it's good, it's really good! And you gotta ask yourself, "Why are three times more men than committing suicide than women?" And I think the answer, so you know-
Bob Katter: We have to put up with women, you know.
Josh: You know women are allowed to vote now. They're allowed to vote. Men, up until the age of 8 or 9, boys, they cry the same amount as girls. And then they get taught to stop, like they're not allowed anymore and it's ridiculous. And then this fear of looking weak or feminine, or looking gay, is stopping men from talking about their feelings, and then they kill themselves.
