We are all fish
We are all fish.
Big ones, small ones, salty and fresh.
We walk because of her.
A small one who found an easier way, Slept in the bottom of a light filled river, Pushed up and skated across the water, Danced in the sun, And hung out with new life in a bog filled with flowers; pack orange, hair yellow, and lip red nerve; blushing in the hot sun look.
In her fifth eye wide open, in the dark ocean, she saw the sun and brought her children to the surface.
The light from the moon drew up dollops of silver; spheres in the ocean reflecting the deep dark blue universe, once exposed to the stars shined in brilliance.
Fish with lanterns drawn out from their third eye lit the depths and lit in white fire on the surface.
Big heart fish with red glow light, like the back of a bus, flashed on the skim. In the moon the rose petals in their chest peeled back and floated to the top in the calm and the depths lit up like her happy lips showing her moves.
The ocean is a silver wave and she takes her first breath with her children.
There is land, this is new life.
Her scales dropped on the shore and formed shells; smooth ones, washed out with the silver of the ocean. They don’t talk, but you can see their thoughts reflect the old when played in the sun. They think about how we were all fish and how they were once apart of her. How they once helped move in the depths of the ocean. How they carried her legs to the sand, stars and breath.
Her feet touched the earth for the first time and the ground cried happy tears. Her foot prints filled as she walked and formed the first lakes. The happiness spread and huge canopies formed from the fresh water. The first trees the size of modern mountains. Flowers like hammocks and her, smiling on a vine.
The forest is damp and loud with all sorts of creatures singing a thankful tune to the beat of the waves against the shore; water moved by the happy fins of her children swimming to land in a once calm ocean that’s been moving hard since she left.
She rested in her hands from the big deep She no longer had big scary fish to fill her head She only had herself She had new thoughts
Her imagination gave us legs
Her imagination gave us heart
Gave us a place to remember fish
A place to go a home
When she closes her eyes…
