not my lover boy // joe sugg imagine
blurb: you were tired of being hung up over joe, so you tried to go get over him. word count: 3822
hello! here’s my second imagine and it’s a joe imagine woo! i know i’m not that good at writing just yet but i fell out of practice so please send in requests so i can write them!!
“Casp?” You called out into the open doorway of the blonde boy’s flat, not particularly waiting for anyone to let you in as you were perfectly capable of doing so yourself. You were just announcing your presence.
“Y/N? Is that you?” Josh called out from the kitchen as you threw your stuff down on the couch and headed over to the counter to snack on whatever Josh was making.
“Nope” You said, popping the p as you threw a crisp into your mouth and watched him roll his eyes.
“Is there a particular reason you’re here eating my food, or..?” Josh asked, trailing off waiting for your response. You exaggerated a fake gasp, putting a hand over your heart as if his comment affected you.
“Have you ever considered the possibility that I just came to visit my two childhood best friends?” You cried out, referring to Caspar and Josh. You had grown up in Knysna with the two boys and moved out to London around the same time Caspar did for University. Josh followed a few years after, reuniting your trio.
“I’ve considered it, ruled it out though” Josh said, moving towards the couch with you following him.
“I’m here practically every day, just admit you love me Josh.” You said while making kissing faces at the ginger and plopping down on the coach besides him.
“Get a life, Y/N” He laughed out, trying to dodge you. You and Josh had a brother-sister relationship and it was comforting to not have to take him so seriously. You knew he loved you and he knew you loved him no matter how much the two of you teased each other.
“Where’s Caspar anyways? He said he wanted to book the flights for the summer holiday and needed me to bring by my passport” You asked while snatching the television remote out of Josh’s hand.
“He should be back soon, him and Joe went out for lunch.” Josh said, newly engrossed into the film you had randomly chosen to play on the screen.
Your ears perked up at the sound of Joe’s name. It was no secret to the buttercream boys about your feelings for Joe, literally all of them knew except for Joe. The fact that they managed to keep it a secret from him was a miracle in itself.
Joe was, and has always been, a fantasy. Your biggest fantasy, in fact. There was no hope of anything going on between the two of you. Of course you were close with him and the two of you had an amazing friendship, but you’ve seen the girls he’s been into. You’ve seen the girls he brings home and you’re not like any of them in the slightest.
“So uhm, is Joe coming back too?” You asked, not trying to sound too eager.
“Don’t you worry, Y/N. Your little lover boy is coming by too, so you won’t have completely wasted a trip to come and visit us.” Josh laughed.
“He’s not my lover boy!” You groaned out, pulling a throw pillow off the couch and hiding your face in it.
“Liar.” The smirk on Josh’s face was practically audible. “NO! If Joe was my ‘lover boy,’ I wouldn’t be going out on a second date tonight, now would I?!” You exclaimed, but quickly regretted doing so as soon as the words left your mouth. It was true that you had a tinder date tonight but you didn’t want to tell the boys about it. They would take the complete piss out of it and you didn’t really want to deal with them unless it was something serious. And so far, it wasn’t. You had only gone on one date with the guy, you hadn’t even been 100% sure if you wanted to go on a second but here you were. You knew deep down you were just forcing yourself to get over your feelings for Joe but putting yourself out there for the first time in ages.
“Bullshit!” Josh cried out, putting his bowl of crisps on the table and turning to look at you.
“Piss off.” You said, rolling your eyes and sinking deeper in the couch.
“Holy shit! You have a date tonight!” He exclaimed wide eyed.
“Stop making such a big deal out of nothing, you loser.”
And that’s when you heard the door open and you knew Caspar and Joe had arrived
“Casp! Guess who has a date tonight?!” Josh called out as soon as the door shut and you heard the sound of the keys hitting the kitchen counter.
“Who has a date tonight?” Caspar asked
“Well we know it’s not Mikey, not don’t we?” Joe walked in behind Caspar, laughing at his own crack at Mikey.
“It’s Y/N!” Josh answered. It was safe to say that your cheeks were as red as Josh’s hair.
“Y/N? Bullshit!” Caspar laughed out, slightly offending you.
“Why is it such a shock that I’ve managed to get myself a date?!” You exclaimed.
“Not that you managed to get yourself a date, that you’re actually going on it.” Caspar explained
“Oh shut it, I met him on tinder and he seems like a nice guy.”  You snapped at the blonde boy.
“You’re on tinder?” Joe asked, completely out of the blue.
You frowned, he usually doesn’t ask things like that, the two of you had an unspoken agreement to not comment on each others love lives. He always pitied you when the boys teased you so he’d lay off. You, however, had a different reason for not prying. To be frank, you didn’t want to know what girls he was bringing home from the club because it would probably break your heart.
“So what if I am?” You hesitated because you felt embarrassed admitting it. You didn’t know why, you knew all the boys had tinder. Though your response actually had Joe flusted.
“Oh uhm. Nothing, I was- I’m just wondering. You never mentioned it.” He stuttered out.
“I wasn’t really planning on it. Josh are you even capable of keeping your mouth shut?” You groaned out, turning your head to the ginger who was still eating his food comfortably on the couch while still managing to embarrass you in front of your crush.
“I don’t think it’s my mouth we need to be worrying about tonight, Y/N” Josh giggled out, obviously proud of himself. Caspar found Josh’s joke hilarious but Joe stayed quiet, obviously not interested in anything to do with my love life. Why would he be?
“Oh, piss off you two.” You groaned and got up grabbing your keys. Your flat was only 2 floors above theirs and you needed to start getting ready for the night.
“Getting ready for tonight already?” Caspar teased as you put your shoes on
“I need to go anyways, my passports on your desk. I’ll come by tomorrow to check up on you lot” You said
“Don’t be too wild tonight, Y/N” Josh giggled, obviously still proud at himself for his lame jokes.
“Fuck off, Pieters.” And with that, you walked out the door.
+++++++
Your date, Matthew, was due to come pick you up in about 15 minutes and you still couldn’t find your shoes anywhere. He was taking you clubbing and you were quite excited to get some drinks in your system and convince yourself that you weren’t settling. Suddenly, you remembered that you left your clubbing heels at Caspar and Josh’s flat from the last time you went to the club with the boys.
“Shit.” You murmured to yourself. You had yet to put on any of your jewelry and had barely finished your make up. You had thrown your up in a high pony tail to compliment your dress and decided to just put on your jewelry downstairs at the boys flat.
You gathered all the things you needed for the night, and locked up the flat so you could head downstairs to the boys’ place.
The door was unlocked at their flat so obviously you just walked in. One of these days, these boys are going to get robbed if they keep leaving their door open.
“Hello!” You called out, walking towards the coat closet in hopes of finding your shoes.
“Y/N? Thought you had a date?” Caspar called out over the sounds of what was most definitely a game of Fifa. You walked over to the living room to see the three boys staring intently at the TV in front of them.
“Have you seen my black heels? I left them here the other week.” You asked, growing impatient. Caspar paused the game and then the three of them turned their head to you.
Once they saw you, their jaws practically dropped. You were wearing a black bodycon dress with mesh going down the middle and surrounding the bottom of your chest. The boys never really saw you dressed up like this, as you put in a little extra effort for the date.
“Bloody hell, Y/N…” Joe said, looking you up and down. You smiled at him, butterflies erupting in your stomach as you saw the way he was looking at you. ‘You’re not really thinking about Joe while you’re about to go on a date with another boy, are you?’ You thought to yourself.
“Why do you look like you’re about to go clubbing or something, thought you had a date?” Josh asked.
“She sure doesn’t dress like that when she goes clubbing with us.” Caspar laughed out just as your phone vibrated in your hand. It was a message from Matthew letting you know he’s downstairs.
“My shoes? Where are they? He’s just texted me to go downstairs!” You questioned, growing annoyed. You were putting your earrings on as you scolded the boys, multitasking at your best.
“Bloody hell, Y/N. He’s not even going to come to the door.” Josh groaned in disapproval. He had always been protective of you, and had the highest of expectations when it came to boys you were dating.
“My shoes!” You reminded them, growing more and more impatient by the second.
“Uh, I think I saw them in the other room. Here, I’ll show you.” Joe said, getting up and motioning you towards the guest room.
Trailing behind him, you noticed that he’d been quiet all day. Joe is usually talkative, but he had hardly spoken four words to you all day. He reached into the closet and rummaged around for a few moments before pulling out your heels.
“I hid in here during a prank last week and I saw them.” He explained, handing them to you.
“You and your pranks, Sugg.” You laughed while thanking him for the shoes, quickly putting them on. You took pulled a necklace from your clutch, one Joe had actually gotten your for your past birthday.
“Put this on for me?” You asked, holding out the necklace.
“Uh-yeah of course.” He stuttered, hesitating for a moment before taking the simple piece of silver from your hands.
He stepped up behind you, pushing himself against your back as you tilted your head and pulled your hair to the side. Your breathing was ragged and you could tell his was too. You could literally feel his heartbeat against your back and you knew that your heart was beating out of your chest. The feeling was enough to make yo shut your eyes. It was like the moment was in slow motion, he even took his sweet time clasping the necklace shut. Once he was done, you could feel his fingers lingering and his hot breath hitting  the nape of your neck. It gave you goosebumps to say the least.
“Joe.” You breathed out, but he didn’t move. You didn’t want him to.
“Don’t go.” He hummed into your ear, loud enough so it was only audible for the two of you. Your turned around and faced him in lighting speed and looked at him with wide eyes.
“What?” You gasped, holding eye contact with him for what felt like eternity until he cleared his throat and turned away. “Sorry, uhm. I mean, you should go. Because he’s here.” Joe mumbled out not able to look you in the eyes.
“He’s uh… Yeah, he’s here.” You told Joe, not able to move from your spot
You looked into Joe’s eyes for the first time that night and they looked different. Like they were longing for something, like they were experiencing the most excruciating pain in existence.
“You should go then.” He nodded, and just as quick as it came, the look in his eyes went away.
You looked down and nodded, before moving past him and leaving the flat without another word.

Joe’s POV
As soon as I heard the door shut after her, I slammed the wall. Definitely a low moment of mine, I must admit.
“Damnit!” I yelled, and then immediately felt the sting against my palm.
“Mate? You alright?” Caspar called out, I could hear him pausing the game of FIFA.
I walked out of the room and towards the couch, plopping down at the end of it.
“No! I just let her walk away. We had this… this moment, and I let her walk away and straight into the arms of some other guy.” I groaned, practically pulling my hair out in stress.
“Honestly, I don’t know why you won’t just tell her how you feel.” Josh commented, nonchalantly.
“Because obviously she doesn’t feel the same way, she would’ve said something by now. All I do is flirt with her left and right.” I said sadly.
Caspar and Josh looked at each other and then back at me.
“She’s fucking in love with you, mate. What are you on about?” Caspar asked cautiously.
I stayed quiet, not being able to believe my own ears. Surely I must’ve heard him wrong.
“What?” I asked
“Oh for fuck sake Joe! Y/N is literally so in love with you and you won’t make a real move on the girl. She was just tired of sitting around and hoping you would.” Josh sighed.
I shook my head in disbelief, this wasn’t happening. I hadn’t driven her away, that’s not possible.
“There’s no way.” I said
Caspar sighed before getting up and grabbing our coats, throwing them at us.
“Come on mate, let’s go get a drink.”
+++
When Caspar called the rest of the boys and we decided to meet at DRAMA, the club a few blocks away from Jack’s flat, I had expected to just drown the knowledge that I had just let go the girl of my dreams with as much alcohol as I could get my hands on. Not to be watching her on a date with some other guy.
You heard it here first, Y/N and her stupid date decided to come to DRAMA. Who even takes a girl on a date to a nightclub? Beats me, that’s for sure. But regardless, I was fuming. She had seen us and gave a wave in our direction a little earlier in the night but the thought of his hands on her had me raging.
Usually when we bring her out clubbing, she stays with us. I’ve never actually seen her with a boy that wasn’t us. At least, I hadn’t seen her dance with a boy that wasn’t us. But all I knew was that right now, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. More specifically I couldn’t take my eyes off the hands that were on her waist. I couldn’t help but wish it was me who had her dancing against me, it should be me whispering things in her ear, I should be the one making her laugh. It was taking every ounce of self restraint to not rip her out of his arms and it’s going to be the death of me.
++++ Y/N POV
Matthew’s a prick. He’s drunk and touchy and you honestly would do anything to get away from him. The truth of it was, you couldn’t stop thinking about Joe. Which isn’t unusual for you, but it was different this time. Maybe it was the smallest bit of hope in you but you could’ve sworn the two of you had a moment. A real moment.
Plus, you couldn’t help but notice Joe staring at you. Ever since the boys came into the club, you were relived. But you’ve been too scared to leave Matthew, he kept getting touchier and touchier and you’ve never felt so uncomfortable on a date.
You had told Matthew that you needed to use the washroom, but you went and found Caspar instead. He was sitting in a booth with Jack and Conor, the other boys nowhere to be found. Except for Joe, he was sat at the bar.
‘What are you guys doing here?” You hissed at none of them in particular, sliding in next to Conor.
“Lovely to see you as always, Y/N.” Conor laughed, giving you a kiss on the cheek.
“Would you like to tell me what exactly you’re doing here?” You said, batting your eyelashes to the elder Maynard. He rolled his eyes and sighed.
“We wanted to bring Joe out so he could get over the fact that you were on a date with some douchebag. So we thought we’d bring him out to the place you were on a date with said douchebag with the selfish hope that he would admit his undying love for you, what’s new?” Conor recited, completely monotoned. He might’ve sounded like he knew what he was talking about, but what he said put you in total shock.
“Joe- He what?” You gasped, unable to put what you were thinking into words.
“He’s madly in love with you, Y/N!” Jack exclaimed
“Honestly, can’t you see the way he’s looking at you? He’s about to rip your dates head off. Speaking of, how’s the date going?” Caspar added
“Awful, he won’t stop trying to take me home with him.” You said, shaking your head in disgust.
“Well, Joe’s over there. Go tell your lover boy and the two of you could live happily ever after.” Conor said
You thought about it and smiled to yourself.  Part of you secretly enjoyed the looks you were getting from Joe. It was as if he was jealous, and you were living for every second of it. If dancing up against some overly-touchy, annoying drunk douchebag was all it took for Joe to get jealous over you? Done. It’ll just be like uni parties all over again.
“I will. Let me just get a bit more out of him.” You smirked, winking at Jack who was sitting right in front of you.
“You’re the worst Y/N. I love it.” He laughed.
You smiled at the three boys one last time and went back on the dance floor. God, was this boy a pig. As soon as you got to him he took you by the waist and started dancing with you. Which you wouldn’t mind if it was someone else, but just the thought of Matthew was starting to repulse you. Let alone drunk Matthew. He was alright when you went to dinner last week but you were starting to question your judgement.
You looked over behind your shoulder as you were dancing, and there he was. Joe Sugg, sitting at the bar, staring at you. A pint was in hand and you’d never seen him like this, so intense. The stare was full of something, neither of you could look away. Then you smiled at him, and he smiled back.
But that was when Matthew pulled you closer against his chest and started kissing down your neck. The smile on Joe’s face fell almost immediately causing the smile on your face to fall as well.
“Matthew,” You started in protest, trying to move away from him but his grip on your waist got a little tighter.
“It’s alright, baby.” He whispered into your ear, but you thought back to when Joe whispered in your ear earlier that night. Asking you to stay with him.
Joe. He’s what you wanted, and you were done walking around the conversation. Once you got the chance, you were gonna tell him how you feel. One way or another.
You kept trying to wiggle out of Matthew’s arms but the grip he had on you was too strong. Then, you turned your head swiftly and looked at Joe. His face was full of concern and hurt, but as soon as you mouthed the words help to him, he was up and on his way to you in a heartbeat.
“Get off her.” He said firmly to Matthew. Matthew let go of you but came face to face with Joe.
“Mind your own business, would you?” He growled at Joe. Joe took a step forward and got right into his face.
“Get. The. Hell. Away. From. My. Girl.” You’d never seen Joe so angry before and you were scared he was going to start a fight and get you all kicked out. So you stepped in, but not ignoring the fact that he called you his girl.
“Joe, we should go.” You said quietly, putting your hand gently on his shoulder and watching him visibly relax.
“Y/N?” Matthew asked, clearly confused.

“I should take him home.” You said to him, looking apologetic. Then you took Joe’s hand and turned away from Matthew, weaving him through the crowd. Once the two of you reached the front of the club, you stood in silence waiting for the uber. You were leaned up against the brick wall in front of the building and Joe was standing in front of you, looking down.
“Joe-” You started to say but he cut you off by grabbing your face between his hands and kissing you. It was amazing, to say the least. You pulled him closer using his leather jacket, smiling into the kiss. You never thought this moment would happen and you were taking in every last second. The kiss was heated and passionate, like you were the last two people on earth.
Joe pulled away and leaned his forehead against yours as the two of you tried to catch your breath.
“Y/N,” He breathed out, looking into your eyes.
You didn’t let him finish because you grabbed him by the collar and pulled him down to your lips again and kissed him. It was slow and sweet this time, and the feeling of him smiling into the kiss put butterflies in your stomach. But he pulled away again and tried to catch his breath.
“I’m crazy about you.” He whispered whilst his forehead was still leaning against yours, his arm propped up against the wall behind you.
You smiled before saying,
“Took you long enough, Sugg.”

wish you were here // josh pieters imagine
blurb: long distance finally started to take a toll on you word count: 1636
hello! This is my first imagine and I haven’t written anything new in a hot minute so I want to get back into writing and I’ve never really been a tumblr writer or blogger so please bear with me and be my friend! Also, requests are open so feel free to send some in!
Long distance sucks. You were starting to resent it more and more each day. It had been almost 4 months since you’d seen Josh in person, and it was starting to take a toll on you. The two of you had been together officially for about 2 years but most of it you had spent apart. You had met him in London about 4 years ago while you were staying with your cousin, Joe, and his roommate Caspar for the summer. You go to London every summer so once you met Josh for the first time, you started seeing more of him until eventually feelings developed to the point of no return.  Once you had finally gave in to being with him, you knew it was possibly the best and worst choice you’d ever made. It’s like you felt a joy with him that you’d never had before; like he was the sun and you were lacking vitamin D. Eventually the relationship became something neither of you had ever felt before, something that both of you knew was worth fighting for. So when Josh asked you if you would be willing to try and make long distance work, you knew that you would do anything and everything you could to hold onto Joshua Pieters.
Saying that it was hard being so far away from him was an understatement. But you’d rather go through every struggle and obstacle the world could throw at you if it meant having him in your life at the end of the day. He’s worth all of it. But it still sucked. Flights were expensive, and you couldn’t just drop everything whenever you wanted and go to London. Plus, you had school thousands of miles away. NYU was one of the most demanding schools in the world and you were honestly amazed that you were able to balance a long distance relationship and maintain the grades that you did. But, Josh was quite supportive of your education and always encouraged you to put your school first when you needed too and thats one of the reasons you loved him so much.
You had just finished your last midterm which meant all the pent up frustration you had channeled into studying was going right back into missing Josh. You kept reminding yourself that you were gonna see him in a little more than a month for Christmas with your family, followed by a late Christmas with his, and not to mention New Years with the boys.
You were sat cross legged on your bed with your laptop in front of you, smiling as Josh told you about his day. His laugh warmed your heart in ways you couldn’t even begin to describe “You should have seen it babe!” He exclaimed with this silly smile on his face that filled you up in every way imaginable. Seeing him so happy made you happy, but it also broke your heart in the slightest way. You just wished you were there with him, that you could be in his arms.
“I wish I did.” You gave him a sad smile, looking away so you wouldn’t be tempted to cry.
“Y/N? Are you alright?” Josh asked concerned, his smile falling just as quickly as yours did.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine Josh.” You said quietly while playing with the ends of your blanket, unable to look at the ginger on the screen.
“You’re not, what’s wrong?” He asked, firmly.
“It’s just, I just- it’s just that I miss you.” You stuttered, “So much. This whole long distance thing, it sucks, and sometimes it just gets to me.” You finally admitted, choking the words out. Once you finally built up the courage to look at him, he was looking down. He had a hand in his hair, that eventually found it’s way down his face and rested against his cheek. Something he did when he was stressed.
Before he had the chance to even respond to what you said, you spoke up again.
“And listen to me, I love you. And I don’t care how much this sucks and how much it hurts because at the end of the day, I have you. Anything and everything is worth going through if it means at the end of this, we get to be together. I know it’s gonna be us. But until then, it sucks. It really fucking does. But it’ll be worth it. Because I’m so in love with you, Joshua Pieters” By the end of your little speech, you had finally given into your tears and were crying more and more with each and every word. Josh’s eyes were shut and you could tell he was starting to tear up as well. He never talked about it either, but long distance was hard on him too.
“I hate that I can’t be there for you right now, it fucking sucks knowing that you’re nearly 4,000 miles away from me and I can’t do anything about it. I just love you so much, Y/N. God I love you so much.” Josh finally said.
“It’ll be alright. Sometimes I just wish you were here.” You sighed, wiping your tears away.
+++ Classes the next few days weren’t particularly interesting. It was finally Friday and you only had two; a creative writing class and world history. The weather was cold and depressing, but that was a given because it was November in New York. The walk back to your apartment wasn’t anything exciting either; the same newspaper stands, hot dog carts, and grumpy commuters. About a block from your place, Josh’s favourite song came onto your shuffle and you smiled to yourself, reminding yourself to call Josh as soon as you got to your building.
As you got closer, the song stopped and your familiar ringtone started blaring through your headphones. You looked down and saw it was Josh.
“I was literally just about to call you in a minute” you laughed into the phone as you followed the mailman into your apartment complex.
“Were you now?” You could practically here the smirk on his face
“I swear, I was!” You exclaimed, pressing the button for the elevator and waiting for it to come down.
“Well, I guess we’ll never know. But I called for a reason, Y/N” Josh said
“What’s up, babe?” You asked, stepping into the elevator and pushing the 7th floor.
“Well, I know you were missing me. I mean, how could you not, I’m perfect.” He started, but got cut off with sounds of your laughter.
“You’re full of shit, Pieters.” Your rolled your eyes, stepping off the lift.
“Well, I wanted to let you know that I shipped over some of my hoodies so you could have me to keep you warm. The package should have arrived by now.” He said, bringing a smile to your face as you put your keys into the door and pushing it open.
“Josh! That’s actually surprisingly sweet of you, but I just got home and there was no package.” You said, balancing the phone between your shoulder as you put down your backpack and kicked the door closed.
“Really? That’s strange, the tracking number said it was there.” He said, sounding unamused.
You threw your keys on the coffee table and headed over to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.
“Nope, it might be downstairs with the rest of the post. Maybe I have to sign for it in the lobby?” You questioned, but got cut off with the sound of a knock at your front door.
“What was that?” Josh asked
“It was the front door, maybe the package arrived?” You questioned and headed over to the door.
“Yeah. Maybe.” Josh said, waiting on the other line.
Not bothering to check the peep hole, you unlocked and opened the door right away and took a double take.
There he was, in flesh and blood.
Joshua Pieters was standing right in front of you holding a bouquet of flowers.
“No, no.” You breathed out, using your hands to cover your mouth as you were not able to believe your eyes.
“Hey babe.” The grin on his face was infectious as it spread to you almost immediately. Neither of you had moved.
“You’re here. You’re…here?” You exclaimed, confused out of your mind.
“Listen, Y/N. Are you just going to stand there or are you going to come here and let me kiss you?” He laughed out, breaking you out of your trance and causing you to plummet into his arms. You held onto him so tight, you thought you would never let go. You could feel him put his head in the crook of your neck as he tightened his grip on you.
“You didn’t think I’d let you miss me too much, now did you?” He whispered into your ear, and you were enveloped by a type of warmth you only felt when you were with him.
“You came. You’re here.” You repeated again, still in shock.
“I would’ve come sooner, but I wanted to spend more time with you so I brought up all my meetings and caught the first flight out of Heathrow to JFK.” You could feel him smile into your neck.
“But, how could you just drop everything and fly across the world? Just like that?” You still hadn’t let go of him. You weren’t planning on it either
“I’d travel every country and every ocean just to be able to be with you, Y/N. It wasn’t hard.”
You moved your head away from his chest and looked up into his eyes. You smiled again, feeling full for the first time in months.
“Just kiss me already.”
And that’s just what he did.
