SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 306

I'm going to get flack for this, and I'm okay with it. Eren wanted Mikasa to confess her feelings to him, but not because he loved her.

With all the information the manga has given us, here's my interpretation of that moment in 123.

The Attack Titan gives its holder the ability to see through time via the memories of its past and future holders. As we know, Eren has seen his future memories, meaning he saw the future itself. We also know that Eren truly didn't want to trigger the rumbling and destroy the world, but felt it was a future set in stone.

When Eren asked Mikasa what he was to her, he already saw the future where she said he was family. And that was the answer he got. But Eren was hoping she would answer differently from his future memories, because he wanted proof, to himself, that the future, no matter how small, could change. That the future he saw in his memories wasn't set in stone.

Eren hoped Mikasa would confess her love, not because "do you love me too?" but really "please tell me the future can change."

And we all know how that ended.

Mikasa gave the answer Eren knew she'd give, but hoped she wouldn't. Eren didn't see this as Mikasa rejecting him, he saw this as the future being set in stone, down to the tiniest detail.

Eren, now hardened to the reality that the future can't change in any way, steels himself to leave his comrades, save his homeland, and destroy the world.

But hey, that's just my opinion and interpretation on this subject. Take it as you will.

I'm going to get flack for this and I'm okay with that. The fact that everyone is so staunch about "Historia is a lesbian and only likes girls". People seem to forget that bisexuality and pansexual are a thing. Historia could be a lesbian and like girls, a bisexual who likes girls and boys, a pansexual who doesn't care about the gender of her partner, or hell, a demisexual who's only physically attracted to her partner BECAUSE she loves them. I find it strange that in such a "woke and accepting" time we live in, people are so "gay or die" when it comes to Historia. LGBTQ IS NOT EXCLUSIVELY GAY.

But that's my opinion. Take it as you will.

We dont see how that conversation ended, All Might may have chosen to listen to Tsukauchi and not go. On the other hand, All Might may have disregarded Tsukauchi's advice and chose to go. Unless we have a reason to see Tartarus again, we'll never find out.
