Enough is Enough
Published: April 23, 2021
When will it be enough? When will the boot finally come off of our necks and let us breathe in our freedom? I know a lot of my posts have been about tiktoks but I guess that is the theme I am going for for this last blog assignment
Down below I have provided a link for a tiktok that explained Patriarchy in a way that I could have never thought of. My putting the boot on our necks, it shows the bad feminist readings that we did this week. I think these two relate because Gay was able to talk about how there are so many rules that are placed on women and feminists, so we never know if we are being a woman or feminist correctly. There are men out there who are fed up with women who are constantly “complaining” about women’s rights and that we are not equal yet. There are women who tell other feminist women to shut up and stop complaining because they like how it is. It is an ongoing debate and when will it ever be enough? In Gay’s writing she states that if you want to be independent, but you want to be taken care of, how can we be a good feminist?(Gay, 170) There are so many layers that come with this idea of feminism, so how can we go about it? I am hoping that this tiktok opens the eyes of thousands of people.

Fem is Them
Published: April 21, 2021
In class today, we talked about a slogan that we would all want to come up with. The slogan was meant to represent something that feminism needs to focus on and what issues we should attempt to face. My group talked about how we all saw this one tiktok about this girl with blue hair, septum piercing, and short “boyish” hair crying about being kicked out of her home. We do not know why she was kicked out, but the comments made us realize that we have a lot of work to do.
Now, when I said “boyish” that is only cause that is how in our society we see it sadly. I remember back in high school there was this girl who had short pink hair, would dress weird, and would look like the stereotypical “lesbian”. The amount of bs she would receive form those around her just because she was the stereotype was ridiculous, and that is why we decided to talk about this tiktok. The comments were talking about how “oh raise your hand if you think she is a freak” or “nice to see there are normal people in the comments”. I was shocked because I expected them to defend her, not insult her more.
This led to Kaylyn saying “How about ‘The Fem is Them’”. All of us were like OMG YES!!! because not only does it relate to us women... but it insults trans and non binaries. There are people who go by “they/them” and this can include so many people.
With this statement, I have chosen to use it for my final project... hold onto your seats...

The beautiful work of this woman right here. This was able to show that we do what we want for us, no one else. Why should we have to beg our partner for the affection that we yearn? If they loved us they would. I always see women and men wanting to change their partners because they say “I deserve better”. It is okay to try, but there is a limit. If your partner is not showing you their love and affection in ways you do not like, then that person unfortunately is not for you. “I won’t ask you to hug me anymore” is the line that made me the most upset because if you love someone you don’t want to let go of them. Frida was able to show women how to they should be treated.

I can across this song while I was on tik tok with this trend where girls are starting with heavy make up, then going to their natural selves. I love this trend because the song talks about how some of us may go get surgery or be called “plastic” but we still see ourselves as beautiful inside and out. This is relate to my Kardashian blog as well because we all know that the Kardashians are always called “fake” or “plastic”, but they are still absolutely gorgeous to me and others. Just because they got work done does not make them any less beautiful. It is how we see ourselves, so if I want to get my boobs done, i am going to get my boobs done for ME, not YOU.

The Life of A Famous Woman
Published: April 8, 2021
Never in my life have I ever looked at a woman and said “you’re feelings about yourself are not valid”. We all have our insecurities. We all hate an angle. We all have out moments where hey, that shirt just does not fit my body type. However, let’s think more into this. Why do we think this way? Why is it that even a woman who has gotten many forms of surgery done STILL looks at a photo and thinks to herself “I still am not enough”?
With this being said, let’s talk about the disgusting situation going on with Khloe Kardashian. I have never been so appalled by how people are handling this situation and it proves to show that society will never view someone as perfect. I want to post the link below, but for Khloe (even though I know she would never see this) I do not wish to because it contains the photo of her that she has been fighting to get rid of. (If you want to see what I am talking about search up Khloe Kardashian leaked photo).
The photo is of Khloe looking amazing per usual but there is no airbrush. This is something that reality star Khloe Kardashian does not feel like herself in and wanted to be taken down. The comments and the reactions of women and men all around did not pass the vibe check. Below i have posted a screen shot of how people are commenting (I also scribbled both Khloe and Chloe out because these are private photos that never should have surfaced).
Body dysmorphia is a huge deal and something that a lot of people my age, and myself have noticed is that a lot of us THINK we have it. This is something you have to get diagnosed with so I do not want to self diagnose. According to Mayo Clinic, they state, “Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health disorder in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance — a flaw that appears minor or can't be seen by others. But you may feel so embarrassed, ashamed and anxious that you may avoid many social situations”(Mayo Clinc). A friend of my has this disorder and she says that she see’s herself as 500lbs in the mirror but is actually 145lbs. I too some times just break down crying and over analyze my body and think I look huge but am actually okay. People automatically assume that women like Khloe Kardashian don’t have these types of disorders but it is for everyone. Just because she has had work done does not mean she thinks she is perfect, it is always hard for us.

Non-Binary is out of this World
Posted: April 4, 2021
I was scrolling through TikTok and I came across this video that I had to post here. Sadly, I tried to post the video here as well but it did not post, so I will do my best to describe it.
The video showed a girl talking about how the Disney movie “Wall-e” has a little bit more background than we think. This movie is about how the human race destroys the planet we love so dear, but this little robot finds a plant on Earth. A robot, named eve, comes in and Wall-e falls in love with it. With this being said, the girl in the tiktok starts talking about how this movie not only revolves around the end of our planet, but also the non-binary system. She talks about how we all assume that Wall-e is a boy, and that Eve is a girl because they “fall in love”. No one ever specified that they are boy and girl, people just assumed by their gender roles. Wall-e would get it’s little robot hands dirty and do “construction” and Eve is a this poise, white, clean, figure with a feminine tone. I can see why these people think that they are boy and girl, however, it really shows how we see gender roles even when there is no genitalia.
The beginning of the TikTok is what hurt/stood out to me the most because it said, “What are you talking about? Keep your liberal politics out of my kids movie”(TikTok). We are stating facts and these people always want to make us look like we are forcing views onto them. We are doing the same thing they are. They are showing their kids that Eve could not possibly be a boy because she is feminine, and Wall-e could not possibly be a girl because “he” gets his hands dirty. These are ways to open the minds of children by showing them that they can identify with whatever they want and to show that masculinity is not just man, and feminine is not just woman.

Hello, I have posted down below a letter I wrote to a man in my life who I have held a lot of emotions back from. This was my midterm for my gender class and I wanted to share it with you as well. It was able to help me lift some things off my chest and it related to the in class assignment you gave us a few weeks ago to go off on a tangent (where I wrote my farsi poem). I hope you enjoy.

Gender Roles= Trash
Posted: March 12, 2021
I went to a semi conservative school where the men were very toxic and would call the feminists “lesbian cunts” all the time. I was always afraid to be called that so I usually kept my ideologies in up until college. Of course, I have always been a feminist and always will be a feminist, but I was not very vocal.
In this photo, I was required to create a “gender roles” poster in my health class because we were learning about different sexualities and all. I remember my teacher assigning this project and all the men would put “women at home” or “women do the cleaning, men bring home the bread”. I created a poster with the typical gender roles but after class I dumped it in the trash. I put it in the trash because 1) I was already finished with the project and 2) gender roles deserve to go in the trash,
Why do we need these roles? does it help our society? Does it really make us, us? No. A man can do “women role” as much as he wants. A woman can do whatever “manly roles” she wants as well. Let’s put these ideologies in the trash.

She’s Someone...
Posted: March 10, 2021
I was scrolling through twitter and I came across this photo that stood out to me. While I was growing up, every time i would hear about rape or some other sorts of assaults/harassments, people would say “she is someones daughter!” or “She is someones wife!!!”. Okay? We are all someone. We are not someone’s property. The level of respect that one owes another HUMAN BEING is not cause they are someones daughter, wife, sister, cousin, etc. THE RESPECT IS BECAUSE WE ARE LITERALLY HUMAN BEINGSSSSS!!!!!
In my essay that we submitted just last week, I spoke about how AOC is a feminist icon who is changing language. The speech she gave to the House of Representatives was powerful and moving because she states, “But what I do have issue with, is using women, our wives, and daughters, as shields, and excuses, for poor behavior”(Transcript). Your actions are your actions. They are not your wives nor your daughters. By having Yoho insult Congresswoman Cortez just because she is passionate about what she speaks about, shows HIS character.

What do you want to be when you grow up???
Posted: March 10, 2021
Do you know what is crazy? Why do I have to choose a “typical” job? Think about it. We usually hear people say “go to college to have a good career” or “you can’t just do nothing”. As I go through college, I have noticed that I really have no idea what I want to do. Teaching is an option at the moment for me but nothing has ever really clicked in my mind that hey, this is exactly what I want to do! Many things seem appealing but I don’t know what I want to do for the rest of my life. One thing though, that has always been something I’ve always loved is the idea of being a mom and getting married.
To many, sadly, this idea sounds weird or “sad” (heard from my own experience), but how so? Being a mother or a wife is a job if I’m being honest, same as going for being a dad and a husband. If a woman is happy with being at home, taking care of her family, and being supportive then why not? Why is the idea of someone saying when get asked the question “what do you want to be when you grow up” that they want to be a “stay at home mom”get frowned upon?
Being a stay-at-home mom is a full-time job. I watched my own mother quit her job to raise her two kids, and now she’s back at work. There is nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home mom because it is the most rewarding-unpaid job in the world.
I personally do not see myself doing this as my only job, but the respect for women that do. In the movie we watched “Iron Jawed Angels” we saw that being a stay-at-home mother had many negative things that came with the title back in the day. We still have negative things but I think it is less “frowned” upon than before. They want to make a difference but also want to care for their families. The husband in one scene was threatened that his wife was beginning to think for himself, which led to him canceling her allowance and threatening to take away her children. This si the abuse that women went through back then and do now as well. No one can run your life, it is yours, live it how you please.

The Beauty of Both Worlds
Published: March 5, 2021
Here is a poem that I wrote for an in class assignment. I believe that this is a great way for women to be represented and the culture of Iranian’s to be shown.
من یک انسان هستم
I am a human being
با هم ، ما باید این چیزها را بهتر کنیم
Together, we must make these things better
من یک انسان هستم
I am a human being
چرا این طور است که من راه شما را خیلی عصبانی می کنم
Why is it that the way I speak gets u so bad
من یک انسان هستم
I am a human being
زبان من چیزی است که برای من زیبا است
My tongue is something that is beautiful to me
من فقط یک دنیای آسان می خواهم
I just want an easy world
من یک انسان هستم
I am a human being

Tik tok Queen
*Disclaimer!!! This isn’t an attack on anyone who is religious. It is an observation on a tik tok I found about women’s rights*
Posted: February 27, 2021
“It is my body!!! My choice!!”. These are a few words that we have been constantly hearing for years now. I remember when I was little, I was told by an educator that if you were to get an abortion you are a disgrace, or that it is “too sad to talk about”. Abortion rights and women’s rights are obviously something that I am passionate about, hence the reason why I am even writing this post, so I am here to give my stand point on a tik tok that I saw a few weeks ago that caught my attention.
The screenshot that I have posted below are the comments from a video I found of a reporter angrily talking about her standpoints on how women should be treated. A user said, “It’s like saying ‘i’m on a diet so my neighbor can’t eat ice cream’“(tik tok user). This was an amazing analogy that caught my eye and is why I wanted to bring it over to my blog. I no longer could find the video of the tik tok, so unfortunately the screenshot will have to do for the time being.
For me personally, I believe that you can believe whatever you want. I do not care if you are religious, or not religious. I don’t care if you believe in reincarnation, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and on and on and on. Whatever brings you comfort, brings you comfort. However, do not force your ideas on me when you know that I do not agree or follow what you follow. If I want to get an abortion, I will get my abortion. I personally, Mandy, do not follow any sort of guidance like that, but by all means, if you believe it follows it! Just please let me do what I need to do.
Abortion rights are not just about giving birth, but it is about the WOMAN AND HOW HER BODY IS ABOUT TO GO THROUGH PREGNANCY. Pregnancy is not a joke. And for those who say “well then don’t have sex”, that is not the way to think. Contraceptives sometimes do not work. According to, CDC, contraceptives work about 97% of the time, and with the different types of birth control, they can defer. For example, with the injection, there is a 4% failure rate (CDC, para. 6). There is always a way that it can happen, so if they are not ready to give birth, let them do what they have to do. Some women die from childbirth, and especially if they did not want the child, that is an unfair game to play.
To conclude, it is important to remember that this is a respectful post of what I believe. Not what you, your friend, your mom dad, priest, etc believe. Me. I respect you so I expect the respect back.

Why “We the Women”?
Posted: February 15, 2021
We the Women. This is a name that came to me the second I began to write my first blog. I thought it would be good to explain a little more about why I chose to make this my blog title. “We the Women”, sound familiar? “We the People” are the first 3 words of our U.S Constitution, and I do not think we have abided by these three words in a while. This past year was difficult for a lot of minorities such as hispanics, blacks, women, LGBTQ, and so many more groups who have been under-minded. Since this is a women’s class, I thought to focus on this primary group. We the Women.
I think that women are on the rise and that we are all able to empower one another in our own specific ways. For example, I empower with my voice and my actions. Some may empower with their silence, their voices, posters, blogs, articles, and so many more that I could go on and on for days. This is why I chose this title, because it shows that we, a community of strong feminists, can come together and talk for women.

Empowered With Culture
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLCcM0cVP7M
Posted= February 11, 2021
I was at my grandma’s house a few hours ago and I noticed that my Dad and her were watching a documentary about Iran. I have added the Part 2 of the documentary because it is in three parts, but the second part is what caught my eye. The gist of the video was to show how Iranian culture can be extremely beautiful when you put your differences aside. There are so many reason that I can say why Iranians don’t like Americans, and vise versa, but the culture is my culture and I love it with all my heart.
Now, this isn’t really a culture class (at times yes) but the reason why I chose to share this with you all is because of the empowered women in this documentary. A strong women, who’s name I was not able to catch (she has the green hijab on), talks about how as a strong woman who owns a building for many tenants, she notices the different ways that women are treated(18:01). The ways that us women have to change the ways that we think and act around a professional setting is just a sad thing we have to go through. At the same time though, if I wasn’t a woman, I think that I would not be as motivated as I was today.... I know I have to work harder, and be stronger, emotionally and physically, so I know being a woman is an amazing, empowering thing.
I hope this documentary finds you all well and that you can enjoy to see the Iranian culture blossom.

Why do do men...?

Why do men??? That is how I would like to start this blog post. Today was my sorority recruitment, and one of my sisters who is a huge feminist was updating the chapter about an instance with singer and actor Justin Timberlake. I have always been a fan of his music, but once you hear what I heard today, it may change your minds as well. A few years back, Timberlake and Jackson 5 star Janet Jackson performed together for the Superbowl Half-time show, but there was a little bit of a mishap. Janet Jackson and Timberlake had an agreement that he would take an article of her clothing off to reveal a lace bra under, but Timberlake revealed her entire breasts to the world. Now, this instance would be traumatizing for every single person, even a world star.... but this incident was made worse.
Timberlake later told everyone that Janet Jackson wanted this all to happen and that it was planned (which is wasn’t). Everything that I am stating at the moment is from the link posted above so there are way more things that Timberlake has done to innocent women.
My personal take on this is extremely heartbreaking because something similar, but not too similar happen to be as a middle schooler. I went to a pool party with a bunch of guys and my girl friends, and they through me in the pool. That day I was wearing a white t shirt, so once they through me in, my bra was showing. They them later told the entire school that “oh we saw Mandy’s boobs! She flashed us”, and that is when my entire reputation went down. These are things that us women go through and sadly what I had to go through at the age of 12. I could never imagine what it would have been like for that to be on national television

The life of a survivor.
*WARNING! The subject manner in this post may trigger some with experiences in any forms of abuse!!*
Posted: February 4, 2021
Not only am I absolutely disgusted at the fact that this happened to AOC, but I want to focus on the disgusting backlash that she is receiving. THIS is why women do not come out about their trauma. THIS, is why men will never understand what we women go through. THIS Is what makes feminists. I am absolutely losing my mind over these few comments written by conservative men, towards AOC. On Facebook, the following so called “friend” of mine wrote, “She is a disgrace to Latin Americans everywhere”(Facebook User). A Twitter comment states, “She is so dramatic. Even if the story is her use of it a political tactic to pull heartstrings is pretty manipulative. But hey, the lifeblood of politicians”(Twitter user). I am keeping both these comments anonymous due to privacy but these two were the boiling point of my rage. I have linked the article I read that can show you what happened and will also link her heartbreaking video of her describing her experience in detail.
Let’s now go back a little to how these two conservative men decided to describe AOC. “Dramatic”, “disgrace”, “Manipulative”. These three terms are the main things that men decide to insult powerful women with. Alexandria Cortez is one of the biggest feminist politicians that I can think of in today’s times. She fights for our human rights, calls politicians out for their incompetence, and much more.
An article that I read from Facebook, which I will also link down below, stated, “No one should have much sympathy for AOC because she had very little sympathy for all the regular people across the country who faced that same kind of situation all across the country during mass riots last year”(Hawkins, para.4).
This is why women are afraid to come out, and no one can tell me otherwise.

for our fellow sisters..
*WARNING* When it comes to the terms of “trans women “trans men” “cis women” “cis men” and so on so forth, these are all-inclusive languages. If I do not use a term correctly please politely tell me otherwise. It is all a learning process to ensure everyone feels as welcomed and accepted as possible. I am also aware that this post may be focused primarily on women but that is the point of this post. I do understand others feel differently. Stay kind, stay safe*
Posted: February 8, 2021
In the era that “We the Women” are going through, we can’t help but forget the other sisters that come along in this journey with us. Just a few months ago, as the majority of us know, there was an election that determined the uttermost effects of this broken country. Both politicians have a past that is unforgivable, but one candidate showed growth and perception throughout his candidacy.
Joseph Biden, the 46th President of the United States, has ordered many executive actions throughout the course of his short time as president. Passing bills, attempting to help our poor planet, and many more things that we can agree and disagree on. Now, to shift back to what we are focusing on for this particular post, let us focus on the Transgender Act that President Biden has passed.
We all see the link? Yes? Okay, good. Let’s dig in.
In the executive order, President Biden has basically passed that anyone who identifies differently with the “gender” or “sexual orientation” that they were born with, will be allowed to compete in whichever gender they identify withs sport. Meaning, a trans woman can now play for her high school women’s teams. This is a HUGE hurrah for this particular community because, after years and years and years of having to be stuck faking or feeling trapped in this body or identification, they can finally be who they want to be. Now, here comes the controversial part that has been shown through social media:
Are there going to be different ways to join? Will it be co-ed? Will there be ways to ensure that cisgender women are able to be noticed. Now, when I say these things I am using my knowledge about biology. It is known, that men are unfortunately stronger than women, and have different bodies. This is a given. We all learned that men have different hormones/etc to enhance them more in sports. This being said, stay with me now, how will we be able to play it fair for women who were born with their sexual orientation? There are many ways to go about this and I think what the people who are bothered by this need are guidelines. But, what people don’t understand is Biden has been in office for less than 2 weeks...give him a second to figure this out.
I personally think that this is going to be an amazing way for the Trans community to feel some sort of acceptance. It may take time to understand or figure out, but it is worth the shot.
