Articles that Will Help You in Your Future By: Edutopia.Org
Motivating the Unmotivated
According to Albert Einstein “Education is what remains after one has forgotten one what has one learned in school “ and or me that words given by our dear Albert Einstein is really true. In our society the most precious thing we can treasure is our education. The questions in my brain right now is , “What if I don’t want to go to school “ is it the end of me?. So for the answer on that I read this article in Edutopia.org that is entitle “Motivating the Unmotivated”.
I really like the article because it gives me (as a student ) and our educators strategy how to be motivate the unmotivated . In the article there are 5 strategies : Focus ,Time Commitment , Reinforcement through Repetition , Effective Motivators, and Fun for the Students. Those 5 strategies tell us that it is not just the educators who needs effort for the students to be motivated , we need the parents and the students. We all need each other to succeed in our future life. The good thing about the article is that it helps us realize and learn something about how to deal and help those student for them to be motivated to go to school.
Public Speaking : Oracy Skills For the Real World
According to Ralph Waldo Emerson “ Speech is power : Speech is to persuade ,to covert, to compel . It is to bring another out of his bad sence into your good sense”. Speech is important . For some people to speak in front is like jumping in 1000 m above sea level cliff. I read this article about K to 12 program on how they make students to be a good speaker and for me as a Grade 11 students having the subject oral communication is really helpful. One thing about the article is i can relate to it because I am living example of how they taught me about how to be a good speaker. And for the future students who will be learning oral communication the article really suites you and can help you . And for the educators it can really help them because there are strategies that can help them.
A Painter at the Chalkboard: "Old School Tools" in the Classroom
"Painter at the Piano" it was a metaphor used in the article and it is how the author of the article showcase his topic. About the Old School tools. I love the article and the author who is a teacher , I love it because the article simply say that the lackness of something is not a hindrance for the students to experience the modern world. The author shows in his article that they have no access in the technologies like web 2.0. Instead of focusing on the things that they don’t have in their school the teacher give three ways to experience it . These are : Use Paper to Teach Blogging, Use Folders as Apps,Use the Chalkboard as Social Media. And that what makes the article really useful . I have this things on my mind right now. That I am so lucky that I have everything to learn than the other student. For those students who can’t have those modern technologies .IT IS NOT A HINDRANCE .IT IS JUST A MOTIVATION.

Media Information Literacy
Today, we are in our modern society where technologies is our kind of needs. We live in this world full of information and still seek for more information. A world that we don’t know where to listen, where to get the exact and right information , for us to avoid miscommunications or false information. I am the right person to seek for your answers in all of your questions? What should we do to be Media Literate Person or to be a Media Literate Society?
This blog is for each and every one of us. We are all connected, we have our different stories to tell but we have the same goal. TO INFORM. TO PERSUADE . TO ENTERTAIN. In order to get our main goal, we should first know the history of all of this, the different kind of media, the multimedia, the people in media, the people as media and most especially “What is Media Information Literate
The History of Media Information Literacy
Information and Media Literacy (IML) enables people to interpret and make informed judgments as users of information and media, as well as to become skillful creators and producers of information and media messages in their own right. That is the exact definition of MIL .
Prior to the 1990s, the primary focus of Information Literacy has been research skills. Media Literacy, a study that emerges around the 1970s traditionally focuses on the analysis and the delivery of information through various forms of media.Nowadays, the study of Information Literacy has been extended to include the study of Media Literacy in many countries like UK, Australia and New Zealand. The term Information and Media Literacy is used by UNESCO to differentiate the combined study from the existing study of Information Literacy. It is also defined as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the United States. Educators, such as Gregory Ulmer, has also defined the field as electracy.
Here are some kinds of Media :
NEWSPAPER
By: Cylle Cabison
Newspapers, as their name suggests, provide us with News. With the spread of education, the popularity and importance of newspapers have increased by leaps and bounds. Everybody today wants to read a newspaper. Those who cannot read themselves want others to read it out to them. Even in a backward country, like India, newspapers have become very popular. They are published in English, Hindi, Urdu and in all other regional dialects of the country. They are read, or listened to, with great interest by everybody. They exercise a profound influence on the minds of the people. The most important function of newspapers is to bring us news of the world. News is their chief interest and charm. They tell us what is happening not only in our country by in other countries of the world as well. Without newspapers, we would be like a frog in a well who knows nothing of the outside world. In a democratic country, like India, they are an important means of forming public opinion. They comment on current events and criticize or appreciate the conduct of the government. It is through them that the public comes to know of the problems that face the country and the different possible ways of solving those problems. They, thus, educate the public mind and enable the people to have their own opinion on matters of public importance. They, thus, make democracy possible. Everyone must read newspapers. This is essential for national integration. This is essential to keep down fissiparous tendencies. Besides this, the newspapers are also an important means of communication between the government and the people. It is through the newspapers that the government places its programmes, its policies, and its achievements, before the people. The public also uses them to express its dissatisfaction with the government. They voice the grievances of the people and suggest measures of reform. Thus, by expressing public opinion they serve as a check on the government. They are essential for the proper functioning of democracy. The press is all powerful in a democracy. A free press is essential for its success. Newspapers are also an important means of advertisement. They help trade and commerce. If a trade or an industrialist wants to increase his business, he can do so by advertising his goods in the newspapers. They help both the employer and the employees through their ‘wants’ columns. The large number of advertisement of every kind is a clear proof of the popularity of the newspapers as a means of advertisement. But the newspapers have some drawbacks also. They serve as a means of propaganda for the various political parties. Often views and comments are expressed through them that confuse the people and misguide them. The people fail to understand the truth. Sometimes, news are even twisted and distorted. At other times, they stir up class hatred. They sow seeds of communal quarrels. This misuse of newspapers did much to encourage agitations in Gujrat, Bihar and other parts of the country. Often they publish wrong advertisements which deceive and cheat the people and corrupt the public taste by giving indecent pictures and advertisements. But these disadvantages are nothing in comparison with their manifold advantages. They are really of great use for the people. So they should be encouraged in every way. On the whole, the habit of reading newspapers is a good one.

Books
By: Willy Jane Marces
Books plays an important role in in our life. Books are our friends in a real sense. They demand nothing from us. They give us plenty of joy. We also learn a lot from them. They take us into a different world of imagination.
Good books improve our standard of living. They tone up our intellectual taste they make our outlook broad. They console us when we are depressed.
Books encourage us when we are defeated. They inspire us to work hard with hope and courage. They remove our ignorance and add to our knowledge. Books enrich our experience and sharpen our intellect. Thus a good book is our true friend.
A man must avoid reading bad books. They may make our life miserable. We may have to suffer because of bad books. They develop in us bad habits. They mislead and misguide. Bad books ruin our intellect. They spoil our interest in reading good and serious books. We must avoid reading such bad and cheap books because they waste our time and energy.
We should develop a healthy habit of reading books. We must select the books carefully. We should read only good books. Reading good books has many advantages. Bad books spoil our character. They develop unhealthy habits in us. We should follow children and young men to read only good books. They should act upon the lessons they learn from such books. A good book is our ‘friend, philosopher and guide’.
Everybody wants pleasure in life. Man wants wealth and power for the sake of pleasure. He wants to have good health so that he may enjoy life more and more. In the modern age man seeks pleasure everywhere. All the discoveries and inventions of science are made for human happiness. Even saints and sanyasis live a life of suffering in this world for divine pleasure in the other world.
We can get pleasure from various things. Spots, games and films are some of them. But the reading ofbooks gives us the real pleasure of life. When we read good book, we forget ourselves. We do not remember the care and anxieties of the world. We are sent into a land of beauty, imagination and happiness. So, books are the source of the greatest pleasure in life.
Well-read man is loved by all. He is a store house of information. He knows something of everything. A well read man can be very good talker. He can entertain us with his good talks. He shows his worth at a social function. He can talk about many things. So, we do not feel dullness and boredom in the company of such persons. This is another advantage of reading books.
Books are of different kinds. Some books deal with topics of general nature. Everybody likes to read those books. There are also some books on certain topics. Such books are written for a particular set of readers. A general reader likes to read books of general nature. They give us knowledge and pleasure.

We should be very careful while we select books. Good books develop in us many qualities. A man of wide reading is a man of culture. Books, magazines and journals do not bore us. They make our life happy. But bad books spoil our taste. Only a sincere reader of good books knows what divine pleasure he gets from reading books. Books plays an important role in in our life. Books are our friends in a real sense. They demand nothing from us. They give us plenty of joy. We also learn a lot from them. They take us into a different world of imagination.Good books improve our standard of living. They tone up our intellectual taste they make our outlook broad. They console us when we are depressed.

RADIO
By: Kyle Matthew Baring
Radio is a way to send electromagnetic signals over a long distance, to deliver information from one place to another. A machine that sends radio signals is called a transmitter, while a machine that "picks up" the signals is called a receiver. (A machine that does both jobs is called a "transceiver".) When radio signals are sent out to many receivers at the same time, it is called a broadcast.
History of Radio
· 1888: German physicist Heinrich Hertz (1857–1894) made the first electromagnetic radio waves in his lab.
· 1894: British physicist Sir Oliver Lodge (1851–1940) sent the first message using radio waves in Oxford, England.
· 1899: Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi (1874–1937) sent radio waves across the English Channel. By 1901. Marconi had sent radio waves across the Atlantic, from Cornwall in England to Newfoundland.
· 1906: Canadian-born engineer Reginald Fessenden (1866–1932) became the first person to transmit the human voice using radio waves. He sent a message 11 miles from a transmitter at Brant Rock, Massachusetts to ships with radio receivers in the Atlantic Ocean.
· 1906: American engineer Lee De Forest (1873–1961) invented the triode (audion) valve, an electronic component that makes radios smaller and more practical. This invention earned De Forest the nicknamed "the father of radio."
· 1910: First public radio broadcast made from the Metropolitan Opera, New York City.
· 1920s: Radio began to evolve into television.
· 1947: The invention of the transistor by John Bardeen (1908–1991), Walter Brattain (1902–1987), and William Shockley (1910–1989) of Bell Labs made it possible to amplify radio signals with much more compact circuits.
· 1954: The Rgency TR-1, launched in October 1954, was the world's first commercially produced transistor radio. Around 1500 were sold the first year and, by the end of 1955, sales had reached 100,000.

Impotance of radio
The radio is important in both developing and fully developed countries for information provision. It is able to function when television stations are not and is more easily accessed than the newspaper is. The information that is given over the radio is able to be broadcast to a large number of listeners and provides them with instantaneous information.
The radio is important for already developed countries because it not only provides news information, but it also provides entertainment. Despite the onslaught of digital music, radio stations still play the top hits in various music genres. Radio stations give listeners new music to listen to while also offering a variety of music options. The radio also allows people to keep up-to-date with the latest trends in popular culture.
Unlike other media types, such as newspapers, radio stations have the ability to become a reliable source of information in areas where information is scarce. People from all around the world can search the airwaves for reliable sources of information even when phone lines are cut and the Internet is blocked. Radio also plays an important role in war zones. Small communities benefit from local radio stations that provide news about local issues that would otherwise not make national headlines.

MOBILE PHONE
By: Faith Hycinth Reyes
Almost everyone has a mobile phone these days. Everywhere you go, you’ll see people sporting the latest mobile phone models. Mobile phones have completely changed the way people interact. You can call, send text messages, read emails, play games as well as read and edit documents on the go. Today, the mobile phone has become part and parcel of many people’s lives. Leaving home without your phone is akin to leaving without your shoes on. Clearly, the mobile phone is one of the phenomenal inventions of this age. So what are the repercussions of constantly using these devices day in day out? Let’s find out the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones below.
Advantages of Mobile Phone.
1. Easy Communication. Most people have at least a simple, if not sophisticated, mobile phone. These devices are convenient to carry around and you can use them on the go as long as there is network coverage wherever you are. Many parents allow their kids to own mobile phone because they feel secure in the knowledge that they can reach their kids wherever they are and at any time. Mobile phones have clearly made it easier to communicate.
2. Always Connected. With the upgrades made year in, year out, mobile phones are becoming more like computers with the added benefit of portability. One can receive and send emails, browse websites, download games and videos, book flight tickets, money transfer to banks and even chat with friends. With a mobile phone, you are connected to the internet throughout. You can search for places and directions for places that you are not familiar with, you can check out what your friends are up to on social media and you can even access your work PC remotely.
3. Multiple Uses. Mobile phones are convenient devices that can be used for a variety of tasks. You can listen to music, watch movies, play games, browse, store notes, make video calls, and also set an alarm for your waking up. You can even use some phones to control your TV. Mobile phones have become the modern day personal assistant.
4. Emergency Situations. Although the mobile phone doesn’t guarantee safety, you can use it to make calls whenever there is an emergency. Travelling with your phone is very important. In case you have an accident, you can always contact someone who will help you.
Disadvantages of Mobile Phone.
1. Constant Interruption. Since you’re always connected when you have your mobile phone, it becomes harder to ignore interruptions. People are always on their phones receiving calls, checking out their friends on Facebook, chatting on Whats App, checking emails and listening to music. It has become virtually impossible to avoid unneeded interruption. If you’re unable to control yourself, this can become a problem as you won’t have time to get anything important done. Furthermore, you can’t avoid work related emails and phone calls when you’re at home with your family or on vacation.
2. Possibility of Privacy LeakHaving all your information on your device is very convenient. However, it’s also dangerous because there’s a possibility of someone else accessing your phone. Mobile phone theft is quite common and it could leave you exposed. It is therefore important to secure your phone from unauthorized access. You should also avoid storing sensitive data such as bank and credit card details. It is also possible for someone to hijack your email and social media accounts using your phone for malicious reasons.
3. Distraction. The accidents caused by usage of mobile phones when driving is innumerable. The temptation to pick an important call when driving is huge. While you may have done it successfully in the past, it is not a good idea. The distraction could easily cause you to lose control of the car and consequently cause an accident. While it is possible to put your phone on hands free mode, it is usually best to wait until you get to your destination or even pull over in order to pick the call. The mobile phone can also disrupt a meeting or class if proper etiquette is not followed. The phone ringing during a class or meeting can distract the attendees and waste precious time. Always put your phone in silent mode when you are in such a circumstance.
4. Affect Real Interaction. Today, socializing that involves real interaction is very rare. People have been reduced to interacting on social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, or chat applications such as Viber and WhatsApp. While there’s nothing expressly wrong with chatting with your friends on these platforms, it can be a problem if it is done at the expense of face to face interaction. It can easily take you away from the real life activities and you will find it hard interacting with real people. In a family where every family member has a mobile phone and uses it every time they are together, it might cause breakdown of relationships and families.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY By : Ainah Alonto
Wearable Gadgets
History:
Similar to the notion first brought to the stage by Google Glasses, the Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses was recently featured in CES 2013. The glasses pairs with your Android smartphone via Bluetooth and comes packed with Android 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi and 4GB of storage.
Launch apps from your smartphone and watch everything displayed on the 800×400 pixel screen right before your very eyes (literally!). Enter the world ofaugmented reality with this cool wearable gadget.
Advantages:
1. Glass is sleek, light and easily wearable and you won’t require keeping it on and off your pockets, like mobile phones.
2. No Bluetooth or camera needed when Glass is on, it’ll do all for you.
3. Glass will provide you detailed information and satisfactory results on your queries.
4. Make phone calls, sms, emails though Google Glass, no smartphone required.
5. Keep your calendar events, information, contacts updated on Glass.
6. Easier navigation and maps will be provided through Glass.
7.Glass will make you look hi-tech and updated on technology and create an impressive impact on people.
Disadvantages:
1. Glass might give you a ‘nerdy’ look that might create clumsiness among people.
2. No indication while clicking pictures (like pointing the camera) which almost sounds like a hidden camera trying to capture a non-ready subject.
3. Chances are there to drop yourself down in the road while reading a text or email since you can’t get your eyes off it.
4. No public privacy concern so the worry of leaking out information still remains.
5. Competition is on pace. The future might bring a contact lens version of Glass after which Google Glass is supposed to sink.

History:
The I’m Watch is a smartwatch that has its own market of apps. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and once connected, it does what your smartphone does. You can receive notifications, read emails or messages, and make or receive calls.
The watch is touchscreen and can act as a hands-free device with its built-in microphone. It also has an app store, and programmers are able to build new apps for its unique ecosystem. Available in seven colors, it is on the market at $400 a pop.
Advantages:
1. Smartwatches could potentially help people with their health and fitness tracking. This is already true of some of the smartwatches being released, and we are sure to see more smartwatches with fitness capabilities in the near future, especially because of the fact that many smartwatches are including things like accelerometers.
2. Some smartwatches already include the use of a SIM card, and can make or take calls on their own without having to be paired with a smartphone.
3. Smartwatches attempt to simplify our daily functions. The notion is that analyzed data and critical information will be at your immediate disposal, simplifying daily functions dramatically and making you more productive and efficient. Disadvantages:
1. Many smartwatches today is the fact that a lot of them aren’t exactly the most stylish things on the planet.
2. That price is more than a high-end unlocked smartphone costs today just for the hardware.
3. A bigger battery would be needed.
