A riddle for ya: on Christmas Eve Detective finds tied up naked Agent Mason in their bed. Does this mean that they were good this year or quite the opposite?  😈

I did not receive any presents this year, so I had to take matters into my own hands and gift myself a gorgeous man. Spent better portion of the holidays working on this one, but I have no regrets.

What are the love languages of the UBs?

Sera actually answered this back in the day, but didn’t expand on it so I will lol.

A’s is ‘Acts of Service’ which actually makes a lot of sense considering how much they struggle with being open and vulnerable with their feelings. They prefer a much more subtle approach, one they can easily write off as just doing their job if they get called out on it. Examples of A’s love language include the multiple times they’ve gone out of their way to walk/drive the detective home (I know every LI does this, but it hits particularly hard with A when you consider this is their way of expressing care) as well as several instances detailed in some of Sera’s old scenario asks, my favorite being this sweet fic about A volunteering to help the detective make cupcakes. There’s also a really great fic on Patreon about A spending the morning clearing snow off the detective’s car and clearing an entire pathway for them to leave and ahhhhh it just gets me every time.

N’s is ‘Quality Time’ because of course it is. Spending time with the people they care about means everything to them. Maybe that’s why there’s so much emphasis put on how dang hard it is to get a moment alone with them in their route and why, when they finally manage to squeeze in some alone time, N always seems really happy. A great example of N’s love language is their line during the research scene when the detective comments on how at ease they seem and they respond with (and I’m paraphrasing here), “How could I not be? You with me in my favorite place? I wouldn’t mind seeing you in here a lot more often.” Just think of how happy N must have been in that moment. Honestly, if they hadn’t left to stop themselves from getting too horny they probably would’ve sat in there with the detective all day. And there have also been several asks that emphasize N’s distaste for distractions like phone calls when they and the detective are doing things together and oftentimes they will tell the detective that they don’t want them to focus on anything else while they're together. Seriously, why would you ever focus on anything else when N freakin’ Sewell is in front of you? What could possibly be more interesting? Look, bottom line is we’ve seen how difficult it is for N to get a moment alone with life and their teammates always getting in the way. If the stars are finally going to align and give N a few precious moments with the detective, then they want to make sure they’ve got the detective’s undivided attention because they never know how long it’ll be until the next moment alone. So you better believe they’re going to make every second count. 

F’s is ‘Words of Affirmation’ and it makes a lot of sense given how openly F likes to express their thoughts and feelings regarding, well, just about everything lol. I mean, just think of all the times in the books so far that F’s called the detective attractive or smart or amazing. They’re not doing it just to be a flirt either. F is a very blunt person who tells it like it is, so if they tell the detective they’re amazing it’s because F truly believes with every fiber of their being that the detective is amazing. And they want the detective to know it too. F’s love language is particularly interesting to me because, out of all the members of UB, F is the one who is most in need of a partner whose love language at least somewhat aligns with theirs. I don’t think F’s partner’s primary love language has to be words of affirmation, but I do think they need someone who is willing to toss them some of those praises every once in a while, if only to reassure them that the love they're pouring out is wholeheartedly reciprocated and not just one-sided like some of their previous relationships. And honestly, what would be better than getting into a compliment battle with F? Nothing, that’s what. 

M’s is ‘Physical Touch’ and sure yeah that does include those kind of touches, so it’s not really that big of a surprise. But it’s the softer touches that really get me. There were surprisingly quite a few examples of the gentler side of M’s love language in their book 3 demo, including running the back of their hand along the detective’s cheek in silent comfort in the forest scene, holding the detective’s hand if they were particularly afraid of the bounty, and the soft neck kiss they gave the detective before leaving them at their door in the warehouse. These gentler touches are going to become more and more commonplace as M’s route progresses and will eventually become M’s preferred way of expressing their love for the detective as opposed to outright saying it. Which I just really really love for them. There’s so many unspoken things in M’s route, so many subtleties that seem unimportant, but actually hold a lot of depth and meaning when you examine them closer. And so the idea of M’s fingers brushing the detective’s when they sit near each other or M absentmindedly leaning closer to the detective when they have a conversation, especially if M’s not aware they’re doing it, is just so delicious dude like I don't know what to tell you.

Not be horny on main BUT between the UBs who do you think would leave hickeys and "love bite" on detective while they're having sex? Also I'm the only one who thinks F would call it "making love"??

Lol well according to this ask, only F and M would potentially be into it, but I think the ask was referring to the kind of bites that involve blood...? So for the purposes of this, we’re just going to go with regular hickeys. 

I don’t really see hickeys being A’s thing tbh? I don't know, maybe it’s because sex is so much more about the emotional connection than the act itself for them. Hickeys are a teensy bit on the rougher side and A strikes me as more of the gentle caress, slowly memorizing the lines of your body and committing them to memory sort. But I guess it depends on the mood they’re in at the time. Catch A at the right moment where the sexual tension is boiling over and they’re one second away from shoving you into the nearest wall and going to town and maybe hickeys would be right up their alley.

After briefly consulting with my spicy N mentor (@agentnatesewell), I can confidently say that I think N would be into hickeys, but would keep them away from the neck area.  That’s a little too close for comfort for their liking. But thicker areas like the waist or hips or maybe the inner thighs if they’re feeling extra spicy are just fine. And even though N doesn’t like giving hickeys, they sure were eager to expose their own neck for the detective to lick in the Book 3 demo which is something I found particularly interesting and definitely worth noting...

F might be a little confused by the request at first and might even laugh once it’s explained to them, but I think they’d be up for it and pretty damn good at it actually. They’re all about letting loose and having fun, after all. As for your other ask, I could only see F using the term “making love” ironically lol. 

I subscribe to @twc-thoughts-you-didnt-ask-for’s headcanon that M has a bit of a claiming kink when it comes to the detective, so I think hickeys would pretty much be a staple in the bedroom. I think they’re particularly fond of the ones that are difficult to hide and would mark up those areas as much as possible so they can have the immense satisfaction of seeing the detective roll into the station the next day in a turtleneck and long pants.

“Why are you dragging me outside at so late an hour?” Adam complains as I pull him out onto the roof.

“Oh, I don’t want to hear it,” I scoff. “Besides, it’s not like you would be sleeping.”

“But you should be,” he counters.

Shrugging, I raise my hands in a “whatever” gesture. “Eh, I don’t sleep much, anyway. Bipolar, remember?” I remind him.

“You still have not answered my question,” he points out.

“Just shut up and look at the damn sky.” Rolling my eyes, I sit down and dangle my feet off the edge of the roof.

“You should be careful,” he warns, sitting next to me. “A fall from this height would gravely injure you.”

“I’ll be fine,” I insist. “Besides, with your reflexes, you would grab me before I even fell in the first place.” When he doesn’t respond, I turn my attention back to the sky, admiring the stars.

“What, exactly, am I supposed to be seeing?”

I sigh. “Be patient. Just wait a second.” After a moment, a streak of light traverses the sky. “There!” I exclaim, pointing excitedly. “Did you see it?”

Adam hums in response. “Is there a reason you’re showing me a meteor shower?”

“You’ve seemed stressed lately,” I explain as another comet flashes across the sky. “I thought this might help you relax.”

“I appreciate the sentiment,” Adam replies. “But I am fine.”

I bite my tongue, attempting to refrain from making one of my usual smart-ass remarks. Adam seems to notice my struggle, glancing over at me and heaving a sigh. “If there is something on your mind, you should say it.”

Scowling, I cross my arms over my chest. “You’re exhausting, you know that?”

“Perhaps you should spend less time concerning yourself with my welfare and more time worrying about your own,” he shoots back, but there’s no bite to his tone.

Sighing, I gaze up at him. “Is that really what you want?” I ask tiredly. “Because I can try, if you tell me to. I can’t promise it’ll work, but I’ll make the effort if that’s what you truly want.”

Adam frowns, looking away. “It… would be easier if you did,” he says hesitantly, “for the both of us.”

“But is it what you want?” I press.

He turns back to me, eyes pleading. “It doesn’t matter what I want,” he whispers, sounding defeated.

“Of course it does.” I give a soft smile. “If you do, then I can do that, but if not, I can keep waiting,” I admit, barely louder than a whisper. “It would be worth it. So tell me, Adam: do you really want me to leave you alone?”

“No,” he breathes, almost desperately, voice so quiet I almost think I imagined it. “No, I don’t.”

Swallowing hard, I nod, ignoring the fluttering in my stomach and trying to collect my thoughts so I can form a coherent response. “Okay then,” I say finally, turning back to look at the comets. I lean my head on his shoulder. “I’ll keep waiting.”

It takes him a moment to respond, and for a second I worry I’ve scared him off again, but then I feel him relax into me. “Okay,” he repeats, and I can’t hold back my smile.

The way it is written is beautiful and the characters are all great to interact with ^^ My silly question is: Since they all have heightened senses, how would they react to the MC putting their ice cold feet on their backs underneath the bed covers? Huehue~

A would probably grit their teeth, get out of bed, go grab a hot water bottle, get back into bed, shove the water bottle over the MC’s feet and try to go back to sleep and ignore the smile they can’t help but give when the MC whispers, ‘Thank you’.

N would likely gasp, roll over, and then tug the MC into a cuddle and wrap their legs and feet around the MC’s to warm them up.

F would probably shriek loudly and ask ‘What the hell is wrong with you?!’ :D

M would probably tense up immensely, turn around, nuzzle into the MC’s neck and whisper, ‘Do that again and I’m pushing you out of the goddam bed’.
