At that moment, they heard sirens as the ambulance pulled up on the street. Willow waved her hand to unlock the door, and when someone knocked she called, "It's open." Two paramedics rushed in, one tending first to Giles, the other approaching Adam.
Looking from him to Willow, the man asked, "Can you both walk?"
"Perfect." Adam muttered, closing his eyes. "Of course we don't remember everything. Details are fuzzy. We could have a trauma from the impact." He shrugged and flinched immediately. Not a good idea.

"Well," Willow said, "We could say that your arm got ran over because the kidnapper lost a grip on you trying to get you into their vehicle. Maybe I had a hold of you and he burned my arm to get me to let go, then shut my shoulder in a door. Does that work for everyone?"

"Oh." The watcher decided laying back down was the best course of action. "Yes, well, all things considered, I should apologize for not having my bedroom warded." Giles lifted his head in Adam's general direction. "I didn't know you could manifest lightning."

"More brilliance," Giles mumbled. He must have made out the only two other shapes in the room, because he rolled over quickly as if to stand. "Where is Icarus?"
"He's safe, relax. Janice is picking him up." Her arm was starting to sting again, and she looked from it to Giles, saying, "You and I are making an appointment for tattoos once we're not so broken. We cannot have this happening again."
The watcher managed to sit up completely, his brow furrowed. "Can't have...I'm sorry, between the blurred vision and the absence of memory, I'm completely lost."

"Don't get up, Giles," Willow said, leaning forward. "You were electrocuted. We have an ambulance coming."
The watcher leaned his head back, opening his eyes and blinking several times. "Oh, jolly good. I can't remember a thing. What happened to my glasses?"
Adam nodded and stared up at the ceiling again. He chuckled dryly at Giles’ question. “A lot of things happened… Mainly Malphas and his funhouse.”

"He plays mind games too, Adam. Most demons do. Malphas is just so straightforward that it gets hard to tell when he's being manipulative." Willow sighed, wiping her face with one hand and looking down at Giles, who had begun to stir.
"Oh," he moaned, squinting as he tried to sit up. "What the bloody hell happened?"
"I was just wondering." Adam shrugged, then nodded. "He mentioned something the like... It's a good point though." He smiled at Willow softly. "Thank you!"

"What?" she asked, her brow furrowed as she replaced the receiver. "Where did-hold on. Malphas said something like that, didn't he?" This time Willow didn't try to walk, but simply lowered herself into the desk chair. "Adam, I wouldn't even think to be mad at you. Not for this, not ever. Okay?"
Adam nodded, then smiled a bit as he listened to Willow's half of the conversation. "Sounds good..." He muttered after Willow had hung up. Then his brow furrowed and he looked up at Willow. "Are you mad at me for sleeping through the attack?"

Willow nodded, finally reaching the phone once more. "He should remember Janice, and if not, he'll reach out to me." She dialed a longer number and waited for the woman to answer, then said, "Hi, Janice? I'm sorry, I know it's early, but do you remember the safe house? Yeah, can you bring Icarus to the hospital? No, he's fine, it's the rest of us that need medical attention. Yeah, we'll be okay, we're getting there. Thanks, Janice."
"So she knows where he is hiding? But will he know she's not a threat?"
His look hardened when he caught sight of the burn. "Sorry... Should have gotten us out earlier." His head fell back against the couch. "Good morning, by the way."

Willow had been trying to work that out herself. "I'll call Janice. It's been a while since she's watched Icarus, but I'm sure she won't mind. She's probably not used to late-night phone calls anymore." She stood once more, biting her lip hard and still unable to suppress a moan. In glancing down at her shoulder, she caught sight of the burn on her arm. "So much for that tattoo," she mumbled, making her way back to the phone.

She looked from his arm to his chest then down at her lap. "Thank you for getting us out of that. I was sure we were all dead."

Adam bit his lip as he helped Willow remove the cloth. Still he couldn’t help tearing up at every movement. “It’s fine… You didn’t order him.” Adam pressed out, his eyes shut tightly.
"Yeah, but who delivers in the middle of the night, anyway?" She held onto the bar so it wouldn't simply drop on his arm once it was free. Placing it on the coffee table, Willow said, "The scary part is, it could have been worse."
Looking up at Adam, she leaned carefully to rest against the table. "I didn't know you could manifest lightning like that."

Willow turned to him after replacing the receiver, leaning against the desk as she winced. "Alright, I think it'll take both of is to do that." She straightened up and made her way back to the couch, kneeling rather than risk the jolt from the couch.
"So, yeah, that was the demon I've been trying to kill for six years," she mumbled, pulling gently at the cloth to untie it. "Sorry we had to meet him on his playing field."

Adam nodded. The pain was slowly returning as his adrenalin levels went down, and his arm was just hanging by his side. He was trying not to move it or use the muscles, now just plain scared of the pain - he remembered how horrible it was.
"Neither of us can drive, so," she stood slowly, stepping softly towards the phone on the desk. Willow lifted the receiver and dialed with the same hand, cradling it on her good shoulder as it rang. "Yes, we're at 42 Prescott Lane, and we've had a break in. Three of us here, and we're all hurt...no, the attacker left. But we can't drive...yeah, no moving. Got it."

"Yes, I'm terrible sorry, I'm aware of the hour. My name is Rupert Giles. I'm a friend. I wouldn't call so late, except it's rather urgent. It concerns her son."

They landed in the living room, and it wasn't until Willow tried pulling Giles onto the couch that she remembered her broken clavicle. She fell back with a gasp, biting her lip to keep from yelling. Looking to Adam's arm, she mumbled, "I think we're all going to need a trip to the hospital."
