What To Do Now That China Doesn't Want Our Recycling

For years, recycling has created complex problems. There are various issues on the topic of recycling. With global warming and many other environmental issues arising, it is very important to address issues in this category. This is an environmental issue because it affects the surroundings that we all live in. Without proper handling, what seems to be a very small issue can become a very large problem. There are many causes that could lead to these problems, and in turn, there are many effects that can come about from the problems. It is important that they are handled immediately because they affect life as we know it. In some cases, life can even be shortened because of these problems.

When this waste is not handled properly items can end up in areas that they should not be. A famous example of this is when plastic bottles find their way into the ocean. For many years, plastic bottles have served as a fantastic way to store and consume liquid products. However, plastic is a reusable item and should be stored in the proper place. Sometimes, plastic bottles find themselves away from waste management facilities and end up in the ocean. When this happens wildlife suffers. Some wildlife can choke on these hazardous materials, or be entangled in the various different shapes. Plastic bottles and other plastic waste are not good for the ecosystem underwater. It is better than fish and water plants have a natural habitat. With a natural habitat, fish are free to swim and search for food. When plastic waste finds its way to their habitat, this makes it hard for them to do the things they need to do to survive. With some fish just barely surviving already, we should not make it harder for them. However, when we do not properly handle waste management that is exactly what we are doing.

For quite some time, a solution to these dangers was to sell our recyclable materials to other countries. The number one country among that list was China. However, recently, China has decided to decline recyclable plastic. There is just too much of it and they have had enough. Although the country uses our recyclable materials for the advancement of new products, they already have enough to sustain their future endeavors. As an alternative, we have chosen to look at other countries that might be interested in the purchase of our plastic waste. Among that list is Indonesia, but they are no comparison to China. So, it is important to start thinking about other options and use a trash broker when appropriate.

Alternatively, the U.S. and other countries that relied so heavily on China may start looking inwards for ways to manage their recyclable waste. Maybe in time, they will even learn how to make a profit off of this waste. Most importantly, we need to keep it out of the oceans and other places it should not be.
