Designing the entire disaster lineage as cats🐱(Reupload)
I accidentally made some design errors, so I had to redo them... To make up for my mistake, there's a small surprise in the end ^^
This is one of my oldest Aus that I'm working on; it's a mix of my two favorite fandoms: StarWars and Warriors(cats)
Honestly, I never thought I would be posting this here on Tumblr.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this👍
The disaster lineage:
This is their actual size chart
Tumblr media
My favorite trio:
Tumblr media
Dooky and Quiggs becuz they deserve more love:
Tumblr media
Ref sheets:
Horizonstar/step(Yoda):
Name Meaning:
"Horizon" carried the meaning of him being the leader of his clan, a beacon of light in the distance, "Step" meant he was always one step ahead of his clanmates, thus using his knowledge and power to help his cats.
Tumblr media
Frostshard(Dooku):
Name Meaning:
I chose "Frost" because of his cold, collected, haughty demeanor, and "Shard", his presence being able to hurt others, like when you touch a broken shard of glass. It also represents his sharpness.
Tumblr media
Sagepelt(Qui-Gon-Jinn):
Name Meaning:
"Sage" symbolizes his wisdom of the living Force, spiritual sanctity, vice, and virtue, which some knights thought he was delusional, while others respected his high moral standards.
If you look at a sage plant, the leaves are fuzzy, and they often grow in large swishing bushels, hence the suffix "Pelt"
Tumblr media
Hazeldusk(Obi-Wan-Kenobi):
Pls ignore his traumatized face
Anyway
Name Meaning:
I chose "Hazel" because of his pelt color and warm/comforting personality. "Dusk" has a deeper meaning; Hazel trains Skyfire, who turns to the dark side and brings Dawnclan's legacy to an end; therefore, Hazel teaches the one who brought the "Dusk" of Dawnclan's era.
Tumblr media
Skyfire(Anakin Skywalker):
Name Meaning:
I chose "Sky" because of his godlike abilities, for in many countries and religions, the sky was where the gods lived, "Fire" because of him being ferocious yet warm/loving like a small bit of flame in a hearth. It also foreshadows how he would fall, consumed into flames.
Tumblr media
Tawnyrain(Ahsoka-Tano):
Name Meaning:
I chose "Tawny" because of her pelt color, and "Rain", symbolizes her abandoning the teachings of Dawnclan when she goes into exile, like the rain washing over dust and grime, the corruption of Dawnclan ways, coated over her innocence and pure heart.
Tumblr media
Long yap incoming...
<Lore>
<Dawnclan/ The Jedi Order>
Dawnclan was created over a thousand years ago by four Force-sensitive cats: Sunspirit(Cala Brin), Tigerblaze(Rajivari), Valorsoul(Garon Jard), and Eclipseshadow(Ters Sendon).
"True justice cannot be driven by emotion. We knights can set our passions aside, and seek the truth without fear or favor." - Sunspirit
"When Dawnclan's order began, I saw we must be dedicated to peace. To calm our emotions, and end war across the galaxy. If we fought, it should only be in self-defense. That is the founding principle of civilization." - Valorsoul
"So much is fleeting. But I remain. And I remain the cat I was." - Tigerblaze
"I am Eclipseshadow, keeper of the histories. A founder, and chronicler, of Dawnclan." - Eclipseshadow
<About Dawnclan>
-They walk the dreams of their ancestors in Starclan, a clan created by the light side of the Force.
-A Force-Sensitive kit is taken to the temple at a very young age, training in the basic forms of dueling.
-Padawans(apprentices) train for approximately two years with their assigned Master, the names usually ending with a 'Paw'(a universal suffix meaning apprentice or student)
-Knights must at least have trained an apprentice before they can be selected for the Dawnclan Council, a group of the most talented cats.
-A Dawnclan knight is forbidden to take a mate or have kits.
<The Dawnclan Code>
There is no Emotion, there is Peace
There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge
There is no Passion, there is Serenity
There is no Chaos, there is Harmony
There is no Death, there is the Force
<Darkhaven/ The Sith Order>
It is hard to know the birth of Darkhaven, yet one thing is for sure, evil has lurked since no beginning nor end.
The official name of these dark warriors was created by Hellfire, a soulless she-cat whom many say was the embodiment of evil itself.
The Fate Wars, the first great war in the Galaxy, led to the victory of the knights of Dawnclan, who built their main camp on the ruins of Darkhaven.
After the events of the Fate Wars, two more happened during the history of the Galaxy:
The first was the Cold War: in which former Darkhavener Corvidheart(Darth Revan) challenged the Emperor Vortexvoid(Emperor Vitalle) to reclaim balance on both sides.
The second was the Grey Wars: Darkhaven leader Stormcutter(Darth Malgus) brought the Dawnclan order to its knees and took over for a long time. This caused a rebellion act against the Darkhaven Empire by normal citizens, and as a result, the Republic was born - an invisible group that consisted of various clans and tribes to discuss peace and to help each other in crisis.
Many years passed after the Grey Wars, and one by one, the warriors of Darkhaven were hunted down by the knights of Dawnclan.
Nightshade(Darth Bane), the last known leader of Darkhaven, and the maker of the Rule of Two, swore revenge. They will always lurk in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Her apprentice Plagueshadow(Darth Plagueis) continued her work in silence, training the dreaded Lightningstrike(Darth Sidious), who would create the most feared and powerful Darkhavener of all time: Lord Deadsoul(Darth Vader)
<About Darkhaveners>
When a Dawnclan knight falls to the Dark side, their features grow haughty and sharp because of the Dark Forest water.
Only Darkhaveners have orange eyes.
They usually have red crystals on their foreheads but in rare circumstances, purple or black could be seen also.
They communicate with the Dark Forest, an everlasting place of the Dark side of the Force, with murky water and wizened trees.
They have the Rule of Two, only allowing a Master and an Apprentice to live.
<The Darkhaven Code>
Peace is a lie, there is only Passion
Through Passion, I gain Strength
Through Strength, I gain Power
Through Power, I gain Victory
Through Victory, My Chains Are Broken
The Force shall set me Free
About Kyberclaws:
They glow red hot at the tip when unsheathed at battle mode. But they can't use them for long, or the heat would kill them(Yoda/Horizonstar has a record of using them for a full thirty minutes)
They are functioned by the Kyber Crystals on their foreheads and could cut through anything except Beskar Wood( a tree known for its silvery wood and toughness, used by the Mandalorian cats)
A Dawnclan cat develops this ability once they are 6 moons old, as their bodies mature enough to withstand the claw tip's deadly heat.
About crystals on foreheads:
The Crystals are the main source of the Kyberclaw's power, and when forcefully taken, it would cripple the owner for eternity(like a bird without wings)
When a Dawnclan cat dies, the Crystals turn a dead-looking grey, devoid of all power.
About Droids in the Au:
They are animals that are neither living nor dead(such as rats, foxes, shrews, badgers...etc)
Their commander controls them with the Smoke Crystals(used like comlinks)
About Starships in the Au:
They are huge birds of prey tamed by the cats.
Alright... the surprise... I'm actually astonished you scrolled all the way down here.
Cuddle Pile!!!

AlderSky AU Part 3
Meanwhile, back with the 4 Lake Clans...
Things have gone to fox-dung to put it mildly.
Sparkpaw is devastated after Alderpaw is taken by the Twoleg during the Quest for SkyClan and Sandstorm’s death. This is exacerbated by the fact that no one seems to grieve over her brother - even Bramblestar does not seem too torn up, though Squirrelflight is taking it harder than her mate, but not as hard as Sparkpaw.
She also notes that no one in ShadowClan seems to care about Needlepaw, but all of Sparkpaw’s thoughts and emotions are occupied with her brother.
Leafpool is still sent to ShadowClan to be their temporary Medicine Cat and train a new one. A patrol is sent out to try and locate Alderpaw, and possibly Needlepaw and SkyClan.
A few days later the patrol returns unsuccessful. After talking with Squirrelflight, Bramblestar declares that Alderpaw is probably not gonna be able to be found. This sends Sparkpaw into a flurry of grief and anger, as - to her ears at least - her father has basically all but declared Alderpaw a lost cause and good as dead.
She has a hard time focusing on her training after this, causing Cherryfall to be frustrated with her.
Sparkpaw does not pay the rogues/the Kin much mind during this time, thinking of them as the other Clan’s problem since they have not attacked ThunderClan yet.
Everything pretty much progresses the same as canon for a bit:
Sparkpaw becomes a warrior - named Sparkpelt (like in canon).
Puddleshine becomes ShadowClan’s new Medicine Cat.
The Kin takes over ShadowClan.
Rowanstar, Tawnypelt and Tigerheart take refuge in ThunderClan camp.
With the three ShadowClan cats in ThunderClan camp, Sparkpelt is snappy. She thinks that Rowanstar is wimpy and is not doing a good job as a leader.
During this time, Sparkpelt bonds with Lilyheart’s kits, Honeyfur, Leafshade and Larksong, but she grows particularly close to Larksong.
The gentle tom is always willing to listen to the orange she-cat, but is always willing to give advice and give Sparkpelt a new perspective on the situation.
It is actually thanks to these talks with Larksong that gets Sparkpelt to begin to plan and be more active in bringing Darktail down.
Sparkpelt is the one who sees Darktail tell Onestar, then sees Onestar call the retreat. Sparkpelt is furious at Onestar at this and she agrees with Mistystar that it was Onestar and Rowanstar’s fault the battle was lost.
She brings this up with Larksong, who, after listening to Sparkpelt vent, suggests that Darktail told Onestar something that might be either a threat or some kind of blackmail. Sparkpelt considers this, but also wonders what on earth Darktail could have told Onestar that made him so afraid that the WindClan leader called a retreat?
Sparkpelt does have the dream/vision of Echosong dying. She sees her brother, who she calls Alderpaw not knowing that he has his full name. She does not think that this is a vision, though, as she is not a Medicine Cat, she thinks this is just a weird dream of her missing her brother.
Sparkpelt brings up her dream to her parents in private. Bramblestar and Squirrelflight both think that the dream is just Sparkpelt missing her brother, but Sparkpelt brings up she does not recognize the other cats. This does give Bramblestar and Squirrelflight pause, but Rowanstar comes into the den and asks to speak with just the ThunderClan leader and deputy. Sparkpelt rolls her eyes as she exits the den.
Sparkpelt notices Dovewing and Bumblestripe talking at Purdy’s vigil.
Sparkpelt can’t help but think about Alderpaw ever since she had the dream. She talks to Larksong about this, as well as Honeyfur, who reassures Sparkpelt that her feelings of anger over Alderpaw’s disappearance and that no one is doing anything are valid. She tells the orange she-cat that she would feel the same way if it was Larksong taken. This does make Sparkpelt feel better, but it also makes her even more determined to find her brother - but she acknowledges that they will have to deal with Darktail first.
Sparkpelt & Larksong begin to put together a few patrols to try and spy on the Kin. It shakes out to one patrol of Sparkpelt, Stormcloud, Cherryfall, Ivypool, Minnowtail, & Curlfeather and another of Larksong, Honeyfur, Fernsong, & Lizardtail. The plan is for Sparkpelt’s bigger patrol to be the more obvious scouts, while Larksong’s smaller patrol sneak into the camp to rescue any prisoners.
The reason that the cats do not tell the leaders, deputies or Medicine Cats is because they are too busy arguing amongst themselves about their next attack.
The plan works. While Sparkpelt and her patrol battle the Kin, Larksong’s patrol manages to get The ShadowClan elders, Oakfur & Ratscar, ShadowClan queen, Snowbird, and her 3 kits, Gullkit, Frondkit & Conekit, and the RiverClan prisoners, Brackenpelt, Reedwhisker, Mintfur, & Icewing.
The leaders are amazed when the patrols return with the freed cats.
It is noted that Fernsong helped the tired and weakened Snowbird with her 3 kits.
Bramblestar asked Sparkpelt what happened and Sparkpelt explained that Bramblestar and the other leaders were just standing around doing nothing. Bramblestar tries to say that that is not what they were doing - but that pushes Sparkpelt over the edge. She snaps at Bramblestar that he has done nothing. He did little to find Alderpaw - his own son and a Medicine Cat apprentice - and he has let Darktail run rampant and all he and the other leaders have done is talk and lose battles.
Larksong interferes. He tells Bramblestar, a bit more calmly, that Sparkpelt is not wrong. He calls Bramblestar and the other leaders out on how poorly they have handled the situation, pointing each leader out on what each did wrong. He repeats Sparkpelt’s points about Bramblestar, before turning to Rowanstar and telling him that his poor leadership led to the Kin infestation in the first place. He does tell Mistystar that she has not done much faults - that she is honestly handling everything the best she could. But that does not mean that she is also guilty of inaction. He then points out that it was Onestar’s hasty retreat that led to them losing the recent battle.
The leaders are shocked, but ultimately humbled. They then agree to go to WindClan and figure out an actual plan of attack.
A patrol of Bramblestar, Sparkpelt, Larksong, Tigerheart, Dovewing, and Mistystar goes to WindClan to either talk or drag an explanation and plan out of Onestar. Onestar agrees to go with them back to ThunderClan camp to explain and plan, but on the condition that all of WindClan come so that no cat is left unprotected. They all agree.
When they get back to Thunderclan camp, Onestar explains to the leaders, deputies and a few cats (Sparkpelt, Larksong & Dovewing), that Darktail is his son and that he is on his last life. Sparkpelt wants to snap at him for his cowardliness, but Larksong interview, telling Onestar that he inadvertently causes a lot of suffering for the Clans - and that now is the time to make it right. Onestar hears this, and for the first time in a while, a fire lights within his eyes.

She-cat Firestar AU
NEW WARRIOR CATS AU!! Yes, starting a new one despite not even finishing my other one. This will be a what if Firestar was a she-cat. I will be mainly writing down things that changed and will be skimming over the stuff that stays the same. I will get back to the AlderSky Au soon, but I wanted to share this one as well. So, here we go ~
~ Into the Wild
Most things, including the major plot points, stay the same. Mainly the things that change in these events are little things. Such as:
Firepaw is noted to be very pretty
While Sandpaw is still snarky, but is a bit nicer to Firepaw, as she is happy that there is another she-cat in the Apprentice's Den
Firepaw does not have a crush on Spottedleaf
Everything else that happens in Into the Wild happens the same as in canon. Yes, even Fire's warrior name, Fireheart.
~ Fire and Ice
Again, most major events stay the same, but there are more difference's this time.
The journey to find WindClan is the same, with the minor exception that Onewhisker clearly thinks that Fireheart is pretty.
During the fight at the Gorge, Graystripe manages to grab onto Whiteclaw before he falls and Fireheart and Leopardfur help drag him up. Leopardfur is grateful for this, but still demands that they get off RiverClan territory.
Fireheart still gets Cinderpaw and Graystripe still gets Brackenpaw. Fireheart still spots Princess.
Graystripe still falls into the frozen river and is saved by Silverstream, but he does not fall in love with her at first sight. This is because Graystripe is already in love with Fireheart at this point, even if he does not consciously realizes it. As a result, Graystripe is around more as a mentor to Brackenpaw.
During the time Bluestar gets greencough, it is not Cinderpaw that gets injured, but Brackenpaw. When Fireheart goes to get the catmint, she tells Graystripe to keep an eye on Cinderpaw as her apprentice had already suggested going to meet Tigerclaw in Bluestar's place. Thanks to this, Cinderpaw is kept in camp and is not injured. However, Brackenpaw, wanting to be helpful, goes to try and meet Tigerclaw by the Thunderpath. As a result, it is Brackenpaw who's leg is injured.
Cinderpaw is guilty because she kicked so much of a fuss about it that Brackenpaw felt like he had to go and Graystripe is guilty that he did not pay close enough attention to Brackenpaw. Fireheart is trying to comfort everyone.
The next big change happens when Fireheart brings her nephew to ThunderClan. While the Clan still has trouble accepting him, they do eventually allow him to stay. This time though, Fireheart moves into the nursery to raise him. Brindleface still suckles him, but Fireheart is the one raising him, teaching him Clan ways and mothering him. Graystripe steps in as a father-figure to the kit. Fireheart is also the one to name him.
This where another big change comes in - Fireheart does not name him Cloudkit. Instead, she names him Snowkit, since it started snowing the day she brought him to camp.
Fireheart still trains Cinderpaw in her spare time, but Graystripe also stepped into to help mentor her.
Most things stay the same, with the minor changes that Fireheart is in the nursery, so there are times where she either cannot go to a Gathering and Graystripe relays what happened or Cinderpaw taking Brackenpaw's place in getting the patrols when the former ShadowClan cats attack camp.
When Snowkit sneaks out of camp with Fernkit and Ashkit, Fireheart is the one that alerts everyone. She is furious, if a tiny bit proud that Snowkit caught a vole for the Elders, and scolds Snowkit for putting himself and his friends in danger.
When Onewhisker comes for help during the attack on WindClan camp, Fireheart does not go, since she is technically a queen, so Graystripe relays what happens to her later.
When she hears this, Fireheart cannot help but worry for her Clan and new kin if Tigerclaw ever becomes Leader, a resolves to make sure he cannot hurt any other cat.
Aaaaand that is the end of part 1. Will post part 2 soon and the next part for AlderSky Au. Hope you enough!

Nursery Cat Position
Posting this to go with my AlderSky AU, but honestly is can be use for any AU story-line and will probably use it in other stories, but this Au is where it originates. If you want to add this rank into you own Warrior Cats AU stories, go for it! Hope you like it and hope this new rank inspires more warrior cat stories! Anyway, here we go!
A Nursery Cat is a Clan cat who stays in the nursery and assists queens and kits in various ways, whether it is watching kits, helping with delivery and labor, maintaining the nursery, helping mothers raise their kits, and watching over the health and welfare of the mothers and their kits. They will have some medicine training, mainly in herbs that are used to assist and treat queens and kits. They are also trained in some fighting techniques, mainly for defending the nursery and the cats in there. They can also hunt and will participate in hunting patrols.
Nursery Cats can begin training at 6 moons, but it is also not uncommon for cats who were previously warriors, queens or even Medicine Cats to exchange their previous lives to become Nursery Cats.
Nursery Cats can be of any gender, tom or she-cat. Nursery Cats are allowed to have mates and kits of their own.
Tasks Include:
Assisting expecting queens, when they are giving birth, and when they are nursing.
Maintaining the nursery.
Having knowledge of herbs and treatments to help queens and kits.
Helping raise the Clan’s kits.
Look over the welfare of the queens and kits.

AlderSky Au Part 2
Echosong begins training Alderpaw in earnest. She is both impressed by the young tom’s talent, but also worried as she can see the stress of dealing with the sickness lingering in him. She also tries to get him to distance himself from Reedkit, Finkit and Dewkit because the kits tend to look at him for fatherly advice and affection when they should be bonding with Sandynose and also because Medicine Cats are not suppose to have kits.
This however, begins to rub Alderpaw the wrong way. He begins to wonder 1) why are Medicine Cats forbidden from having mates or kits and 2) once again, if this is really the right path for him. He finds himself drawn more and more back to the nursery, even if it is to do something as simply as change the queen’s bedding. Echosong begins to notice this as well.
It all comes to ahead when Reedkit, Finkit and Dewkit sneak into Alderpaw’s nest one night when Sandynose is sleeping in the nursery with them. They express to Alderpaw that they miss him and are uncomfortable around Sandynose because they do not know him or recognize him as their father, even telling Alderpaw that he is their father, not Sandynose.
Alderpaw is touched by this. He never once considered himself a father to the kits, but he cannot deny that he loves them as if they were his own. But he also knows that Sandynose deserves to has somekind of relationship with them as well.
He tells the kits that he loves them - he will always love them, but that Sandynose loves them too, and all he wants is the chance to get to know them. Dewkit asks how can Sandynose love them if he does not even know them? Alderpaw explains that a parent’s love is so strong that they will love their kits even before they meet them. Sandynose has loved them before they were even born, and is was that love that encouraged him to continue looking for them.
Alderpaw tells the kits that he will always love them, but they should give Sandynose a chance, because there is nothing wrong with having more love in their lives.
The kits think about it and agree, but they do ask Alderpaw to walk them back to the nursery, which Alderpaw happily obliges.
The next morning, Alderpaw is thinking about the conversation with the kits. He knows the work of a Medicine Cat is important, especially now with Fidgetpaw missing, but he can feel his heart pulling him in another direction.
He goes to talk to Needlestorm about this. Needlestorm listens to him and asks him a question: where does he find himself feeling the most calm and at peace? Alderpaw does not have to think long before he says the nursery helping the queens and their kits. Needlestorm says than that might be where he is meant to be. Alderpaw then says that toms are not usually in the nursery. Needlestorm then snort, waving her tail around asking what part of the last few moons has been “normal”? She was born in ShadowClan, he ThunderClan, and now they are both in SkyClan, far from their birth Clans guiding SkyClan to the lake. SkyClan is clearly unique, from their names, to their history, to their rules, but it works for them. And besides, she adds, why is it a bad thing to have a tom who is knowledgeable about queen and kit health? Why would it be a bad thing to have a cat who stays in the nursery a lot helping with queen and kit care?
This takes Alderpaw back for a minute, remembering something. He suddenly asks Needlestorm if she has even heard of the ThunderClan cat Daisy? Needlestorm admits she has heard her name, but did not think much of her. Alderpaw explains that Daisy stays in the nursery full-time, staying to help queens through birth and kit care. There are generations of ThunderClan cats who’s earliest memories include Daisy, including his.
This gets Needlestorm’s attention. She says it sounds like what Alderpaw was doing before Fidgetpaw went missing. Alderpaw nods. Needlestorm then suggests that maybe he should talk to Leafstar and Echosong about making it an official position within the Clan. This surprises Alderpaw, who reiterates that he is a tom, but Needlestorm rebukes this, pointing out that if he was a she-cat, no one would bat an eye at him wanting to be in the nursery and care for kits, so why should it be any different because he is a tom? He can still learn about kit care and health, he can help raise them, why should he not be allowed to have a position like this?
Alderpaw thinks for a moment. He admits that his friend has a point, and that he is not really happy as a Medicine Cat Apprentice. Needlestorm tells him to talk to Leafstar and Echosong, and that she can with him if he wants. Alderpaw says yes.
Little do they know that Leafstar and Echosong are already talking about something.
Echosong brings up her concerns about Alderpaw’s stress levels to Leafstar, who has also noticed. While Alderpaw does a good job at not snapping any any cat, it is clear from just looking at him (un-groomed fur, jumpy attitude, loss of appetite) that the apprentice is close to the edge, which is concerning form both a well-being and logistic stand point. No one wants a young cat to die from stress and also Alderpaw and Needlestorm are their only connections and guides to the lake territories and they cannot afford to lose either of them.
This when Alderpaw and Needlestorm asks to speak with them. Both she-cats asks what they can do for them. Alderpaw is nervous as he admits to Echosong he does not think he is meant to be a Medicine Cat. Both she-cats blink and Alderpaw begins to stumble over himself trying to explain. Echosong silences him before he can begin to spiral. She tells him that while he has talent to be a Medicine Cat, she respects his choice to choose a different path.  Leafstar agrees with this and asks if this means Alderpaw wishes to train as a warrior?
Alderpaw says no and he and Needlestorm tell them about how he feels more drawn to the nursery than anything, how he loves caring for kits and helping the queens and about Daisy in ThunderClan and what she does. He and Needlestorm then propose a new Clan position, one where a cat is trained to learn how to care for queens and kits. Whether that means health, watching kits so their mothers can take a break, maintaining the nursery or anything else. He also says that his Medicine training does not have to go to wast, as kits get sick a lot and he will know what herbs to use to help them. Both Leafstar and Echosong agree that this is a good idea.
Alderpaw is taken aback at how quickly they agree, but is happy. He then nervously asks what this new position would be called? Leafstar purrs that she will think of something.
Later, when SkyClan arrives at the twolegplace and Leafstar makes Plumwillow’s and Pebbleshine’s kits apprentices, she also preforms a new ceremony for Alderpaw. It goes similarly to a warrior’s ceremony, only instead of asking him to protect his Clan, it is asking him to protect and care for the kits of SkyClan. Alderpaw affirms this and Leafstar renames him Alderheart and announces him as SkyClan’s first Nursery Cat. She explains to the Clan what this means. The whole Clan loves this new position. Needlestorm asks Leafstar if Nursery Cats are allowed to have mates and kits and Leafstar confirms that they are. Both Needlestorm and Alderheart are happy about this.
SkyClan soon sets off again to look for the lake...

AlderSky AU Part 1
So, when I was reading AVOS, I was always kind of expecting for Alderpaw/heart to join SkyClan as a poetic full circle kind of situation: His grandparents Fire and Sand were the ones to reform the lost Clan, he has SkyClan blood through Bramblestar (being a descendant of Cloudstar and Birdsong’s kits), and he raised Twig - it all just seemed so perfect!
But then the Erins decided to stick with the status quo and I could not help be feel like it was a huge wast of potential on Alderheart’s end. So, I decided to write my own version of Alderheart and Needletail joining SkyClan.
(There will be multiple parts and will be written in more of a summery style, so let me know if anyone wants a more story-like version) Now, let’s start!
Things are mostly the same up until the quest to find SkyClan, though it does happen a litter earlier, so Alderpaw and Needlepaw are a little bit older. During the quest, both Alderpaw and Needlepaw are taken by a Twoleg and are driven away from the quest group. Alder and Needle eventually escape, but are so far from Clan territory that they have no idea where they are. Thankfully, by StarClan’s wish, they do manage to find the now wandering SkyClan. (This is about right before the events of Pebbleshine’s Kits)
When Alder and Needle introduce themselves, Echosong realizes that, Alderpaw being Firestar’s grandson, might be the “Spark that Remains” prophecy.
Leafstar and others (mainly Hawkwing), are suspicious after everything with Darktail, and while they agree to let Alder and needle travel with them, they will not be part of SkyClan until they either stay with the group for a moon or prove their loyalty. Alderpaw thinks that is reasonable while Needlepaw thinks it is excessive.
Alderpaw and Needlepaw are able to guide SkyClan in the general direction they came from, but since they came to the area via kid/catnapping they do not know they specific way. One pointer is that they are able to prevent Pebbleshine from being taken, which earns them Hawkwing’s support.
When Plumwillow goes into labor by the lake, Alderpaw is there to help and Plumwillow is grateful to the apprentice for his help. Alderpaw is also there to assist in Pebbleshine’s birth of Twigkit and Violetkit. And when the dogs burst into the camp, Needlepaw helps fight them off.
By the time Curlypaw and Parselyseed leave to become kittypets, both Alderpaw and Needlepaw have proven that they can be loyal SkyClan warriors.
Leafstar makes both cats the offer to join the SkyClan as full members. Needlepaw says yes immediately, having already been disillusioned to ShadowClan and feeling more connected to SkyClan. Alderpaw has to think about it a bit more, admitting that while he loves SkyClan and already feels massive amounts of loyalty to the cats, he still loves and misses his kin back in ThunderClan.
He later has a dream that night where he is visited by Firestar and Sandstorm. Firestar tells his grandson that even though he left his kittypet life behind, that does not mean he forgot or stopped loving his kin who were still kittypets and he applies that logic to Alderpaw’s dilemma. This gives Alderpaw the resolve to tell Leafstar that he will also be joining SkyClan.
With Curlypaw having left, Needlepaw become Hawkwing’s new apprentice and the two get along like a dry bush on fire. Alderpaw starts training under Echosong, but the SkyClan Medicine Cat is already training Fidgetpaw and she also leaves soon after to follow her vision.
Alderpaw allows Fidgetpaw to continue to be SkyClan’s main Medicine Cat Apprentice since the SkyClan cats are more used to him. Alderpaw, meanwhile, tends to spend his days helping Plumwillow and Pebbleshine with their kits: playing with them, helping keep the nursery clean, keeping an eye on the health of the kits and their mothers. He also ends up filling the role of a father to Reedkit, Finkit and Dewkit since Hawkwing is with his own daughters and Sandynose is still missing.
This continues until the other cats are captured (including Fidgetpaw and Waspwhisker). Now Alderpaw is left as SkyClan’s Medicine Cat and Hawkwing is made deputy. This is also when Leafstar decides that Needlepaw is more than ready for her warrior name.
Leafstar decides to name her Needlestorm, in honor of both her strong personality and fighting skills and also in memory of Sandstorm. Needle loves her new name and both Hawkwing and Alderpaw are very proud.
Alderpaw, meanwhile, struggles with the responsibilities of being the only cat with Medicine training. He has gotten steadily more and more stressed and it shows. While this does not stop him from successfully treating the sickness and saving both Rileypool and Firefern from dying, it is clear that his nerves and the stress of it all is getting to him.
Echosong eventually returns and expresses her pride and gratitude to Alderpaw for treating her Clanmates while she was away as well as her grief at Fidgetpaw’s capture. Alderpaw is grateful that Echosong is back, but the events have made Alderpaw question if being a Medicine Cat is really the right choice for him...
Meanwhile, Sandynose is finally able to reunite with SkyClan and his family - though instead of his kits being more attached to Hawkwing, now they are more attached to Alderpaw - and cat Sandynose has never meet.
This leads to Sandynose being a bit hostile to Alderpaw, which the younger tom understanbds, but it does not help his stress levels. Needlestorm sees this has a word with both Alderpaw and Sandynose.
She tells Sandynose off for taking out his misplaced frustration out of Alderpaw, who has done nothing but love his and Plumwillow’s kits like they are his own and cared for them when Sandynose could not. She also reminds him that Alderpaw is the Medicine Cat Apprentice and it is his job to look after the well-being of the Clan’s kits, and even if he is still getting used to her and Alderpaw, that is not excuse to treat them unfairly.
Sandynose is stunned by the she-cat’s words but admits that she is is right and will put in more effort to be kinder to Alderpaw.
Later, Needlestorm talks to Alderpaw, concerned about his recent stress levels and constant nervous attitude. Alderpaw kind of ends breaking down right in front of Needlestorm and in his ramble induced panic admits that he did not even choose to be train as a Medicine Cat, Leafpool and Jayfeather received a vision about him and he was doing so poorly in warrior cat training that his father decided to push into the Medicine Cat role.
This surprises Needlestorm, but she does not say anything, just cuddles close to Alderpaw as he just, lets all his pent up emotions out. He eventually falls asleep on her shoulder and she stays there, not wanting to disturb him.
It does get her thinking though... Is there a role that might suit Alderpaw better?
And that’s all for part 1 for now. Check out part 2 for more!
