Relationship: Mia is Tom’s girlfriend. While he’s casually dated many girls throughout his life, Mia was the first one to ever stick around. If there was ever a person made to match Thomas as an equal, Mia is it. She’s strong, powerful, and full of wit. From the moment they met, she looked at him directly in the eyes, something many people had been afraid to do most his life. Mia can hold her own against anyone she seems to come across. They have a mutual respect for each other which helped allow them both to let their walls down. He’s seen her weakest side as she has for him. It’s only strengthened his love for her.
Occupation: Tom lives off his parent’s extensive money. Once his father went to jail, he was able to manipulate his mother to allow him back into the family trust funds.
Freebie: Football is one of the few things Tom finds passion in. He doesn’t care for many things and not much interests in, but football, has always been his outlet. He used to dream of getting to play in college. College quickly became something of a lost dream for him though. Studies and education never connoted with him so the idea of being miserable just to play a spot was something he decided to pass on. Besides, if you can live off your parents fortune, throwing a ball around seems rather dull.

mia--tale:
Mia smiled as Tom leaned in, paying attention to his suggestions; truth was, she was excited to do a little bit of everything, and was really looking forward to be gifted a stuffed animal that he won for her. She let his enthusiasm course into her with every single one of his words, her eyes lovingly staring at his face, and her grin groing by the second. She’d experienced wild rides, at Disney, but, for some reason, she was a lot more excited to try the shitty ones at the fair tonight, simply because Thomas was with her, and he was so excited as well. She found herself nodding along to his suggestions, until he asked what she thought and she chuckled. “Love it. Kind of like I love you,” she mumbled before leaning forward to kiss him briefly, just for the sake of it. “But if at any point you don’t feel well, I want you to tell me, okay? I’ll just be worrying otherwise. Now let’s go, let’s find that hall of mirrors.”
He smiled into the kiss but quickly made of a face of disgust. “I’m fine, I’m fine. Stop worrying.” He chuckled a little and positioned the cane under his palm to push himself towards to mirror maze. With his free hand, he reached back to grasp hold of Mia’s. “I wanted to do this one first because the idea of staring into a thousand reflections of myself is a dream come true.” Tom teased as he handed off the tickets to the teenager collecting them outside. “Ladies first,” he gestured for Mia to enter the maze and followed behind her. They were greeted with halls of what appeared to an infinite amount of neon colored mirrors and pathways. He let out a low whistle. “Imagine fucking in here.” He couldn’t help himself. Seeing Mia naked was his first thought in every situation he crossed. “If we ever move into a house together, we should get a room full of mirrors.”

mia--tale:
“Can’t say I have. The rides I went on were built and designed by my dad, so I know they were safe.” Chuckling, she glanced at her boyfriend by her side. When he laughed, she was struck with the realization that they were never supposed to get this far. Mia had always been a heartless bitch, too hurt by her past to let anyone in; Tom had been the same. All that they’d ever been supposed to be was a good fuck in a quiet library. Strange how things turned out. Engulfed by that feeling of love and affection, and just plain joy that they’d beat the odds at the game they’d created themselves, she missed the breathtaking sight of the fair as it first appeared. Even though she could see everything, it didn’t impact her as much as the love for Tom did, in that moment. His words brought a laugh out of her, and she smirked as she glanced at him again. “We always find our way, Tom. I don’t think there’s a single thing that could stop us,” she mused, turning the car to find a spot to park it.
Once the car had stopped, she leaned over to reciprocate his kiss with one of her own, taking his wallet from him when it was held out. Taking his free hand, she walked with Tom to the entrance booth, chuckling at his introduction of them, but not denying it; she could see the boy’s eyes wander, after all. She handed over the money in exchange for their tickets, sliding Tom’s wallet in his pocket before they went into the fair. Her eyes lit up as she looked around at the whirlwind of people, of lights and stands and rides, and she took a moment to let it all in before smiling at her boyfriend. “So, I’ll let you take the lead. Where should we start?”
Tom looked around. He leaned into her as he spoke. “I say we get lost in the hall of mirrors, take a ride on the ghost train, maybe stop for some healthy dinner of fried foods, then go to puke it all back up on the zipper and the tea cups, grab some more food, play some games, go through the fun house, and finish the night taking a leisure ride on the ferris wheel during the fireworks show? We can sprinkle in anything else we come across in between all that. How’s that sound?” He stopped speaking to gauge her response. It was a bit optimistic to assume his head could handle all these rides, especially the spiny ones, but he was determined to make sure that Mia had the best time tonight.

mia--tale:
“You’d never. So long as you’re with me, you’ll never show up anywhere looking scruffy.” She grinned and watched Missy dive into her treat with gusto, before she stepped outside their apartment and locked the door behind herself. Taking his arm, she smiled as they walked down to her car, kissing his cheek before releasing him so they could each slide into their seat. As she buckled up and started the car, she listened to him speak and gave out a soft chuckle. “Oh, I bet the kids were delighted to bug you, you grump,” she joked easily, sending him a soft grin.
As she began driving, with her hood down to enjoy the warm weather, she smiled and relaxed back into her seat. Nothing eased her more than taking her car out for a drive, but she hadn’t had a chance to drive it a lot, recently; she’d missed the feeling of the wheel under her hands, the leather against her back. When she felt Thomas’ hand, her heart soared; this, right here and now, was forever going to be one of her favorite feelings, she just knew. “I’ve never been to a carnival before, really. I had Disney outside my door, so I just went there instead. Used to eat a lot of cotton candy,” she chuckled as she remembered those days, where her father would allow her to drag him down to the rides he’d worked on, himself.
“Oooh, so you’ve never experienced the thrill of getting on a ride that feels like it’s held together by duct tape?” He laughed with a warm chuckle. “How exciting that I’d get to be there for your first time.” As the car breached over the top of a hill, the scene before them burst to life. The ferris wheel stood tall overlooking a field of rides, booths, and people. The fair ground music filled his ears the closer they got. It was a classic summer sight for him and he couldn’t help but feel excited. “Too bad I’m such a cripple. I would have loved to find all the secret places we could sneak off to, to fool around. Although I’m sure we could get creative should the desire really hit.” He leaned over to kiss her cheek. Ideally, he would have been in much better health to plan out a special night like this, but there was no way he could have waited any longer. Not for this.
Once they pulled up and found a spot to park, Tom fished his wallet out of his back pocket and handed it over to Mia. It would be easier for her to grab the entrance fee money rather than waiting for him to fumble around one handily. He smiled at the person behind the booth. “Hey, two tickets for myself and the sexiest woman you’ve ever laid your bloodshot, little eyes on, please.”

mia--tale:
“That sounds a little too much like a horror movie waiting to happen. I’m kinda excited.” Mia chuckled as she thought of seeing the apartment full to the brim with those stuffed animals, imagining the contrast they’d make against the rest of the things in it. When Thomas held her, she sighed happily, grinning at his words. “Aren’t we always, Tom? I thought that was our trademark,” she replied in tandem, humming softly against his lips at his words. “Well, I’ll hold you to that promise, then.” She pulled back slowly from him, watching him with a gentle smile on her lips before giving a curt nod. “Obviously. I’m not driving one of yours, my poor baby would disown me,” she grumbled lightly, grabbing the keys to her Comet from the table, along with her purse, before she followed on his footsteps to the door.
“At least I’m dating someone with a good taste in cars. I can’t be showing up places looking too scruffy.” Tom tossed Missy a dog treat to keep her busy before he stepped outside. He waited for Mia to lock the door then offered her his arm as they walked to her car. “When I was in high school I used to have to work at these fairs for the football team. I’d have to sit in the sun and run shitty games all day. I was forced to speak to children. It was my absolute hell.” A lazy smile crossed his face at the thought.
It was early evening. A slight breeze blew through the air. The clouds in the sky were beginning to turn a soft, warm yellow as the sun was getting ready to set. He could almost smell cotton candy in the air as they drove with the top down. His gaze shifted from the road over to Mia. She was perfect. So strong, so damn beautiful, so real. His hand reached out to brush some hair from her face then settled against her neck where he left it for the remaining of the ride. “What’s your favorite carnival food? I’m personally a fan of the classic fried dough with a bunch of powered sugar dumped on top.”

mia--tale:
Mia was slightly nervous, she could admit. Ever since Tom had suffered his head injury, things had been
challenging. Of course, being a doctor in training, she was more than well acquainted with the consequences of a head injury; she knew it could cause memory loss, change in behavior. In Tom, it seemed to have caused memory loss for easy and simple tasks, and a bit of a slowness in his body fully recovering from his injury. She could dealn with that, Mia was more than willing to do so, but, as the first time the two were going out after all that, she was scared.
Tom and her were headed to the fair, and she feared the loud sounds and bright lights would bother her boyfriend. Still, she couldn’t bhave denied him if she wanted to; he’d asked her so kindly, and he’d had the biggest grin when she’d agreed that they were fine to go
She guessed their last date really had been over a year back, she was excited too. Dressing up nicely in a dress that fell down mid-thigh and hugged her body figure, she smiled as Tom left the bathroom, looking him over. “You definetely do, baby,” she agreed, her eyes twinkling and her heart swelling as she thought about what a nice pair the two of them made. “Oh, every single one, huh? Let’s go, I want all the prizes,” she walked over to him, her heels clicking with the floor until she reached him to kiss his lips briefly.
“I’ll fill this apartment with cheap, ugly colored stuffed animals. You just wait.” He leaned his cane against the wall so he could properly wrap his arm around her waist, feeling every curve of her body until finally resting a hand against her bottom. “And you look stunning, as always. I think we’ll be the hottest couple there.” He kissed her again, letting his lips linger, while he whispered softly. “This will be a night we’ll both remember. I promise you.” Thomas smiled coyly. He took a step back and grabbed his cane again. “Are we taking your car?” The answer was rather obvious. He wasn’t able to drive yet. Still, he asked anyway as they made their way towards the door.

@mia--tale
It took about a solid hour for him to get dressed. Attempting to put on a nice button up shirt with a bulky cast stuck in a sling against your chest was not an easy task. Then came the tie which was a whole different struggle to deal with. He had to youtube a tutorial on how to properly tie one. It used to come as a second nature to him but with the head injury, once simple tasks now seemed daunting. Eight attempts later and he finally managed to get it done with a single hand. Next came the leather jacket. It had a nice zippered pocket against the chest. It was where he had been hiding it the past few weeks. The thought made his stomach fill up with butterflies. He could feel the outline of the small box pressed against his chest.
Not wanting Mia to think he drowned in the toilet, he grabbed his mahogany cane and hoisted himself off the side of the bath where he had been resting while he got ready. The cane helped him keep his balance. Sometimes when he stood for too long, he’d get dizzy or feel faint. This was their first real outing together since he got home from the hospital. The Greensville fair had rolled into town. What a perfect place to get out and spend time with the woman he loved. Tom opened the bathroom door and walked out into the bedroom to find Mia. “Hey, I survived first time getting dressed in something other than an oversize t-shirt. I clean up nicely, I must say.” He smiled when he spotted her and planted a kiss on her lips. “Are you ready? I brought a huge pile of cash to win you every prize there.”

It's an engagement ring. I'm going to ask her to marry me. [locks eyes with him] ...Do you think that's a good idea? The doctor said some things might b-be...different in my head. That I might have...changes...I was so afraid b-before. Afraid of commitment. Afraid of her. Afraid me. But I'm not anymore. I'm afraid of not b-being enough while I'm here. While I'm alive. I don't want her to ever doubt me. I want Mia to know exactly how I feel. That I'm in this forever. As long as she'll have me. I'm all in. ...Am I fucking crazy?
warren-thomas:
Broken arm and a little brain damage. Nothing to worry ab-. [His attention faded to the window looking outside as his sentence trailed off. It looked like a nice day out. He yawned. His eyes closed when Brandon touched his hair and it brought his attention back to his friend.] Hey, I need a favor. [Tom opened his eyes to sleepily look at him.] I need you to take my credit card and go pick out a ring. A pretty one. An expensive one. Something unique and delicate and worthy of Mia. And I need you to buy that ring and bring it b-back to me. You have good taste. I trust that you’d pick something nice.
Nothing for you to worry about. You get Mia the hot nurse to come give you sponge baths and I’m going to be freaking out until you’re okay enough for me to hit you with my bag for saying that. [He frowned in concern when Tom’s attention was easily puled away and when Brandon looked out the window, he didn’t see anything moving that could have even grabbed his attention. When Tom spoke to him again, he nodded before he was even told what his friend wanted.] I do have good taste, at least you still have some sense. [brushes his hair away from his forehead to kiss it lightly] I will, I will and it will be perfect. Is it a birthday present? Anniversary? Just a ‘Hey, I love you.’ present?

Don’t worry, baby. Soon enough you’ll do everything again, and I’ll give you a lot of things to remember me by, and to love me for. [She leans over to kiss him gently.] Just gotta hang on, Tom.
You’ve already given me everything to remember you and love you for. More than you know. [gives a tired sigh] I feel like I’ve got a...new...perspective on things. [turns to look at her] I know what I want now.

You know what’s not a cute look on me? Worry lines. [He let his attention be taken by the blank expression and turned to see what had caused it. A frown appeared on his features when couldn’t see and turned his attention back to Thomas.] So just a broken arm, huh? I’m gonna take a guess that all of this then is just to see how many hot nurses will give you a sponge bath. [Brandon thought back to when he was in hospital. How Thomas, despite pretending to be grumpy about it, climbed on the bed and held him whilst they talked. He would have done the same were it not for his complete lack of knowledge regarding the extent of his friends injuries. Instead, he settled for moving the table out of the way so he could sit closer and comb his fingers through Tom’s hair, something he hoped was a soothing gesture.] Usually that’s a sign that you should sleep.

...I wasn't there at your lowest. What does that make me?
warren-thomas:
Do you remember Brock? From high school? He was one of my best friends back then. Uhm, him and a few other guys from the football team were back in town. They hit me up to play with them. I got hit wrong. I think my head hit a rock. I don’t really remember much. I guess it really fucked up my brain though. I don’t know exactly what that means though. But I know that I have trouble speaking certain sounds and I can’t remember where the stupid lion on the memory card game is when I literally just saw it a second before. My eye sight is messed up. I can’t taste food. My left arm was pretty much snapped in half. And none of those assholes have even checked in to see how I’m doing after everything.
That fuckhead? [her bottom lip wobbles a little as he describes his injuries, but she sucks it up, trying to be strong for him and so she takes a big breath and says firmly] Fuck those guys. They don’t matter anymore. Anybody who isn’t there when you’re at your lowest isn’t somebody worth having in your life.

I love your lips on my skin more. Even if I can hardly feel it due to the amount of numbing drugs they have coursing through my veins. At least your still beautiful to look at. As long as my eyes still work, I think I'll be fine.

[He made a face of displeasure when she refereed to him as Warren.] That’s news to me. I swear I could fly before this happened.

[His eyes teared up, he couldn’t remember the last time he had actually cried in his adult life, but there were a lot of painkiller coursing through his veins and so much uncertainty and stress that it just sort of started to happen.] Brain got jumbled, I guess
[He reached to a bedside table that had a little white board with a few words written it. It read “Traumatic Brain Injury, Depressed fracture causing Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak”. He had asked a nurse to write it down for him because he was having trouble remembering exactly what they labeled him with and it was something he didn’t want to keep asking about.]
[after giving him a concerned look, she takes the whiteboard and looks at the words a few times, looking confused]..w-what does it mean? What happened? Why is your brain jumbled?
