summer love. park jihoon
genre: angst summary: jihoon's summer love isn't just a summer thing Another week started and everything seemed pretty normal for you. School had started a month ago and so far your life went the same way it had always gone, besides everyone still talked about what they did this summer. And for some reason, all your friends were interested in what you did. "I doubt you stayed all summer at home, didn't you go with your parents at least?" your friends insisted, still not buying your words. "We went to the beach and then we went to my grandma's, what i always do, you know i keep it simple" you shrugged, placing your notes on the desk. "Thought you would go crazy, i mean, it was our last summer as high schoolers you know" "You guys know i'm not like that" you assured them, as the other three girls sighed rather loudly. You were the first place in every class, your studies always came first and your friends knew. You were the kind of good girl, always in time, good grades and good manners. Your friends, in the other hans, were the total opposite of you, that was why you guys sticked together for five years. You felt a lump in your throat every time your friends brought the summer topic. And as hard as you tried to shrug it off, they knew you too well, and they knew there wasn't something they didn't know, and you wouldn't say. Truth to be told, this summer for your was pretty different and the closest to the crazy high school summer experience you'd ever be. It wasn't your intention, it just happened. But you were trying hard to erase those memories from your head. Half way into the class, as you write your notes hurriedly, not missing any of the teacher's words, your phone vibrates on the desk, heart pounding, you instantly take it, hiding it behind your friend's back to check who was sending you messages at this time. It was an unknown number, telling you to go to the cafeteria. Furrowing your eyebrows, you read the number once again, as the digits seemed familiar. You raised your hand hurriedly, and with fast steps, you left the classroom, running to the cafeteria. You meet his face again, the face you had managed to evade since the start of this school's year. You wanted to break your record, seems like you'd have to start again after this sudden meeting. The brown haired guy is leaning against one of the tables, arms crossed over his chest as he eyes you standing on the entrance of the cafeteria. He would be lying if he said he wasn't excited to see you, you always seemed to be running away from his presence, in a month he had caught your eyes just twice, counting this exact moment. You looked different, obviously in your right mind and collected like you always were inside school. Your hair falling perfectly falling over your shoulder and back, your lips as pink as your cheeks and your eyes shining. He smiled to himself for a second. "This better be serious i'm missing my notes for the upcoming exams" you try to show indifference, but he could read you so easily, your cheeks unintentionally turning pink. "Can you shut up and take a look at this?" Walking towards him, you turn your eyes to wherever his eyes were staring at, making you gasp loudly. Pinned up in the wall, a big picture of you and Jihoon you thought would never be caught on camera. The truth is, this summer was pretty different for you. Your parents thought going to the beach at night was a great idea, and you thought the same, but you'd never thought they would get invited to some friends' house, and that those friends were none other than Jihoon's family. Your relationship with Jihoon was nothing more than some rather harsh words thrown against each other. He was always loud with his friends specially around you, specially in times were you'd be studying. You didn't like him at all, and you thought he felt the same way. But Jihoon thought you were pretty cute, in your own way. And after being forced to sit next to each other at dinner, and being forced to take care of your sister with Jihoon, you guys ended up sitting on the couch of his house chatting a little. And with you admitting some things you still wished he wouldn't remember. You still didn't know why he had leaned closer to you, staring right in your eyes and making you all flustered, enough to make you fall for that kiss. You still couldn't understand how that picture managed to get into someone's possesion, you sleeping with your face half covered with Jihoon's hoodie, resting your head on his chest, and his hand in your hair. "How is this possible?" you questioned him, feeling uneasy. You tried to reach the ends of the big poster, trying to tear it down. "What are you doing?" Jihoon walked to your side, acting as calm as if this wouldn't damage their reputations. "I'm trying to take this down before anyone sees it!" "I don't know if you noticed, but there are fifty other posters all over the school" "What?" you exclaimed, taking a look around. You felt heavy, falling onto the floor with your hands covering your face. Jihoon was mad about this too, he had promised you it would go with him to his grave, but he couldn't understand why you were so upset about it. And it hurt his feelings. He pulled you up softly, trying to catch your attention. "What are you upset about? You regret it?" he frowned, making you feel even worse. "I don't know" you lied, but it was enough for Jihoon to get upset. You didn't regret it at all, you wouldn't have kissed him again that night if you did regret it, but you couldn't stand the thought of your friends asking why you kissed the school's sweetheart. Jihoon was popular for enchanting girls, he had a perfect smile, manly but sweet, he was every girls' perfect man. Everyone had a crush on him at least once. He's the guy everyone is friends with, the guy everyone wants to hang out with. You were total opposites. You enjoyed being that person you would see once in a while, the person no one talked about. "You know what, let's just ignore this, i'll say it was mistake and you can say you regret it, okay?" "It's not like that, you know it's not like that" you try to explain, but it was too late. After spending a month with him, you knew every expression of his, you knew he wasn't just upset, he was mad at you. "Well that's how you make it look like, i guess your good girl title is more important than anything else" Jihoon picked his backpack, getting ready to leave. "Anything else? Was there anything else? We were just a summer thing, you agreed with keeping this a secret, why are you getting upset now? It's not like everyone will look at you weird, actually it's no surprise for everyone you managed to make another girl fall for you so what's your point?" The bell rang and you left as soon as you could, leaving him lost as everyone gasped at the sight. "Isn't that the quiet girl with good grades?" "No wonder, she's just another dumb girl if she actually thought he would change for her" Jihoon rushed out of the cafeteria, making all the students stare at each other. A week passed by and your fever got worse. You were really trying to ignore the murmuring around the halls and in classes, you weren't used to the attention. And Jihoon's cold eyes following you around made it harder to concentrate. The rumors went by fast, as if they were making sure you could hear it all as you walked past them. Jihoon saying it was a mistake, and that he regretted it, others saying Jihoon had mentioned how bad of a kisser you were. Your friends kept messaging you, but they knew you well enough and they knew you needed time to yourself. Hiding in your house wouldn't change a thing, but at least you felt relieved inside your own space. Jihoon's voice still echoing inside your head. "y/n's friends are cuter you know" Jihoon's friends tried to tease him, about it, but Jihoon was feeling down too. After three days he hadn't seen you even once, he knew you were probably staying home and missing classes you would later fail because of everything you were going through. "If i liked her or not after all i kissed her not you, am i right?" Jihoon snapped, making his friends smile a little. "So you're admitting you like her?" "Yeah, i like her a lot, you think i wouldn't be like this if i didn't care about her at all? All this is driving me insane i swear i'd fought at least three guys because of her" "And if you like her, what are you waiting for, Jihoon?" Jihoon managed to find the courage and right words to knock at your doorstep, he was asking for forgiveness and admit his feelings. "Jihoon! What a surprise to see you here" your mother greeted him sweetly, inviting him inside. She signaled him the way to y/n's door, telling Jihoon about how you were feeling down and really sick. He knocked on the door of your bedroom, forgetting every word he had planned. His palms turned sweaty and cheeks heating up. You open the door, thinking it would be your friends, freezing in your steps as you see Jihoon standing in front of you. "I know you probably don't want to see me, but i really want to apologize, for everything" he started, stumbling over his own words, staring at your eyes and to your lips. "I shouldn't have kissed you that night, i didn't think of all the trouble it would bring you" "I don't" you murmur, avoiding his gaze. "What?" "I don't regret the kiss, Jihoon, i would never regret kissing you, i was just scared of everything and the big fuss this would cause, i was thinking of myself only" "y/n-" "I'm sorry-" "Can you kiss me again? Just once and then i'll leave if you want me to" He doesn't wait for your answer, and leans in for a kiss he's been wishing for since the last time he got to kiss you. He missed your lips, and the way your hands would wrap around his neck perfectly, he liked you. He wouldn't let his summer love slip out of his fingers. "y/n?" "Yes?" "Can we try again?"
