These are the background images I'm experimenting with, as the girl is influenced by the cats, she's gradually starting to blend in, so I'm trying to get rich in colour. The sunrise will also have an effect on the colours as the time is at sunrise. I'm still working on the use of colour. But this vibrant colour is what I wanted to add to the picture. In China there is a saying that spring is the season of renewal and it has many colours, so the renewal of emotions can be expressed in many colours. As the images shown in the first part of the work have been monotonously written grey, bright and colourful colours can brighten up the viewer's day. I will continue to try to perfect the colour scheme.

In this scene the girl is awakened by the name of the car and returns from the dream world to reality, after seeing a psychiatrist she still has suicidal thoughts, so I wanted to show the dying of consciousness by her walking towards the darkness.
The girl is standing on the upper floor looking down at the scene where he is about to commit suicide.
The girl is woken up by the cat, this is a turning point in her fate, as the girl has an emotional attachment to the cat, she chooses to continue to maintain her life, I want to gradually add colour to this place, through this technique to reflect the girl's inner influence by the cat is gradually revived!

This is the scene where the main character wakes up in the hospital, this scene has been changed from the previous one, I have brightened up the dark environment, I hope to give the audience the feeling of reality and dream world being cut off and the hospital is the place that brings life to people, I want to use bright colours to reflect this.

I was thinking about colouring the character in this picture because it is the point where his reality meets his dream world and I wanted to show that she is entering her fantasy by making her blend into the environment.
Alternatively, the gradual melting of the colours gives people an intuitive feeling of entering the dream world. Due to the limitation of animation time, there is not much time to prepare for entering the dream world, and the fading colours can also reflect the change of the character's inner emotion from the side. Fading into darkness is a common way to express negative emotions.

I want to focus on the main character's psychological state of disinterest and indifference to the things around him through the blurred background, because the main character is a patient with depression and mental illness, so his feelings towards the things around him are unclear, this unclear feeling is reflected through the blurred colours, I think this is a good way to reflect the cold.

In the background, there is an obvious light from the street lamp, I want to put the main character in a position where the light and the darkness meet, so that the contrast between light and darkness can reflect the main character's loneliness. I think the contrast between light and dark is a good way to show the character's emotions. The strong contrast between light and dark can make the person in the dark place give people an intuitive feeling of negative emotions.

This is the exterior of the company building where the main character works, with grey tones and bright colours to reflect the complexity of the environment.
In my opinion, the most intuitive way to reflect the emotions of the protagonist is through the images, and the sense of loneliness is more likely to be reflected in the empty scenes. This sense of loneliness is intuitively felt, and the same feeling can be brought to the audience when the protagonist is in an empty environment. An empty street without any noise can also reflect the protagonist's sense of ambiguity about his surroundings.

In this background, I want to contrast the blue-grey background with the light from the bright computer, and in the post animation I will add the expression of the main character's face and the contrast between light and dark on the main character's face to reflect the main character's hidden inner emotions.

In this background drawing, I wanted to express the inner emotions of the main character through colours. The first background is an empty office, the main character will be alone in the office, I want to show the feeling of loneliness through this scene. I wanted to highlight the loneliness through the contrast between light and dark on the main character's face.
I have drawn the boundaries of the objects in the scene rather blurred, I want to reflect the protagonist's lack of ability to perceive her surroundings through texture. In my background research on depressed people, a reduced ability to perceive things around them is a very obvious symptom, so I chose to use this way to present it through the picture.

In the process of researching the art style of Spot in the Spider-Man Across the Universe, a lot of fantasy tension style expressed through bright colours was found. The content expressed in this style is very exciting and has a very strong artistic as well as visual effect. I thought that by studying these two styles, I might be able to combine the two styles together to express the dreams of the protagonist in my work
There's a newly released female character in the game Wipeout Star Dome Railway, and her PV was well received by players when it came out. In this PV, there are a lot of homage to classic images. One part of the painting style is very amazing, this painting style borrowed from the Japanese anime magical girl Xiao Yuan painting style, this style is bold, and the colour is very bright, with a kind of fantasy tension effect.

After the analysis of the video, it is found that the painting style used by Spot is the expressionist style of Munch, using contrasting lines of colour blocks of concise and general exaggerated shapes to express his feelings and emotions. This kind of work brush strokes of colour are very bold cut rich, give a sense of sensory stimulation obvious, this style gives people nervous, uneasy, sad emotions. This style of painting brings melancholy and panic into the picture and can depict a rich spiritual world. It can be used to express death melancholy and loneliness. Feelings of loneliness and anxiety can also be felt by observing the paintings.

I took a closer look at the art style of Spider-Man Across the Universe and I found that there are many different art styles that have been incorporated into the animation. Firstly, there is Punk Spider-Man who uses a very flamboyant style of drawing with a strong sense of ripping and randomness, which reflects the character's desire to fight against unfair rules. Another style that appears frequently in the film is pop art, which can give a strong visual impact, giving people a visual experience of distortion and destruction. A sometimes uncertain effect like a wrong code. One of the styles I wanted to draw on the most was when the villain Spot appeared, his drawing style has a very strong sense of darkness, he has elements of the sense of ink, hand-drawn elements, and strong lines, all these different elements blended together to give a strong sense of chaotic eeriness, which is similar to the dream world I wanted to express.

I continued to refine the storyboard. I cut some unnecessary shots from the previous story version, such as the sudden jump from the end position to the start position during camera movement, and cut some of the more shots that conveyed almost the same meaning and took less time to convey the content, and the more shots resulted in a weaker emotional impact of the shots, so I cut some of them.
I've had some other new suggestions and ideas for the dreamscape, and since I've been using messy lines in my previous dreamscapes, with tentacle-like black shadows present, and the two don't mix well, I've decided to take a page out of the drawing style used in the animated Spider-Man film to express the cacophony and disorder of the dreamscape. It's a worthwhile endeavour, I've never drawn in this style before, so attempting to draw in this style may take a while of practice lines. So for the time being, I'm still using messy lines to express the content of the dream, and I'll try replacing the messy lines with a new style when I'm fully practised and confident.

I drew a new character design due to the fact that the previous character's curly hair and elaborate trench coat didn't reflect the girl's depressed psyche during the drawing of the storyboard. So I needed a brunette girl in casual clothes, and since orange is a very bright colour, usually this colour doesn't appear on depressed people with mental illnesses. And the main character is introverted, so orange hair doesn't fit the main character's personality traits. After that I replaced the high heels with trainers to give the girl's daily routine a natural and easy-going look.
In terms of colour I still chose blue, this time with low brightness and purity, a colour that might be more suitable for unassuming depressives. And the low-purity blue colour also gives people a feeling that it is difficult to get close to.

I looked for some large office scene reference material due to the previous story to put the content can not visually reflect the protagonist in overtime, so add the office scene as a background, but also can be used in a large office with only one computer lit to reflect the girl's sense of loneliness.

This is the first part of the storyboard I drew. Firstly, it explains what the girl has done, and then it explains the location of the girl. After leaving the previous position, the main character has been walking, according to the different angles of the main character walking posture expression of her heart qing gan. in the process of her walking there is a shot upward, the picture is fixed in the girl's head, neck and shoulder part.

This is still a blog for the study of split-screen, I've been lacking in split-screen and other issues, so I searched for some instructional videos and analysis videos on the Internet, and learnt from them to complete the creation of the storyboard. Since my animation is mainly about depressing emotions, I need to highlight the loneliness of the protagonist in my shot composition. I wanted to show this loneliness by having him walk alone, and by having him look up or down from a large angle to show the depressing emotion. On the other hand, I wanted to show the psychological state of the protagonist through close-ups of his expressions and movements.
This instructional video helps me to create shots with more tension. So I can also borrow this type of shot interlacing and shot compression to reflect the tension in my videos.
What is being talked about in this video can go a long way in improving my problem of having a very mediocre lens. In the blogger's video, it is mentioned that the main character's demeanour can be observed through the perspective of a friend to reflect his thoughts and opinions on a certain thing or event. This way can greatly enrich the easy expression in the animation, and can also better express the main character's emotion. I will try to learn how to incorporate these methods in my story to make my subplot richer.
