Our Top 5 Destinations of 2016 Countdown 1. Slovenia The top of our list for 2016 is a country that really exceeded all of our expectations. We loved Ljubljana for its beautiful architecture and lively atmosphere despite the cold. Lake Bled was also a favourite for its natural beauty. Slovenia you are truly the best! || (at Lake Bled)

Our Top 5 Destinations of 2016 Countdown 2. Croatia For once, it wasn't the bright lights of the city that called to us. It was the sparkling icicles hanging from trees, the clear, bright blue lakes, and the loud, rushing waterfalls of Croatia's most beautiful treasure, The Plitvice Lakes National Park that captured us instantly. Our Top 5 Destinations of 2016 Countdown 3. Portugal Love at first sight. That's what you will feel when you explore Portugal. It sounds cliche but every single city we visited in Portugal had us head over heels. Our two favourites were Lisbon, for its vibrancy and diversity (and deliciously addictive Portuguese tarts) and the breathtaking beaches of The Algarve (pictured here). Our Top 5 Destinations of 2016 Countdown 5. Macedonia This year we spent a lot of time in The Balkans and fell in love with Macedonia. Our favourite spot to visit was the UNESCO protected Ohrid Lake which is the perfect destination to experience all the natural beauty and culture of this amazing country in one place! || (at Ohrid)
