Hi, I need advice. I'm on a screenwriting course. I want to write novels. My lecturer thinks its a waste of time. "You should be entering as many script contests as possible!" I like screenwriting, but I don't want to only focus on it. Screenwriting alone is too limiting. I can't switch courses at this point. Dropping out isn't convenient. Do I listen to my lecturer and only write scripts? Thanks!
If you’re on a screenwriting course, learn the things you can get from a screenwriting course. Learn about coming in to a scene late and leaving early. Learn about making every line of dialogue something that also reveals character. Learn about structure and planning and shape. Learn about what happens if you write a scene and then move it earlier or later or delete it altogether. Learn about rewriting.
Because there’s nothing you’ll learn from a screenwriting course that won’t be useful when you write novels or short stories. It’s all making stories with words, in different ways.

y’all… u dont understand how much writing in the tags of someone’s creation means to them.. whether it’s fanart, a graphic, fanfic..,, there’s a 99% chance that person looks through their tags and a single opinionated comment in the tags can rlly brighten their day it’s just a rlly wonderful thing to see

that post getting angry at ppl for not wanting their art tagged as “#kin” is so annoying. just b/c someone isn’t kin doesn’t mean their art can’t be very personal to them and that they can’t set HARMLESS boundaries like “please do not tag my art this certain way b/c it makes me uncomfortable.” you don’t know the artist, you don’t know if they feel connected to some characters but personally choose not to call themselves “kin”, you don’t know if it was meant to be vent art, etc. there are lots of reasons why someone wouldn’t want ppl tagging “#me” on their artwork and it doesn’t automatically make them ableist. just respect the artist and stop taking it as a personal attack

Attention all digital artists!
Krita, an actual FREE digital art program, recently released an Alpha 3.0 version that features tools for creating “hand-drawn animations”.
If you’re looking for an art program with more advanced tools than Paint Tool Sai but don’t want to cough up the cash, then Krita is your program. (However donations to support the people making the program are very much appreciated!)
I understand that when you first download it, the layout and tools can be a little intimidating, but don’t worry. The program comes with a manual and there are tutorials on Youtube that can help you understand the basics.
Even if you don’t want to download this program or donate, please reblog to help spread the word and tag people you think might enjoy this.

Pushing your poses to an undeniable level of clarity will improve the clarity of the storytelling in general. Don’t leave space for uncertainty in posing out your characters. Your audience will be more engaged and entertained by the sequence. This is the last post for the Super Week. I hope you enjoyed it. Back on the regular schedule next week (Every Tuesday). Norm

I want you to look at your latest piece of art. okay? got it up?
Now think back a few years. If you were to see that piece of art back then how would you have reacted?
Now think back many years, as many as you want. How would you have reacted then?
you are the artist you wanted to be, right now.
Stop hating on yourself, and have fun.
