" You can't love someone else until you learn to love yourself first " I'm sure you've all heard this saying, either like this or
in other forms such as "Find Yourself" Whichever way you've heard it, it's still the most, well, annoying cliché ever. My mum would say it in ways like "find hobbies" or "find things you enjoy doing" and I used to think she was just annoying me. It's taken me a very big heartbreak, the move back home and 3 - 4 months without a job to finally understand what loving myself begins to look like.
I used to think " I'll love myself once my stomach is flatter, once I sweat less, once this and once that " and don't get me wrong, I still dislike these things and really wish they would change but I don't hate them anymore. I didn't even realise the change, after 2 weeks of being jobless I started getting into a routine. I read an awesome blog post about how to be and the benefits of being a morning person and decided from then on I would be. I started going for walking the dog every morning between 8-9 (which is now 7:30 - 8) and have now started running (a lifelong dream) I see a counsellor fortnightly, I started this blog and dedicated time to my instagram and pinterest, building a standard, a reputation for myself for a business that one day I hope to own. I create things (currently have 3 or 4 on the go, tutorials to come soon!) and I'm looking into taking yoga classes!
I never thought I could be truly happy on my own, I never thought I could be even just okay on my own, but I've come to realise that I don't need anybody else to make me happy, and even though part of me will always want someone else in my life, I will really be okay if that doesn't happen for me. Don't get me wrong, I still have those bad days when I think nothing will get better (thanks depression) but the difference now is I fight back when I get those thoughts. I still break down and cry but I fight back when I'm done.
And that my friends, is how I started on the road to loving myself.

DIY Marble Coasters
Hi all ! I know is been a while since I posted a DIY but today is the day and it is a goodie!
I found this marble hexagon coaster DIY on my pinterest feed and fell in love instantly (now is the time to admit I am obsessed with marble)
The link for this DIY is at the bottom of this post, it’s super easy (although requires some upper arm strength to warm the modelling clay enough to be able to manipulate) and Amy has so may others that I am just itching to try out after I finish my obsession with these coasters (I'm probably gonna make at least a dozen!)
My first attempt at this DIY I changed the colours from black and white to white and grey but its so great that you could change the shape, size and colour to match your space! I made 2 coasters by splitting one packet of white modelling clay (Du-kit: 50g or 1.76oz) and using ¼ of the grey packet (FIMO Soft: 57g or 2oz) Doing it this way I found my coasters were quite thin so when I redo this DIY I will use one whole packet of clay (about 50g) so that they are thicker.
A couple of tips I picked up when working with modelling clay is to use a plastic rolling pin or an empty beer bottle, some wood rolling pins leave tiny wood splinters in the clay and kind of ruins the effect (if this happens just use the other side as the side you show) For shaping my coaster I printed off a template of a hexagon so the possibilities are endless! My last tip is to smooth out any imperfections by using a tiny bit of water B E F O R E you cook the clay.
I cant wait to keep creating and transforming these coasters. Go check it out and get creating !! http://www.homeyohmy.com/diy-marble-hexagon-coasters/

This quote makes me think about Friends with Benefits.
They’ve become the new dating of our generation, all the fun, none of the commitment. Its become a thing of the past to wait for the 3rd date to sleep with someone, a lot of us (including me) don’t even wait to have a date before jumping in to bed with someone ( i’m not convinced that sleeping with someone and then dating them will end in heartbreak). I, myself have had a few friends with benefits over the years and i’ve come to realize one simple fact that i find most males (in my case) tend to forget when it comes to these “relationships”. FRIENDS with benefits.
Now you could say i’m reading too much into this, or you could totally agree with me. You are entitled to your own opinion. But as far as i’m concerned the reason FWB’s never seem to work out is because no matter the fact that your not committed to each other, you should still to treat the other as a friend. Sometimes that means letting him or her sleep over, it means asking them how their day was instead of just asking “you up?” at 2AM. It means treating them with respect instead of your personal on call sex machine. I’m not saying become best friends but holey hell, just be nice !
If your looking for a wham, bamn thank you ma’am then get out before you’ve even got you knickers on then i suggest you have a one night stand (of course you can do what you want obviously) But if you decide to have regular sex with the same person, be honest with yourself and realize there will be emotions because sex is an intimate and personal act, no matter how drunk, rough, kinky or sweet the sex is, it is personal act and both parties deserve respect, and in my mind, respect comes by treating them as you would a friend.
If you have a FWB, let me ask you this. Would you treat your best friend or just any friend (of opposite or same gender, whatever tickles your fancy) like you treat your FWB?

Diy glitter phone case
Hey y’all, hope your having a fabulous Monday
(or whichever day it is in your country), and if your not, i know just the thing to make it better. Glitter ! That’s right, i’m going to give you a DIY tutorial on Glitter phone case’s (like the ones pictured above)
First things first, you will need :
Clear Phone Case (I got mine from eBay for like $1 each)
PVA Glue (School Grade)
G L I T T E R ! (I used superfine)
Clear Enamel Spray Paint (This is the one i used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/250g-Australian-Export-Aerosol-Paint-Clear-Interior-Exterior-Paint-/191420085962)
An Old Paintbrush
Then after that its really pretty simple, i would complete this process over an old piece of newspaper, just to reduce some of the mess, but if you love mess then to hell with it, don’t even worry about the newspaper !
Use the old paintbrush to spread PVA onto the back of the clear phone case.
Then take your G L I T T E R and sprinkle it over the back of the phone case. (I did this in side to side motions and made sure it covered the back of the phone case completely).
Leave it for a second while the glitter takes to the glue then tip the excess glitter off and leave to dry completely (few hours).
Now take your clear spray paint and follow the instructions on the can (this basically just creates a barrier so that the glitter doesn’t rub off easily).
Leave that to dry and repeat if necessary but if not you’re all done !
If your in the bottom half of the North Island in New Zealand, Pete’s Emporium in Porirua (or Lower Hutt) has an amazing selection of glitter (basically any colour you can imagine). I hope this adds a little sparkle to your Monday afternoon. Be sure to show me your results if you can !

Introducing me !
Hello and welcome to my blog !
I'm a first timer at this blog thing, although its something I've been interested in for a wee while ! First of all, "me" is Nicola Jayne, I'm nineteen, a vegetarian, brown haired, hazel eyed girl. But don't even start thinking i'm a plain Jayne, i have a laugh you can hear for miles (helpful in crowed situations) and have gained the nickname "walking jukebox" from my friends for my ability to start singing a song that relates to a sentence they've said or a situation we're in.
Right now i'm jobless, due to some personal reasons, so I thought hey! Now's the perfect time to start a blog ! I'm hoping it'll keep me motivated to keep getting up early, to keep thinking of new things to create and to push myself out side my comfort zone top experience the weird and wonderful world that's out there !
I've always been a creative person, i was a painter in high school and i studied creative technologies at weltec in the big city over the summer of 2014/2015 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though that was the case, i decided against studying the bachelor due to some changes they had made to the course (and my particular focus/goals at the time). In some ways i regret that choice, but i believe we make decisions for a reason and if i had chosen to study further, i wouldn't have learnt the lessons i did between now and then and to be honest, no matter how hard these lessons were, i'm glad i've learnt them. I also wouldn't have met my best friend and number one supporter, Jessica. This chick is one of the strongest and most inspiring woman i've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The circumstances in which we met we're hard, and in my opinion it would have broken most woman, but not Jess. So i want to thank you, publicly because i would not be here and be me without you <3
So that's me right now, if you want to give me some advice, leave me a comment, i'd love to hear from y'all !
