Getting up on the board:
Start out with board flat on water with 2 heels resting on top of the board, a little more than shoulder width apart.
Once the rope starts to get tight, just put pressure on your heels.
Bend your knees like you are sitting down on a chair.
Bend your elbows slightly and in between your knees.
Keep arms, shoulders firm and back straight until you are standing.
Lean back a little and enjoy the ride!
Additional tips for first time wakesurfers.
Use ballast to weight one side of the boat (favor the stern): For the best possible conditions for wakesurfing, you need a solid wave.
The ideal boat speed for wakesurfing is 11-14mph.
Use a rope specifically for wakesurfing: They are bigger and safer than traditional ropes.
Attach the rope to the pylon or tower for best placement.
To slow down, apply weight to the back.
To go faster, shift weight forward on the board.
Wakesurfing is a sport. Unless you are transitioning from a similar sport, it will take a bit of time to develop skill. But it is worth the investment… of time and money. There is nothing quite like the thrill of riding a good wave!
