This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive Eight Year Old Boy Syndrome).
So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.
If you have executive dysfunction, (a symptom of ADHD, trauma, autism, schizophrenia etc.) you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.
And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.
One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.
This post is the cup I filled instead of cleaning my house btw.

Apple propaganda notwithstanding, the reason tower PCs are big isn’t because they’re outdated. The reason tower PCs are so bulky is because they’re designed to be user serviceable. The case has lots of open space so your big, meaty hands can easily access all of the components, and everything is secured with friction-fit tabs and standard machine screws to minimise the need for specialised tools. A properly laid out tower PC is fully serviceable with a single Phillips-head screwdriver and no greater manual skill than your average Lego playset – heck, for some of the more modern case layouts you don’t even need the screwdriver, unless you’re performing major surgery like a full motherboard replacement.
Like, think about who benefits from convincing you that a fully modular computing device that can be serviced and repaired with your bare hands and minimal technical skill is unfashionable.

Since klingon sex is basically violent wrestling, I wonder if the klingons don’t have BDSM but like the opposite. Klingons gathering in secrecy in dark cellars to engage in sweet, gentle loving, to the scorn of fellow klingons.
“How can you do that?” the other klingons ask. “You don’t even draw blood? Not a single furniture breaking? It doesn’t seem… natural”.
“What is this… cuddle, you speak of?”

I wasn’t crazy about this piece so I wasn’t intending on publicly posting it again, but it keeps getting stolen every five minutes so I figured I’d put it here so people at least know who to attribute the original thing to lmao

This is what Matt Walsh had to say about the guy who shut down Ben Shapiro, by the way.
While everybody was busy diminishing the success of his deliberate and purposeful reversal of Ben’s arguing style by saying he just has “male privilege,” look what happens the moment the transphobes know he’s trans.
I also want to point out that, if he was cis, his initial manner of throwing Ben off his game would not have worked. Ben looked confident at first because he’s dealt with cis guys before. He’s dealt with people who have male privilege before and he knows how to weaponise any blind spots against them. He’s not used to dealing with a trans man who has direct experience with systemic misogyny, who does not have male privilege, but who looks like somebody he generally would categorise as a male, and it took him by surprise. It is somewhat of a privilege to be able to pass as cis, but it’s not cis male privilege.
Privilege is not conditional on hiding yourself. If the moment you’re open about your life and experiences, this is what people say about you? You don’t have the privilege that people who do not have those experiences have (that is, cis men).
It’s literally repackaged bi/ace discourse. “Well if a bi person is in a straight passing relationship they have straight privilege! An ace person can just not talk about their sex life, they have straight privilege!” No.
If you’re talking about the very limited (but real) amount of privilege that can be accessed by trans people who can pass for cis men, say that. But “male privilege” as a concept is simply not something any trans person has access to.
