Also i have to say how much I love how you use things like the phone and alice to properly utilise the setting,,

Idk how to properly explain this, but, so many other fics with similar premises dont seem to use the domestic setting with the proper detail and effort? Like the house and family being just a cursory background in order to provide the character dynamics. But urs feels like ur fully taking advantage of all the uncomfortable feelings u can wring out of the setting. (Srsly how many parent-child fics properly use the other parent)

Like I cant describe how, but, even in the first ch, ur bathroom felt so much more like a real bathroom lol (maybe cause of details like the toothbrush??) - like it made me as the reader go ‘yikes that acc just happening in his home’ and it made the whole fic more harrowing?

honestly, while most parts of the chapter were planned in advance, the phone bit was completely off the top of my head. very much inspired by the old landline my parents used to have and that i'd hold up to my ear while pressing random buttons just to hear what kind of sounds it'd make

and i'm rly happy introducing "alice"/nyo!england paid off in the end! i was super excited about all the possibilities her character could bring to the fic. i have absolutely no idea when, how (or if) the third part will be finished, but i ideally would love to expand on all these concepts and family dynamics!!! esp matthew as of now

and thank YOU anon again for sharing your thoughts!!! messages/comments like these are admittedly one of the few things that fuel my nearly non-existent drive to write haha

as a writer, there's really no higher praise than knowing that my works solicit such genuine, physical and emotional reactions in people, especially in a work as raw and visceral as this one; also since the fic bit... personal, to me in a way? lol. writing it definitely helped me process and acknowledge a lot of things
