Vossem is a small town next to Tervuren, Duisburg, Moorsel and Leefdaal. The Voer, a small creek, flows through the village. That’s why Tervuren’s name used to be Tervoeren. In 1897, a railway from Brussels to Vossem was placed. In 1905, a connection from Vossem to Tienen was also added. You can still recognize this place by the name of the bus stop ‘Oud Station’, which means old station. This one disappeared in 1940.
In Vossem, there’s also a beautiful Saint Paulus Church. This is a Romanesque-Gothic one, with pieces from 1200.
Vossem used to be an independent village, but in 1977 it became the municipality of Tervuren.

Our little village has two schools. The primary school and the English school. There live many English people in our neighborhood so it's a good thing that Vossem has a small school for the English people if they want to go to school and learn new things. Normally, a class has around 10 children.
The school in Vossem is situated in the center. It’s called GBS Vossem and it’s a public elementary school. It’s a very small and local school but that’s excellent because you have a personal relationship with the students and the teachers. Everybody is welcome in the school, no matter which color, size or length you have.

Every year in August, Vossem has two events. The 'dorpsfeesten' and the 'grute platoo'. During the whole weekend, there are drinking stands, a podium with concerts, activities for kids but mostly a lot of fun for people of all ages.
There’s also a library with lots of comic books in it, for both adults and children. There are many series that get updated regularly, and each 3 months there is a new series added to their collection. For every comic book you pay €0.20, but it really is worth the money. You may keep it for up to 2 weeks.
Lastly, there’s the scouts. Scouts Vossem stands for fun, fun and more fun. Every Sunday, the leaders give children an unforgettable day with lots of activities. Once a year there is a camp for ten days. Sometimes they organize charity events to collect some money for other activities.
You should totally check these things out!

Vossem might be a small village but it has a lot of shops. The Okay, Renmans and the Aldi are shops where you can find all sorts of food. Next to the Aldi is the Aveve. Here you can buy necessities for your animals or for the garden. There is a bakery where you can buy real artisanal treats. A little bit further there is a press shop to buy the daily newspaper or magazines. In addition, there’s also a drug store and two dentists. And last but least our lovely small restaurant called ‘Pat @ Frit’, they have the best fries in Flanders. It's a place where you can meet all the inhabitants of Vossem and eat together!

Vossem has a very big link with music. It has two different harmonies. Harmony 1 has more members than harmony 2. Between these harmonies there is kind of a clash because they are each other's competitors. If there is an event in Vossem, both of them come to play music and entertain the people.
