“I would like that,” Diedrich nods with a half a smile. “I know I can’t ask you to just come back but- I don’t trust most of them.”
You have been avoiding me, Nurse. Did I do something wrong?- voidyrick
“Of course you haven’t, Diedrich…” Reese still remembered the nightmare she had had about a mouth opening up on his stomach - it had to have been a nightmare; such things did not happen in real life. She felt stupid for how much it freaked her out even in daylight hours. And maybe she had been avoiding him… “I would never avoid you dear. I’ve just been very busy lately; I’m being promoted and things are changing.” She smiles, conveying that everything was okay. “Don’t you like the nurse I assigned to you instead?”

He'd noticed the doctor's door was open, and managed to give his new, uncaring nurse the slip and stay behind. Maybe he could find some sort of document to change schedules, forge Rictor's name, get Reese back as his nurse.
He'd become distracted while rummaging, finding a fountain pen with a sharp point he could use later, sticking it in his tucked in shirt to smuggle it out. But Rictor had caught him rifling through papers.
"I got lost," he clearly lied.

“Excuse me. What do you think you are doing?” Rictor sneered as he caught the other digging in his desk.

"No. She doesn't talk to me, just gives me my pills, escorts me to free time and meal times, and leaves. She's not nice."
He gestures to the empty table in his room.
"She took my books. I wasn't even eating the pages out of them."

The sight of a drooling scar was enough to unnerve anyone. Her first thought was that he needed to be sent to emergency; how had he managed to rip open a scar like that?
But then she saw the teeth underneath and a step back instinctively. The hair on the back of her neck stands on end, she attempts to speak but nothing comes. Reese tells herself to move - do anything- but she seems stuck in place, panic locking her joints.
“Behold, Reese!” He giggles, but it’s a hollow sort of sound. The teeth parted, only enough to spill more black ichor and allow a glimpse of something writhing behind them. It doesn’t open any further though, fortunately for her. The Void had other prey in mind, and the kind nurse could have other uses further down the line.
[asylum Au] "Hello, Diedrich. It seems you've gone pretty quiet. Is something bothering you, dear?"
He looks at her, the first time he’s acknowledged anybody in days. His eyes are vacant, distant, like somebody placed under a trance. His lip twitches into a forced smile, but he doesn’t say anything to her, just writes, almost having filled out the journal given to him with the same, cursive script.‘It will be over soon.’

Oh. This place is such a den of heathenry. It’s like I didn’t sleep for a week at all. Such a shame.

"It doesn't hurt."
He shaking hands said differently as he lifted his shirt, exposing his thin, sallow stomach and the scars across it. Self-inflicted and related to ritual, his case had determined. The largest scar of all cut perfectly horizontally across his navel, and it's this scar that starts to drip black ichor...
His fingers dig into the scar, pulling it apart to reveal hard, curved plates of enamel. Magic couldn't be used here, but physical anomalies that had been brought in from the outside...quite different.

"Are you asking for proof?"
Diedrich scratches his stomach, nails tearing at the thin fabric of his patient's garb, slow, then gradually more frantic.
"Shall I perform a miracle?"

"He's fine." He reassures her. "I wouldn't hurt my feeder, he's a good man."
His eyes are still vacant, but pointed at her.
"You know who I am, Reese."

He pauses, then scrawls deftly over top the last line he’d written. ‘It will be over soon.’

Diedrich has been quiet for about a week now. He still functions, still takes his meds, but any attempt to speak to him is met with complete silence and very little recognition, as if he is on autopilot.
Well, except he writes, in crisp script, repeating for pages:
It will be over soon.

Diedrich is most likely grey-ace but goooood luck forging emotional connections in this place. Not that he'd want anybody to touch him anyway.

Reese smirks just a little watching him eat. It was a pitiable display, but that almost made it cute.
"Well…“ She ponders a moment. "All things considered, you’ve been very well behaved and I think that can be rewarded. I’ll allow you to keep the light on until I finish nighttime rounds - it’s all I can do for you.” She turned to walk out of the room. “You’ve got about fifteen minutes.”
“You’re too kind, Reese,” he replied, using her name. Too familiar for a patient. Stop that. He still lay down on his bed, pulling a paper-thin sheet over his lower half. He didn’t like the dark, ironically. The dark encouraged the Void to be more active, to crawl closer to the surface like some sort of godly tapeworm. He might have even been able to draw it out by putting a bowl of warm milk between his legs. He stared up at the stain on the ceiling.
"Good evening, Nurse Reese." The man greets from his bed, where he was laying, kind of tired looking. - @voidyrick

“How are you feeling tonight, Diedrich?” The nurse enters his room fully under the careful watch of Lue the Orderly. She has his bedtime meds in one hand, a glass of water in the other.

“She says I’m her King…” he explained as he did have no memory but he apparently had a wife and child who was murdered in front of him
“Then you should be with her, it’s destiny.” He returned to his comic book, tucking his legs to his body, folding himself further into the chair. The blind leading the blind. “I will be one with my own god someday.”

She watches his eyes for a moment, trying to judge carefully if he could really be trusted. Reese decides it’s worth giving a chance. Slowly she reaches into her apron pocket and pulls out a small soft dinner roll. It really wasn’t much at all, barely a two inch square, but it was food. And all that matter to Reese was that he wouldn’t choke even if he decided to wolf it down. He needed just enough to buffer his stomach against the new meds.
Reese holds the roll out to him with a flat palm, certain he would snatch it without much mind if her fingers were in the way. She would deny the accusation if it was ever made aloud, but the truth was she had a minor soft spot for hungry boys. There was an odd sort of pleasure and satisfaction in feeding them.
He did snatch the bread and scarfed it down like a desperate, hungry dog. He looked up at her with a look that said ‘that’s it?’ before glancing down at the floor. “Thank you, ma’am. I don’t want to go to sleep yet....”
