FTL Fanfic: Last Remains

I wrote a thing~!

FTL is my favorite game (well, tied for 1st with Fire Emblem: Awakening). I recently wrote a fic for it. To those not aware of FTL, is it basically just really fandom blind sci-fi. No canon knowledge required, because, let’s be real, there’s barely any canon to begin with.

Rebels begin their final push into the crumbling Federation’s capital sector. Newly-promoted Captain Weir manages to steal vital Federation data in the form of DNA carried by his long-time opponent. But attraction has long since been brewing between them, and tensions are running high… It’s a tale of a cat and mouse game gone awry.

“The thrill was in the chase, after all. But the capture could be satisfying, too, as she recalled his sadistic grin as he once pinned her to the wall with his gun on her heart, demanding she hand over the data or else.

I just made fanfiction out of my own fanfiction. So an AU of my own fanfiction (the main universe doesn't have a story though so it's not like I made an AU of an AU). What's wrong with me? XD was fun though

Overall feelings on Hakuoki:

I just wanted to romance pretty boys in a historical setting. How did it end up like this. Playing the game is like asking for your heart to get stabbed repeatedly. I'm going to go cry and make up my own canons now, bye.

Jeez why are all his epilogues so bitter despite it being the happy end Dx Otomate really twisting the knife here. More games but also just keeps piling on the ambiguity.

Also I looked up the average lifespan of a Japanese person around 1870 (Shinsengumi fell apart in 1869), and it was 36.6 years. Okita historically died when he was 25/26, but he outlived that age in his "good" end. So he actually was not that far off from dying in the first place. None of the Shinsengumi were, and that isn't even counting that they risked their lives every day. This makes me feel better because to me the game is trying to pull our heartstrings with our modern day, "65-80 year lifespan".

It's actually really impressive that the real life Saito LITERALLY doubled that and died at 72. From being an alcoholic no less...he could have probably lived even longer.

The real concern is Chizuru who is a pure blood demon, though in this route she DOES use her fury powers a BIT, I doubt it significantly shortened her life. However I always the expectation that she would outlive most of her husbands. Maybe she goes back to other demons or reunites with Saito/Harada/Shinpachi, even if not romantically (tho I do have a Saito bias 👀)?

Anyway the point of this was that Souji's a good boy, deserves a long happy life, and GETS ONE.

Rough text translation for Hakuoki Reimeiroku - Okita Souji Epilogue.

Hey guys! Has anyone played Hakuoki Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms? There is also a branch game Hakuoki Reimeiroku. I found only one video with Okita Souji Epilogue. It’s a very touching little story from Okita and Chizuru’s life together.

I don’t know what came over me, but… I just… accidentally translated entire video… I don’t even know Japanese! I copied the Japanese text from this video by Screen Translator and QTranslate and I used a google translator combined with my logic. It was one of the hardest battles, I assure you -___- But the text was quite simple and I hope there is no gross errors in my work. I tried to translate everything carefully as I can, but I’m not translator, and therefore it can be written a little rough. And English is not my native language… soooooo … I don’t know, but some people asked me to share my personal translation. There is Japanese, English and Russian text.

Of course, I will be just happy if someone more knowledgeable translates the text correctly and shares it with other people. 

My translation was personal, I didn’t plan to share such a rough text with others, but probably this translation is better than nothing…
