okay but harringrove based on this text post and the weird city episode with dylan,

steve is older and kinda meh about life??? has his fancy corporate job and has a nice place, a nice car, good friends. like, his life is pretty decent. but robin. god love her, but she’s insistent that steve needs someone in his life??

which, okay, to be fair steve does feel lonely, but he’s not gonna settle. he’s just not gonna do it, and if that means being single and not having a relationship and not having sex, then that’s okay???

until robin takes him out one night. she takes him out to a club she often frequents just to do something different. to have fun and to get steve out of his business suits and out of his head. he should’ve known, in hindsight, that it’d be a gay club. it’s a little more lively than what he’s used to, the crowd a bit on the younger side, but he enjoys himself. him and robin actually let loose, and steve feels the alcohol warm in his blood.

which is how he accidentally stumbles into someone, beaming up at them with a smile on his face. he’s not drunk but he certainly feels the heat of the liquid in his chest. “pardon me,” he says with the intention of slipping past the stranger, doesn’t mean to catch his eye.

but steve does. feels pretty blue eyes eye him with interest, with curiosity that makes steve feel seen and uncomfortable. makes him feel judged. and he gets it. he’s got crows feet and smile lines, and he’s really beginning to think that he’ll die alone because who’s gonna love him like this?

except when steve’s eyes fall to the ground, not having felt so small in years having learned the art of the corporate dance, he hears, “what’s your name, pretty boy?”

and that line? that line is the beginning of something steve can’t explain. it doesn’t actually start with a one-night stand because billy - as steve learns that night - feels him up and kisses him, slips his number into steve’s pocket before he leaves, and steve panics?? robin almost cries laughing, tells him, “why not?” and steve feels awfully horrified.

“what twenty-something year-old is interested in me?” he asks in dramatics. “it’s because i have money, isn’t it? that’s what this is about. i knew it.”

with his arms crossed, robin nudges him and sing-songs, “steve.”

arching a brow, steve blinks at her, not amused.

“you’re more attractive than you think. just have fun.”

which is how billy becomes a permanent resident in steve’s life, though he doesn’t know it at first. after he calls him. after they have dinner. after they have sex and it turns out that billy doesn’t actually wanna leave. not even after steve panics because, “it’s a fling, right? that’s what this is. jesus, how did i let myself get into this mess? fuck me.”

billy, who’s young and bright-eyed and way too fucking cocky for his age, pulls steve out of his thoughts by resting his hands on steve’s hips. chases his gaze until pretty brown eyes are focused on him. “you’re it for me, pretty boy. knew it from the moment i saw you.”

it’s probably the sappiest thing billy will ever say, but it’s true, and steve has to rid of the guilt for feeling happy. like, he’s really happy. billy makes him happy, and steve knows he doesn’t wanna give that up for nothing.

Headcanon:

Steve didn’t kiss with tongue until he met Billy. He’d tried it once with a girl and she told him she thought it was gross so he never did it again.

Enter Billy “I can’t keep my tongue in my mouth” Hargrove.

The first time he and Steve make out, he teases his tongue against Steve’s and pulls away with an annoyed huff when Steve doesn’t respond with a little tongue action back.

“Are...are you not into tongue kissing? Cause I gotta tell you man, that’s gonna be hard for me to give up. I mean, obviously I won’t do it if you’re not into it but—-

Steve cuts him off, tilting his head and biting his lip nervously.

“You don’t mind? You don’t think it’s...gross?”

Billy shakes his head, climbing more fully into Steve’s lap and running his fingers through Steve’s hair.

“I don’t mind at all, pretty boy...now put your damn tongue in my mouth”

Im literally tired to say the same thing over and over to haters. You think Billy is just an abusive character? Fine.

I suggest you to watch ANY Concrete Genie’s gameplay. Just watch. Its a fun game about a boy casted out who likes to draw weird and sweet little monsters to escape from his reality. He is constantly chased by a group of mean kids, they beat him, destroy his draws, pretty much everything we see an abuser do. But then you discover that most of the kids were abused by their parents, or left alone while still a little child. They were passing along the behavier they receive. Its not a excuse, is the reason WHY they did! For them, it was just normal to do that bc SOMEONE (they own parents) did to them so, why not do with everyone?

Its simple, man. Before go wishing death to an abuser, try to see what’s behind him. You may be able to help someone.

this argument royally PISSES me off because Eleven had real friends, a man who loved her enough to want to adopt her and a boy who fell in love with her despite how different she was. Not to mention Eleven LITERALLY killed people and people still say she didn’t choose to “act that way”. Billy had no real friends, a half ass step mom who just stands and watches when he gets the shit beaten out of him, a mom who didn’t care enough to stay, and a sister who doesn’t like him. So of course he’s gonna lash out because hatred is what he’s used to, it’s all he knows. (But he still died for your fav because of a simple gentle touch and a happy memory but y’all ain’t ready for that conversation.)

Sooooo to defend your ship and your point that Billy is trash and he dont deserves nothing but hate in life u will ignore the fact that he is a victim of abuse too, that he is a 18 years old boy without any help is his goddamn life, who the only parent he have is a piece of garbage, that Neil (or, pff, any other human) do not care if Billy needs help to become a better person, that BILLY NEEDED HELP, one freaking hand to show him something good and not actually death?

Srsly what part of that did u not understand? IS ON THE FUCKING SHOW!!! Forget about Harringrove for one moment and look at Billy as a human being. Someone lost, desperate since his mother left him, using all his mechanism to huh, idk, SURVIVE, that MAYBE, just MAAYBE, could have been less a jerk and more a person if people LOOKED AT HIM THAT WAY!!!! i don’t have any beef with stonathan shippers but this is ridiculous.

people don’t ship stonathan not because they don’t think jonathan isn’t hot(charlie heaton is super cute so idk what op is implying here)

they don’t ship it cause of the messy and horrible way things ended with the love triangle bullshit in season 2. plus, billy is one of the most interesting characters in the show where as jonathan has just gotten more boring over the course of 3 seasons. if theres anyone you should be angry at, it should be the writers for not putting more effort in jonathan’s character.

and many harringrove shippers dislike the scene where all the old married housewifes were staring at billy like a piece of meat?? is this person saying that we ship karen/billy cause thats obviously not the case lol

also, since when are all harringrove shippers straight girls?? are you fucking kidding me? i would say a vast majority of us are lgbtq.. and disgusting sex fantasies? what? harringrove shippers write more than just porn, some of the most well written and emotionally turning fics ive read have been harringrove.
