aesthetic board : This Savage Song - Victoria Schwab
...
Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music.
When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

aesthetic board : Sawkill Girls - Claire Legrand
...
Who are the Sawkill Girls?
Marion: The newbie. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.
Zoey: The pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.
Val: The queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives; a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.
Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires. Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight…until now.

may tbr
not expecting this month to be revolutionary but there’s no way it’ll be worse than april. anyway, i’m going to organize my tbr my genre. i’m also going to say whether i predict each book to be a five stars or whatever. if you want to learn more about what books i am actually currently reading or have previously read, my goodreads username is mariah vlue.
fanstasy tbr books
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I’m a bit nervous to read this since it either gets really good feedback or really bad feedback. From what I hear, the main character is unlikable. I’m a very plot driven person, so this might not be a problem for me. Prediction: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this one, especially with the writing style. I’m not really a stickler for writing so I think i’ll be fine. Prediction: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff. This is the sequel so I don’t really know much🤷🏻‍♀️. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. This book is either going to be great or the same boring fantasy (from what I’ve heard). Prediction: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay by J.K. Rowling. I think while I read this I’ll be wishing I was reading Harry Potter. Pray for me. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️
sci-fi tbr books
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I really don’t have anything to say about this besides I think I’ll love it. Hell, I know I’ll love it. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
contemporary tbr books
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I’ve already tried to read this book before and dnf’ed it nearly 200 pages in. I think the middle and end will be better than the beginning though. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️-⭐️
Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak. 1. I loved The Book Thief, so if I don’t love this, I’ll be unhappy. 2. I’ve heard mixed reviews. oh no. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
other?? tbr books
The Miserable Mill by Lemony Snicket. I’ve enjoyed the rest of the books in this series so I don’t expect less from this one. Prediction:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

april reads
April didn’t turn out *as* bad as I expected. It took me TWO WEEKS to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is crazy because I love that book. I was just in a huge reading slump. After I finished that I finally got back into the swing of things and picked up some books that I wouldn’t usually read. This month is the worst so far with 16 books. That is still good (obviously) but it’s bad compared to my other months. My favorite this month (other than the Harry Potter books, because we know I love those at this point) is Eliza and Her Monsters. The worst book of the month was A Great and Terrible Beauty. The average rating rounded out to being 4.0 stars (which really surprises me, maybe my calculater is broken). let’s get into those ratings :)
Saga Vol 1 by Brian K. Vaughan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saga Vol 2 by Brian K. Vaughan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️*4.25
Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter, ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saga Vol 3 by Brian K. Vaughan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saga Vol 4 by Brian K. Vaughan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Invisible Stars by Atsuki Kyouyama⭐️⭐️⭐️
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️*4.75
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray ⭐️⭐️
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kikoenai Koe by Atsuki Kyouyama⭐️⭐️
Internment by Samira Ahmed ⭐️⭐️⭐️*3.5
That’s it!! follow me on my goodreads i guess. my username is mariah vlue. see you for my may tbr👋🏻

ANYWAY, I read a total of 10,213 pages within 29 books........yes, 29 books this month. I KNOW. but i’m kinda in a reading slump now so don’t expect much in my april wrap up😶 i’m not gonna choose a favorite and least favorite because this month had so many REALLY good and REALLY bad ones so it would be too hard. my average rating this month is 3.9 stars. anyway, let’s get into the books I read and the ratings :)
