we Need more characters in media who are disabled just because their body did that. having disabled characters at all is so rare and usually they were injured in some disaster and they Should still exist but like !! as someone who slowly became disabled for no apparent reason. i want character like me, too

There's something extremely depressing to me about how many people just don't want to get weird with female characters the way they do with male characters.

Like, I can kind of see why a lot of people feel weird about writing about bad things happening to female characters, but what it leads to is everyone putting female characters up on a shelf where you can admire them but you can't actually do anything interesting with them because that might be sexist or just make people feel bad. And I think that's actually a whole lot worse in the long run.

Winter is already proving deadly in Gaza, with the 7th death due to hypothermia reported yesterday. It's especially true for children, but after 14 months of suffering every type of deprivation imaginable — lack of food, clean water, medicine, sleep — adults are just as vulnerable to the cold.

The Ashours (@amalashuor) lost their tent about a month ago, after the sea rose and swept everything out (including Amal, Moatasem, & their little girl Maryam too). Unfortunately, donations have been crawling in at best, at a time when this family desperately needs them just to meet the absolute bare minimum they need to survive.
