Her eyes widened as the doctor described the treatment needed. He was going to need to relearn how to walk? She began to hope that she’d recommend a physical therapist to help that part go along faster because the sooner he gets better, hopefully the faster things will improve all around. Looking at him with worried eyes, she began to wonder if the doctor was going to say more or just only be in the room to say that information for a split second. She was just glad that Lewis didn’t die; she wouldn’t know what to do if that happened.

“Where did you go? Why didn’t you come back?”

“How are you still alive after all of these years..?”

She bit her lip as she saw the doctor enter. Why didn’t she come immediately instead of a few minutesafter? Surely she would’ve gotten a nurse to look over him if she was taking care of something else. She resumed holding his hand trying to comfort him. Well, those were some new details she never knew until now; looking at him, she couldn’t believe he was the only survivor. It would’ve been better if more had survived the accident since she wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a case of survivor’s guilt. Tucking some hair behind her ear, she sighed loudly as she listened to the doctor.

“Where did you go? Why didn’t you come back?”

“How are you still alive after all of these years..?”

“It’s alright, don’t worry. I hope you’ll be able to use your limbs soon.” She moved the cup towards his mouth trying to make sure that he gets nourished, especially after being on IVs and who knows what for the past two years. It broke her heart to see the other not capable of doing much.

It was her first, hopefully last, time dealing with such a situation. She wished that the accident wouldn’t have happened. Life would be happy and not having to constantly worry about the possibility of the other dying. She reached over to the water and grabbed it giving it to Lewis waiting to see if he could pink it up or if she had to administer it to him. At this point, she just wanted things to be back to normal.

“She’s our kid, Lewis,” she responded trying to stop herself from crying as he proceeded to hold one of his hands. “Even though you weren’t there, we brought another life into this world.. She’s only ever gotten to see you whenever she’s able to come visit with me. She’s only heard your voice through Youtube videos. She never got to properly meet you, her father.”

Sighing, she pulled up a picture of a child biting her lip. “...This is our daughter. Her name is Violet.” She began to cry thinking about that day. “I found out that I was pregnant with her on the day you got in the accident.”

She looked up and bit her lip. “You got in a serious car accident...” How the hell was she going to tell him about the kid? “It was bad... You were put under a coma since that was really the only way they could help you recover.. I don’t know. The doctor’s gonna have to evaluate you and see.” She quickly walked out to get the doctor and sat back down. “I also have some news.”

Looking down, she teared up relieved that he’s still alive and also teared up at the fact that he probably didn’t even know why he was in the hospital. She didn’t want to be the one telling him why, especially since she’d just break down crying. “For the past two years I’ve been so worried... I didn’t want to lose you..”
