     Creating a body of artwork under the briefs of Index and Evolution aims to provoke consideration of everyday materials and disposible items, regarding consumption of waste and the detremental impacts they have on the environment signifies that we are all contributing to the mass destruction of ecological systems. By making a small change in our daily lives through recycling we have the ability to aid the planet in all aspects ranging from pollution (in all forms) to climate change. This project's intention is to focus on transforming found materials and common objects into aestetic and captivating art forms whilst continuing to uphold the indexical properties which lie within every scrap of rubbish. Through a wide exploration of media the body of work will take shape via 3D sculptural forms, 2D drawings fabricated from the sculptures and a range of workshops developing potential routes and options to explore this topic further.

Quick Reflection
Looking back at project I feel there was some more aspects I could’ve improved on such as;
-Reviewing the brief more and understanding what is being asked of me in greater depth and if needed talk to the tutors more.
- Exploring alternative methods of drawing and pushing my boundaries out more as I felt for the most part I kept within my comfort zone.
- Keeping a better hold on time management and prioritizing things I want to get out of the subject, as there was still so many more aspects I felt I could’ve brought forward sooner.
- Expressing my thought process and annotating in a greater format and explaining why things are relevant. Looking back on the project I have realized at certain points I have been quite vague and perhaps forgot that not everyone is automatically going to understand what and why I am doing things. So going forward this would be an important aspect I intend to improve.
However, overall I am happy with what I was able to achieve throughout this unit.

“Floating Orbs” - for this piece I cut off the bottom parts of bottles, flattened and turned them into a series of orbs which was then suspended with light projected through it. The images above show the outcome complete and how I intend it to be viewed , including the shadows behind it and the mesh version to the side (Display for evaluating may be slightly different).

Development from the orbs - I acquired small sections of mesh which I then wrapped around the orbs to gain the general shape of them, I then formed the mesh together to make mini structures and suspended them next to the orbs to show I have taken this idea further. The images above show the investigation of light and shadows within both the orbs and the mesh.

Experimentational video of PVA & ink being poured over plastic casing before I tried it out over the Orbs I had made from bottles. This piece however took a long time to dry as all the pva pooled in between the middle of the bubbles, but overall I was happy with the results from it and was ready to proceed further with the orbs.

The video shows the PVA glue dripping onto paper underneath the orbs creating unintentional drawings which went on to become a series of 3. This is an area that could be developed for further study – the notion of 'incidental' artworks.

PVA glue was then poured over the entire structure with colours used to represent different environmental issues such as green for landscape pollution, blue for water pollution and pink for representation of air pollution. During this process I never took into account that the orbs pva would spill over onto one another, however this is a good sign that it did as pollution is messy  and isn’t just confined to the one aspect.

Developing more wearable forms from plastic packaging further to create a Scarf and belt. Personally I felt with the type of air bubbles this piece had it didn’t really work as a scarf as I felt I was wearing a life vest instead due to its chunky padding and wearing it as a belt just reminded me of having a rubber ring around me (swimming in plastic). If I were to do it again I would deflate some of the air pockets and customize them more, however, for what it was I enjoyed going around the college though I found that no one really engaged with me regardless of wearing there plastic pieces.

Disposable Plastic Orbs created entirely from the base of plastic bottles. As  individual pieces they make up lovely shapes and shadows.I feel this idea can be taken further again and explored through installation and suspension, I would also like to add colour to these orbs as in doing so I feel I would be making a bolder statement with them.

Images depicting construction paper and sugar paper soaked by water then draped over/around disposable plastic, submerging it to hopefully receive a copy of these shapes via paper.

A video showing a small part of the process of creating my plastic performance dress wear by using a glue gun to attach the layers of bubble wrap to each other, I considered the idea of sewing the dress together but I opted against it as I wanted to have a flawless finish that was all plastic, this way you aren’t able to see where the ends meet as it all merges together into the one, which is the look I essentially was going for.

A sound/ video of me popping the bubbles on the side of my dress as a way to try to initiate conversations or to gain a form of interaction as most people love the sound or find a form of satisfaction in bursting bubble wrap.

Catwalking to raise plastic awareness ; site specific performance piece.
I purposely chose the 7th floor rooftop gardens to hold a site specific performance as is outdoors/among the environment and has a layered part of the wall (runway) that proved vital to this performance. The video above shows a snipet of the performance. Reflecting back I would improve this performance by to have several outfits for changing purposes and make them more wacky and outrageous. I would also invite an audience to come and see it too.
