Peak: Group 1, with income less than 10,000 US$ 

The bar chart for ‘Alcohol Consumption Group’ is displayed below:

Peak: Group 1, with alcohol consumption less than 5 liters.

The bar chart for ‘Suicide Rate’ is displayed below:

Peak: Group 1, with suicide rate per 100,000 is less than 5.

The scattered plots for the above data are displayed below.

Plot 1: Income Rate vs Alcohol Consumption Rate.

From the scattered plot of income rate vs alcohol consumption rate, it is clear that the lower income group consume more alcohol than higher income group. 

Plot 2: Suicide Rate vs Income Rate.

From the scattered plot of suicide rate vs income rate, it is clear that the lower income group has higher tendency to suicide.

Plot 3: Suicide Rate vs Alcohol Consumption Rate.

From the scattered plot of suicide rate vs alcohol consumption rate, it is clear that the higher alcohol consumption rate is negatively associated with the suicide rate.

Week 1 Assignment (Getting Your Research Project Started)

The dataset which I have selected for my research work is ‘Gapminder Data’. I have decided to find the association between the income rate, alcohol consumption rate, and suicide rate. Research shows that the alcohol consumption is negatively associated with the income rate [1]. Research shows that the suicide rates were positively associated with alcohol consumption rate [2]. Research shows that the alcohol consumption rates increase the suicide rate [3].

 So, my questions of interests for this research are as follows:

1-   How is alcohol consumption associated with the income rate?

2-   How is alcohol consumption is associated with the suicide rate?

3-   How is the income rate is associated with the suicide rate?
