For next week...
Read and take notes on the remainder of Chapter 2.
(AM Section only!) Complete activities 2.8 & 2.20 (pages 66-67) to turn in. *Always write in complete sentences when you are turning something in!
Read the article "What Makes a Leader?" by Daniel Goleman. In an essay, summarize the article (1 paragraph), then explain how the information relates to you and your future career as a photographer (or whatever you plan on doing) (2 paragraphs). The essay should be at least three (5-7 sentence) paragraphs long. I want to get a better sense of how you write formally. Please type your assignment and pay attention to grammar and writing.
If you haven't already, create a tumblr account and follow the class blog. If you have an account, you may create a secondary blog, just make sure you post to the correct blog.
All assignments should be ready to turn in at the beginning of class on 9/16.
Have a great week!

A short professional bio has become increasingly important as most of us suffer from information fatigue and cannot be bothered to read lengthy documents about anybody. Experts such as Matthew Levy reckon your bio is the most important document you will ever write.
A bio is useful for a host of reasons such as applying for a job, publishing an article or guest blog post, general networking etc. It’s basically a great vehicle for quickly communicating who you are and what you do.
You are likely to have a bio somewhere on the Internet already. If you write a blog, it will be your About page. If you are on LinkedIn, it will be your summary. If you are on Twitter, it will be your, wait for it… Bio! These three most probably have different lengths, with the minnow being Twitter that only allows for a 140 character bio.
As writing a professional bio is the hottest thing since sliced bread, you best get on with it and follow these simple steps to do your personal brand proud. Here are the a few tips followed by a sample bio by Chris Brogan.

*Communication Tip* When replying to an email that was sent to a group, pay attention to whether you choose to "reply" (respond only to the sender) or "reply all" (your response will be sent to everyone included in the email!). If the message pertains only to you, choose "reply." Only choose "reply all" if you are including information that the rest of the group should know. Too many people choose the wrong reply and it will annoy other group members that receive these replies!

The syllabus should remain relatively accurate, but I will go over all assignments for the following week in class. I will also post them on the class blog for reference!

Unfortunately I cannot embed the presentations but I can link you to them. I use a program called Prezi that is free to students and educators (it is basically a cooler version of Powerpoint!). Once you click the link you are free to scroll around and review the information. They feature some of the more advanced presentations on the home page and they are definitely worth checking out!
