Maybe for an au Eddie is a prince and Richie is a rogue that’s kidnaped him for ransom and they become unexpectedly close? :)
What….yes. Just yess all over. OMG.

The small moved alongoutside of his barred window, the people shuffling aimlessly as they purchasedtheir needs from vendors, haggling with one another loudly. Horses andcarriages passed by without a second glance, the people unaware of their king’sonly son, blinded by the veil that his captors had thrown over him. He hadheard of a bounty for his return and that knights had been sent to bring himback unharmed but as they continued to press further west, the prince realizedon thing.
He was never going to make it out alive.
His shackles dug into his wrists, bounding him in place. Thetender skin was raw and bruised, the long day of travel wearing down on hisflesh. He sighed, leaning back into his hay bed, the small room becoming almostsuffocating. From his calculations they were only one more day’s ride untilthey were out of his father’s land, entering enemy territory. It was abeginning to an end. His death would insure a war between the two kingdoms, igniting a fire from all corners of the empire.
The rouges were paid handsomely for his capture anddelivery. Whatever ransom that they were asking was a hoax, there was no waythere were going to give up the next crowned leader of the strongest kingdom. He was a pawn in a bigger scheme, a useless asset to weaken his father. Theprince was many things, but he wasn’t stupid. It was only a matter of timebefore it all ended for him.
There was a light rapping on his door, he didn’t answer theyentered anyways. Richie offered a kind smile, his hands carrying a small peaceoffering of bred and rum. The prince smirked, rolling his eyes. “I thought youwould prefer to see my face rather than the others. They are still prettyworked up after their run in with your father’s men.”
“Shame.” Eddie replied harshly, “Wouldn’t want them to beuncomfortable while they smuggle me out of the kingdom.”
Richie chuckled, laying the food on the bed before kneelingdown in front of Eddie. Gently he lifted the prince’s hands, inspecting theharsh wounds under his cuffs. With a frown he pulled out a key from his pocket, unlocking him from his chains. They hit the floor with a loud clank andinstantly Eddie brought his aching wrists to his chest. “Don’t know why theykeep those on you, it’s not like you’re going to attack five armed men.”
“You don’t know me, I could surprise you.” Eddie joked, rubbing his chafed skin.
The thief snorted, landing back to sit on his bottom but notmoving away. “You, Edward Kaspbrak, I know very well. It’s my job remember?”
Eddie shrugged, taking a sip of his rum and cherishing theway it felt as it slid down his throat. “Well, it won’t be for long so youbetter learn a new trade.”
“Well once the ransom is met then I’ll focus on our nexttarget.” Richie replied, watching his prisoner take a healthy bite of hisbread. “It’s a cycle. Catch and release, you’re just a fish in a much biggersea.”
“It won’t matter if my father pays up.” Eddie whispered,“Once we make it to the other kingdom, they’re going to kill me.”
Richie’s face dropped, Eddie could practically hear thehitch in his breathing, feel his sudden wave of consciousness. “No” He growled, shaking his head in doubt. “No that wasn’t a part of the plan. They told methat-“
“Think about it Rich.” Eddie replied softly, “I’m thecrowned prince to a kingdom on the verge of war with its neighbor. This isn’t akidnaping, it’s an execution.”
Silence was the prince’s answer, Richie’s mouth was gapedopen, his eyes suddenly glazed over as if seeing the truth in his words. Eddiewanted to reach out, to caress the rouge’s soft face, to tell him that it wasokay, that it was all going to be okay. The lingering feeling under his skinbranded him, and the prince knew this but he had stopped caring the moment hehad realized he was destined for death. If it was going to all end, then whynot go up in flames.
Before Eddie could move Richie snapped out of his trance, his face stone, fire behind his gaze. “I won’t let them hurt you. I swear.”
“Richie, there isn’t anything you can do. Please don’t-“
“I’ll find a way.” He whispered, leaning in closer, washingEddie in his heavenly musk. “I swear on my life that I’ll find a way. Trust inme okay? I know it sounds pointless and mute but just trust me Eddie, I’ll takecare of you.” The prince gulped down the lump in his throat, staring at thedeep auburn eyes of one of his captors he nodded, his body bursting intoflames.
“Okay.”
