i’m about to say something i’m sure a lot of people don’t want to hear, but i truly cannot fathom the hold tommy kinard has on half this fandom. he is more of a cardboard cutout of a character than anything. the majority of the (very little) time he’s been on screen, he’s been more irritable than likable. the closet comment on their first date? sure, let’s say something like that in front of buck’s best friend and potentially out him. tommy of all people should’ve understood that it is a struggle to accept your sexuality. the daddy issues comment?? CRAZY in the context of the situation, and in no way the serve he thought it was. tommy has mentioned he’s jealous of buck twice now, and yet people still don’t see the red flags of it all. not to mention his past of racism and sexism, which most conveniently brush aside. though god forbid, the person who acted like this was a woman. the pitchforks for her character would of been immediate…

it’s crazy to me how hateful some people in the stranger things fandom could be. do they not realize the show is centered around minorities and those that aren’t “normal” ?

Stranger Things, at its core, is a show about people who are "othered" by society. each one of the kids does, in fact, have something that sets them apart from everyone else, except for mike. a straight, middle-class, white boy, is very much the 1980s american ideal. However, if he is actually queer, this perfectly explains why he is viewed as different to his peers

from what i’ve gathered, byler scenes (at least this season) are all from will’s pov. notice how there’s no mention of the double take in the script?

this is because will himself hadn’t seen it. he had already looked away. the “thanks, I needed that” line appears to be will’s interpretation of mike’s reactions, not mike’s inner dialogue. mike’s pov is hidden for a reason.

isn’t it strange that steve can like and hit on nancy even though she’s in a relationship, but regardless, the general audience is still rooting for him? though when it comes to will, he’s a “home wrecker” for simply liking mike, even when he did nothing but help mike and eleven’s relationship

I think one of the things that really off-puts me about m!leven is the fact that they have nothing binding them except trauma and convenience. we’re never shown that they have anything in common. what do they do together besides make out? where are their deep conversations? honesty? if we’re really supposed to be rooting for them, why do they write mike and his totally platonic bff as having all the qualities they lack?

cindy berman is a great example as to how characters such as mike wheeler could very well be gay even though they’re in hetero relationships
