Partnach Gorge
So pretty it was worth waking up at 6am, nearly freezing my bum off and slipping on some ice (I'm ok)

Time to climb that mountain
Climbing Zugspitze (but not manually). We woke up at 6am to beat any crowds to get up Zugspitze Mountain - the highest peak in Germany.
Our first mode of transport was a cogwheel train, which was pulled up the mountain with a gear rack and pinion. Even though we went quite early, half way through, we were joined by a large group of very very noisy ski kids and their equally noisy chaperones. They just could not stop yelling to talk to each other even though it was like 7am.
A very important thing to add was at the end of the cable car was a cafeteria that also sold hot drinks and we all had a bad time. I tried a different kind of tea and it was very bitter and not nice. Bear put too much milk in her tea, and lele overfilled their cup. Very important. Very dissappinting.
Next was the lift/cable car to the summit. Unfortunately it was too dark/cloudy to see anything out of the lift, but a good time was still had.
Deets about the summit will be in the next post.
Once we sufficiently had had our fun at the summit, we took another cable car down to Lake Eibsee.
The clouds cleared up a bit as we were lower down on the mountain, and we were able to get some stunning views. Someone (disgusting - derogative) was playing BTS/Coldplay's my universe out loud but I suspect it was the cable car operator.
More about Eibsee in another post.
Hi Dad, love you and I'm doing well ❤️

Zugspitze Summit - so so cold
Snow! Finally, after two or so weeks of *winter* in Europe, we finally got to see falling snow and play with it!
As we were coming up, and snow had just lightly begun to fall, we could see a delicate sprinkling of snow on the trees and it looked just like icing sugar!
We got to make snow angels, and the snow bear you have already seen.

They said I was the size of a mountain. I didn't think they meant it literally

Um, gingerbread cookie was super hard (nearly broke my teeth) and not very flavourful....
Glühwein (blueberry mulled wine spiked with amaretto) was delicious and I stole the mug 😳 (for €3)
Nuremberg
Idk why the smoked salmon burger (very salty but kind of in a good way) picture is so blurry...
Artistictness :)

Today's version of: I look at work while on my vacation
Deutsche bahn Railway Museum
So many questions. So much big.
What the heck is this???
My guess is that it's used to align the railway tracks within a consistent gauge, as they build it.
Why are there 5 sets of railway tracks in the tunnel? I don't think the trains use the entire height, as the back entrance hasn't been built to be large enough. But what are the other tracks used for? The top track has a much larger gauge that the other four...
These rails are so tiny!! Usually now they are like, double the size! Bearica's hand for comparison. Idk how many of you pay attention to my hand size, but it's the same size as hers. Our hands are tiny but the point remains.
Why is this coal rig(?)/operation thingy (?) so tall? I would expect that the taller the rig, the more expensive the cost.
What is this massive ditch below the train? There was some other kind of cart/rolling stock going the opposite direction but I don't understand how they connect.
Pretty pictures in next post.
Hi Dad, I'm doing well mwamwa
