Los Vascos | 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
Los Vascos is a producer that I’ve had great interest in and didn’t get around to acquiring bottles until this very week. Los Vascos is owned and operated by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, or better known as ‘Château Lafite Rothschild,’ one of the world’s most sought after bottles of Bordeaux.
Although under the same owner/operator, Los Vascos is crafted under the leadership of Marcelo Gallardo. Upon first opening his 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon it did not drink like a Chilean red but a young, very young bordeaux. The sweet notes were hidden deep on the back, while earthy, funky notes remain prominent. I’m told to drink this stuff now, but I’m curious how it would do if I did let it sit. The synthetic cork, nor the $10.99 retail price is not reassuring, but that’s the fun in wine.
We’ll see.

Couly-Dutheil | N.V. Brut de Franc
From the Loire Valley of France hails Couly-Dutheil’s Brut de Franc, a sparkling wine made with Cabernet Franc grapes. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit. Grapefruit, green apple, lemon rind, river rock, and a touch of cream. Should be excellent with oysters on the half shell. Fun cheap bottle of sparkling wine.
Also - note the Perlage system in the background. More to come!
