Worse than Elon.
CEO of a less popular website. Treats trans women so poorly that he's direct messaging them and is threatening violent actions and calling law enforcement when all a friend of mine wants is... To have her transition timeline online in a spot she felt she could be seen and connect to people. Utter rancid dogshit of a human being. Petty. Pathetic. Spineless. All this when there has been fire under his ass for this behavior before. Erasing years of pictures and art and a whole person from her online life is sickening.

Incredibly intelligent maneuver by tumblr ceo to make a post that boils down to “if you want to deserve staff looking into preventing your months of harassment as well as explaining why your accounts keep getting scorched-earth deleted when you’ve made a point to follow TOS, you have to avoid hurting OUR special feelings or we’ll call the FBI on you. This is totally not transphobic despite only happening to trans women btw” and then delete the same trans woman’s account again. Excellent work sire you’ve reached new depths of spinelessness and ineptitude

Getting a letter in the mail that says “I hope a piano falls on you like in looney tunes” and I start wailing and ripping my hair out then put a RETURN TO SENDER stamp on the letter and hand it to a procession of fully armed military operatives <- this is making fun of the tumblr ceo who banned a trans woman upset about her prolonged untreated harassment and said he would call the fbi on her because she made a post wishing he’d get hit with hammers

“Imagine what it would look like if ChatGPT were a lossless algorithm. If that were the case, it would always answer questions by providing a verbatim quote from a relevant Web page. We would probably regard the software as only a slight improvement over a conventional search engine, and be less impressed by it. The fact that ChatGPT rephrases material from the Web instead of quoting it word for word makes it seem like a student expressing ideas in her own words, rather than simply regurgitating what she’s read; it creates the illusion that ChatGPT understands the material. In human students, rote memorization isn’t an indicator of genuine learning, so ChatGPT’s inability to produce exact quotes from Web pages is precisely what makes us think that it has learned something. When we’re dealing with sequences of words, lossy compression looks smarter than lossless compression.”
— Ted Chiang’s essay about ChatGPT is required reading

On February 8th, this nonbinary child was violently beaten by three cis girls. The school did not call them an ambulance after the beating was stopped, and they later died in the hospital from head trauma. They have also been deadnamed and misgendered in their obituary and in the news. As the author of the article puts it:
How is that not national news? A 16 year old beaten to death in a public school bathroom? By other students. All these unanswered seemingly obvious questions about what transpired, and how the adults involved acted. That should be every headline. In fact, almost every local outlet covering the story misgender and deadnames Nex, using their same assigned at birth. The indignities pile on. We don’t yet know if Nex’s nonbinary identity is directly tied to this incident. But, my God, it sure matters to me that this would happen to any child. A nonbinary kid assaulted in a girl’s bathroom. That outcome from the narrative of anti-trans rhetoric these past years. Still why wasn’t this story breaking news? It involves a nonbinary student in a public school. And school violence and school police resource officers. It involves the deep fear so many trans youth have shared with me about their schools.

Autistic spaces are getting so much more hostile towards people with low empathy, and it sucks
There was a subreddit I really liked, people were chill, and then there was a sudden influx of people making posts like ‘Autistic people have empathy! Saying we don’t makes us seem like monsters! Thats not a symptom!’ And people making posts explaining that no, actually, some of us do have low empathy got attacked and told they were wrong or ableist? And it sucks, because its just so hard to find a place to exist where you can be seen as not evil? I don’t know, it just hurts a lot to be told that
