if disheveled hair and loosened tie was any indication of what it was like on campus while students checked in for their spring semester, then he would be the walking epitome of an exhausted professor. not even bother going back to his apartment to change or drop off his briefcase, he went straight for the rooftop lounge for a nice drink. "old fashioned, please."
at the comment from the person beside him, he chuckled. "how can you tell? 20-somethings are brutal and awkward all at the same time." victor was almost thankful to not have any kids.
OPEN STARTER | @ wisteria, rooftop lounge
nami sits with a huff, drink in hand. “ god, i need a break, ” she mutters, then looks up at the sound of footsteps. “ oh, hi, ” they say, taking in the new arrival’s appearance with the keen eye of an artist. “ had a rough day ? ”

someone told victor to venture out for new year's eve rather than sit at home by himself to watch the ball drop, and how he ended up at a club felt like he was on autopilot. but he was always enthusiastic to try new adventures.
he'd been to the red circle for a couple dates a few years ago but hadn't visited since he moved to wisteria. he looked up, wide-eyed at the compliment, rosy color coming to his cheeks. "ah jeez, well — it was either this or watching ryan seacrest on my tv for three hours. can't imagine your patience on a night like this though." he chuckled. "i'll, uh, get an old fashioned."
OPEN TO ANYONE LOCATION & TIME : the red circle on new years eve around 11 pm
the club was packed for new years , but then again it almost always was , she’d barely had time to look up from the well let alone take a second to speak . as she handed off the last drink she turned her attention to them . “ what’s up gorgeous , didn’t think i’d see you here today . ” a natural flirt she leaned across the counter arms folding one over the other , “ what can i get you ? ”

"i mean, i listened to an npr podcast that explains sitting in a car lessens our social interaction, making us even more depressed than we already are." the habit of listening to npr was inherited from his father. and when he spent the time in the car instead of sitting and reading a good book, an actual educational podcasts were the next best thing. "i almost think that time is a small price to pay for a good conversation with a stranger."

"i drive a 2004 Infinity G35. the most i could get out of that is five thousand, at the most." the consciousness of the environmental implications of sitting in a car for hours on end bothered victor more than anything but he couldn't imagine shelling out the cash for a full electric vehicle. not that it was an issue. "who would buy it anyway?"

victor waved his hand, aiming for the surgeon to not mistake it for surrender, but to ask that, please — oh please, let him catch a breath! with his hands on his knees and nose toward the tennis turf, the professor wondered why the hell he decided after over three years of living at wisteria to finally utilize the tennis court. "It was all very well to be ambitious, but ambition should not kill the nice qualities in you. Noel Streatfield."
Finally regaining his breath, he straightened up. "Admittedly, it has been some time since I've done any kind of strenuous exercise." As he liked spending his free time tending to his garden or reading a book. "My parents are avid players, though."
who : open to all ! location: apartment building tennis court !
days off rare thing for a neurosurgeon and while he by no means spends all of his week working, it’s still a profession that takes a good chunk of his time. which only makes the doctor appreciate the limited personal time he has even more and that mean he plans to take full advantage of it. unless it’s a particularly exhausting week or day, rhys doesn’t spend it cooped in his apartment either since he is already surrounded by walls in the hospital. he’s spent six years in wisteria, his first thought is always to take full advantage of the tennis court his building provides, and in those years he consistently plays and practices, which is certainly paying off. he smirks at his opponent, posture straight as his companion isn’t able to toss the tennis ball to him. “don’t pout, you keep practicing as long as i have and maybe you will beat me.”

"I was initially thinking about going full-bike, but then realized in LA that's almost impossible." Victor stroked his mustache then took another sip of his lukewarm, black coffee. "Thought about only taking public transportation, too, as it gives more opportunity to relax on a commute. But what would I do with my car?"

Victor grew up in your average middle class American household -- watched football on Sundays, family dinners every night, a mother and father that didn't express much affection but didn't outright despise one another. He did well enough in school to get accepted into Dartmouth. He majored in Literary Theory & Criticism and got his masters in Latin.
Along the way, he met his first wife, Angela. They met his freshman year got married right after undergrad. Just a short six years later, after finding out about Angela's years of infidelity, he filed for divorce. While he tells others it was an amicable separation, that couldn't have been farther from the truth. Angela got the house, and half of his savings. Victor moved to from Boston, MA to Los Angeles in 2004, shortly after his divorce to get a fresh start.
He started teaching at the local university, sharing his love of the classics with young, open-minded students. Since his divorce, he hadn't dated seriously.
Victor bought a cute little cottage on the outskirts of LA when he moved but found since he wasn't in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, that it was quite lonely. In 2019, he sold his house and moved to Wisteria, where he could meet like minded people.
