Working as an OJT at Commission on Election Olongapo
One of the most awaited part of being a college student is the On th Job Training also known as OJT. As far as I believe, a student cannot be graduated with their chosen course without undergoing the OJT. The interesting part of this is learning a bunch of lessons not just in our course but also in real life situations. Of course we are all expecting for something new to be learned in my OJT experience, I learned about privacy and integrity. I remembered a quote and it says “What you see and what you hear, when you leave, leave it here”. So in relation to my OJT Experience the company isn’t perfect. Of course it has some confidential issues but I chose to keep quiet and never bring it out because I know something might be affected or in other words, it is not even helpful at all to spread it out.
Another thing is, not just because you graduated in a particular course, it doesn’t mean that you have to find a job that only covers what you want and what you know. Sometimes you need to learn something new based on the needs of the job you took, but the skills is not the only thing you need to work with. The number one asset that you need to have is a good character. Skills are not enough to build yourself because you are going to work with different people that’s why you have to know how to treat them right to develop a good relationship.
In a short period of my OJT I met the Olongapo COMELEC Employees. Ms. Mary Ann Salinas, she is our main supervisor. All of our task are coming from her. She is very polite and approachable. One of my mentor furing my time in the site was Ms. Wilma Dilodilo who was very supportive at all time.Mr. Alvin Garcia, Mr. Christian Rota, Ms. Jane, Ms. Bele, Ms. Mary Ann were also the staffs who randomly gave task in my training.
Atty. Marvyn Gaerlan was not just a boss in the office, he also interacts with employees and even us OJT Trainees if he has time to spare, he gathered us in one place and start sharing gospels and pray for each of us, which is so unusual event in most of the office. You can’t even tell that he was a lawyer because of his humbleness. He just told us to have fun and learn what we are doing. He also gave tips and life lessons, which we can take to adulthood. That’s why he keept on saying “The best way to learn is to teach”. Those experiences with high-profiled people that I also wanted to be in the near future and never be forgotten.
Two hundred hours of duty was long enough to learned a lot of things in IT field. In my OJT experience, being computer literate is an advantage because most of our task requires knowledge about Microsoft Office software. I observed that they often used Microsoft Excel in doing office documents. Creating power point presentation and manipulating an application, system and programs were commonly used in the office. They asked us to make a welcome banner for the Commissioner and create a mockup and wireframe for the document tracking system documentation.
As I look back from the time of my duty in my OJT, I can recall some problems that I have encountered during those days. Most of them were just minor problems and some were not but the staffs was automatically took care of it. One of the minor problems that I have encountered was the malfunction of the printer. What I did is just turned it off first and pulled the cartridge to remove the jammed paper . After that, I gave a second look just to check if there are still problem in the printer. Then I turned it on for the second time, and it works.
Most of the lessons I have learned there was very common because it wasn’t the first time. But of course I was expecting something new to be learned from them. In my OJT experience, they treated us like we belong to them and never felt that we're different from them at our young age. Having time frame was very important in every aspect, it helps me to submit and devote myself in a smart way when it comes to my job. Self-discipline is more efficient in all the things you need to be done. Just enjoy and love what you are doing and whatever job you will have, be the best that you can be.

How people/teens use media, information and technology. 💻📶
Nowadays people constantly uses technologies. It is a modern way to communicate with others, be updated in news, playing a app, and etc. Using technologies make our life easy, what we want to know are all stated in the internet. But not everything in social medias are truth. It must be some gossips and other information that are not valid and reliable. Most teenagers are active in social medias like facebook, twitter, and instagram. They uses this medias for entertainment and source of information. As a senior high student, I used google for study purposes and searches other activity in this sites. This was a big help for my homework, but when you gathered a data/information through internet make sure that are valid and reliable and also ALWAYS copy the URL of the main site where you get the information you have through media. So that you will not accuse as plagiarism.
