The first production of first years!
Getting to know characters through doodles
I'm currently manifesting a visual novel game in a high school setting and these are some of the first years! The designs shown are not final and are subject to change, but the basic idea is there. I want to introduce them but I don't even know if their names are final either.
This is from the fifth of June asdfghjkl I need to stop hoarding stuff in my drafts.

This is so bad. . I'm currently at a point in preproduction where I just need to finalize character designs, but like I wanted to document the progress and it's not being documented. (Who's fault is that?)
The setting for the visual novel is in a small town with a high school student protagonist. I was hoping to make a slice-of-life genre of a visual novel but I'm worried that there isn't an audience for it. Not that it's an issue but it would be nice if it was liked. I have it planned where the visual novel is biased around a whole school year, yet I wonder if such a large time frame is realistic for someone with one game to their name. i can already imagine the dialog... I need to update the game document from google docs.
I've been thinking about this for two months, and I'm now wondering if I should just make another small game.

Diligent Blog # 9.1
Why is this 9.1 instead of 10? I haven't been feeling the best, so I'm unsure if the quality is good enough to be the last of diligent blog.
I've been studying C++ a bit more. It's been a few months since I've last studied so I failed when I did the quiz for lesson 2. I am excited for future lessons though. Really looking forward to knowing what a bool is and finally knowing what void means in lesson 4. Next lesson is about debugging, but it shouldn't take too long... sigh
I've just been cooped up in my room and it's not fun. I should just move my bed next to my PC. Maybe then I'll get something done.
I hope I have something more to say in the last diligent blog.
*learncpp.com is the website!!!

Diligent Blog # 9
I decided that the topic for today's blog is cartoons! I watched a lot of old cartoons when I was younger, some of them were from the 30's! Here is a list of cartoons that I remember watching, including shorts, movies, and series:
*this list is totally for me to reminiscence, and does not include everything. these are comprised of cartoons from DVDs and VHS tapes I had.
I Like
Scooby Doo - Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969 - 1970) - Scooby Doo Goes Hollywood (1979) - Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost (1999) - Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000)
Pokemon - Pokemon early seasons with misty and brock - Pokemon: The First Movie (1998) - Pokemon: The Movie 2000 (1999) Tom and Jerry - Hanna-Barbera ver (1940-1958) the classic - Chuck Jones ver (1963-1967) different from the classic and not as funny, but cute and still fun to watch Disney/Mickey Mouse - Disney Sing-Along Songs: Fun With Music (1989) - Trick or Treat (1952) - The Band Concert (1935) - Mickey's Trailer (1938) - Mickey's Delayed Date (1947) Looney Tunes (1930-1969) - not everything but also there's too many shorts to list Pink Panther - The Pink Phink (1964) - The Pink Panther Show (1969) The Dover Boys at Pimento University (1942)
I'm Fond Of
Popeye - 1950's cartoons, seems like it's hard to find much online Betty Boop - Poor Cinderella (1934) Somewhere in Dreamland (1936) Hawaiian Birds (1936) Mighty Birds: Wolf! Wolf! (1942) I Love to Singa (1936) Cobweb Hotel (1936)
Um These I Remember Watching But Not Liking (then or now)
Hunky and Spunky (1939) Tom Thumb (1936) Simple Simpleton (1935) Balloon Land (1935) The Three Bears (1935) Little Boy Blue (1936) Sinbad the Sailor (1935) The Headless Horseman (1934) - they showed this during reading time in elementary for Halloween
Why
Les Escargots (1966) - I showed this to someone and they thought it was funny but it's weirdly disturbing, almost scary if you have a weak stomach. totally something a 5 year old shouldn't watch.

trying to figure out if the song you made on the ipad sounds good or not
Diligent Blog # 8
I haven't been at my computer as often as i would want to, but I will continue to at least reach ten word vomit posts dedicated to the diligent blog, no matter what!
Above is something that won't used for anything. It was made for the visual novel I'm working on but the classical tone doesn't match the intended vibe for the game. It's a really short song. Less than a minute. I wanted to extend it more, but unfortunately, song structure is something I struggle with. That, rhythm and build up of instruments..? the whole of a song? I'm not sure of the term or phrase. I guess I get stuck after creating a melody so I wanted to practice those with this song.
The idea for this was a morning track. I wanted to create a feel good morning track for the player when a new day has started. That was the premise, but as I went on, I thought that it was becoming into something that could not be looped. I want to have nice loops for my games (irrational).
Diligent blog is hard.

Hi hi, I have finished the story bible. I ended with all the characters I believe are important. I don't know what else to write here. I guess no matter which direction I'll take, I will work hard ;;;

It's been four days since I wrote for diligent blog. Diligent blog not really dilligenting.
The story bible is coming along. I haven't worked on it for the past four days either. I haven't really been at the computer. Right now I am working on the characters, describing them, their journey in the story; then I'll summarize a plot and figure out the story's "main attraction" I guess, cause I don't know what the word is - that will keep people interested enough to continue playing. I thought I had finished the setting of the world but I think I'll go back to that. Not much to say about this other than I hope it's fun. I'll probably also stop calling this diligent blog after the tenth one lol

Diligent Blog # 4
I think I'm failing the diligent blog... Anyway, I have been working on an idea for a visual novel type game for about a month. Right now its just plot and characters. I haven't tried to do anything within a game engine yet. I am also trying to make music at the same time. I'm.. in the learning stages. I found out that I really suck at two things: rhythm and arrangement/structure. I make a decent 8 bar melody with chords and then I'm like what's next.
I got distracted um I like I tried to fold two sticky notes to lay them underneath my keyboard wrist rest cause I am lazy and I want it higher so I put them down under the wrist rest, right, but it didn't feel right. And my wrist rest is just a simple black slab of thin cushion with a downward slope towards me and like this slab worked really well with my last keyboard but the one I have now has a higher base and don't get me wrong I love this keyboard. It is pink, it is gradient, it is beautiful and sounds beautiful, but I am a lazy short fingered bum that doesn't want to put in the effort to raise my wrists to type. I understand its not ergonomic and that I also could just buy a new, flat and tall wrist rest, but again, I am just too damn lazy.
Jumping back to the original topic, I want to stir up a story bible. After that, I might play around with Godot and the Dialogue Manager plugin. See if what I want is possible with my level of skills and if I have to change the plug in, or game engine. Hope not.

Here's some music from my childhood! These are from forms of media that have a OST or soundtrack that I think is a good listen. When writing this, I started off listing music that I liked with no criteria, and it got too long for my liking. So, this list only includes stuff from 10 or more years that I watched/played.
There's probably more.. but I don't remember them right now.
Anime/Animation
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - I think I enjoyed every soundtrack, but I know that the english theme song slaps. I don't care what anyone says, the voice actors and soundtracks created for english dub is iconic. Joey Wheeler is iconic. Everyone in this children's show about a card game is iconic. Even Tristan.
Barbie - Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper, Barbie and the Diamond Castle. nostalgic, screams to my girly soul. Lots of fond memories with them.
Kung Fu Panda - The first movie.
Pokemon The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back (1999) - The American version. I don't know enough about music theory, but the leitmotif((s)?)) used for this movie? Perfection.
Dramas
My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho - this is a korean drama from 2010. It made me very happy when the OST was finally available on spotify.
Iljimae (2008) - a historical korean drama. It is, to this day, a drama I highly favor. The soundtrack created for it is beautiful and is used so well with the scenes from the drama. It is probably a huge factor on why I enjoyed it so much.
You're Beautiful (2009) - unrelated but I had a childish crush on one of the characters, Jeremy. Which in turn lead me to have a crush on the actor, Lee Hong Ki. He is the lead vocalist for the band F.T. Island.
Artists/Musicians/Bands
Vocaloid Producers - wowka, ryo, hachi (Kenshi Yonezu), DECO*27, Neru , there are songs from other producers but they are the most memorable ones to me. I don't follow vocaloid anymore, though I still like to revisit the older songs.
K-Pop 2nd Generation to Early 3rd Generation- 2NE1, Girls Generation (SNSD), TEEN TOP, SHINee, Wonder Girls, Brown Eyed Girls, these are only a few mentions. Second generation of kpop is from 2005 to like 2011. The times back then for K-pop were a little more... vibrant if I remember it right. Experimental, eccentric and stark eye liner, but with matching iconic songs. The ones I can recommend off the top of my head are 'I Got A Boy' from Girls Generation. That one is fun. I heard someone describe it to be similar to Bohemian Rhapsody with it's organized chaos. SHINee 'Replay' and- y'know what here: Old Legendary Kpop Songs.
Games
Persona 4 - I started with Persona 4 with a game play video on Youtube. I remember downloading my favorite soundtracks (shout out to Youtube To MP3) to listen to on my way to school when I finally owned a phone like 3 years later. Can you believe I haven't played the game itself until last year?
Super Mario Bros Melee - The only 3-ish consoles I ever had when I was young were the game cube, Wii and the 3ds. I am listing this one because unfortunately, I never got to play any of the independent games that the soundtracks were from even though I heavily enjoyed them.
Sonic Heroes - The sound effects along with the stage themes really scratched an itch somewhere in my brain. I never got to finish it though. I didn't have that save thing for the game cube so I played every game the furthest I could until it powered off. That means I never got to unlock all the characters for melee.
Super Mario Galaxy - I finished this one! What I said for this is short but the soundtrack is wonderful.
Wii Sports - There's nothing to explain here.
Team Fortress 2 - why is this here, more importantly, why is there 3 versions of My Gun

I want to get into the habit of working diligently so hopefully blogging will help out with that. I actually have a poor habit attention span, like this brain wants to clock out 5 times into it's 30 minute shift. Useless tool I say. So this is the start of the diligent blog! I don't know what I'll blog about. Maybe whatever I find interesting..?
Hopefully I can become well spoken and comprehensible. . .
