today was difficult to go through

it’s not like i cried or anything, but i’ve been constantly sour just remembering what just happened to our country

for all the obvious reasons, i am upset. but the largest reason is probably because i feel that the minimal, yet important progress that has been made in the united states of america so far was for nothing.

it’s so, so, so negative and a bit stupid for me to think that everything has been in vain, but it’s what my brain wants to believe, at least for right now

personally, i’ve involved myself deeply in political/social/economic issues over the past few years. especially when bernie was still in the running, i was so ecstatically proud of what i stood for, and what the people/millennials around me also stood for

and now i just feel defeated

eventually, the people will learn to cope with this and move on bc time isn’t going to stop. we’re going to keep living, even if donald trump is commander-in-chief. but for today, tonight, and probably for the next few weeks, this heavy feeling of defeat will still weigh on the shoulders of millions

for the longest time my sister’s excuse for pretty much acting like a child is “everyone thinks you’re the older one because you don’t smile as much as i do”

and it’s not like i ever believed that lmao but i never said anything to her face (bc nothing can destroy her fuckin ego)

i was thinking about this bc the other day i met up with the mom of the kid i tutor, who also happens to be my sister’s boss at her job. we were just talking and, paraphrasing, she tells me she thinks quyen has a very questionable character and that i definitely seem more mature and professional. even her youngest 5th grade daughter (who has met both me and my sister) has asked if i was older bc i seem more like an “adult”

it’s hilarious, but also unsurprising, how quyen consistently uses such a silly, elementary excuse for her attitude. she’s currently blasting shitty edm again in her room and locking herself away and yelling at anybody who dare disturb her.

point is, it wasn’t validation that i heard from the mom saying all that to me, bc i already know myself who’s the mature one. it was simply pleasant to hear it verbally from a professional viewpoint (rather than hearing my parents/family/boyfriend say it lol).

it’s nice to be appreciated (?? right word??) after 20 years listening to quyen brag about herself. i just hope someone says this to her face someday and she’ll actually hold back her pride and listen
