She sits with Maeve’s words for a bit, silently mulling them over. She thinks of all the difficulty that they’d face trying to disappear sufficiently enough to truly remove and get far enough away their respective shackles. Despite the task appearing more and more herculean the longer she considers the particulars...she cannot shake how worth it the reward would be.

what   she   wants   is   such   a   foreign   concept   that   she   doesn’t   know   how   to   answer   that.      WANT   is   so   much   further   out   of   reach   than   the   fight-or-flight   response   riling   itself   up   to   full   bore      &      screaming   against   her   adrenal   glands.

She’d be lying if she said having the use of Maeve’s real name so harshly revoke doesn’t sting, but she doesn’t let it show or put up any protest. The juxtaposition between attempting to keep things ‘professional’ in such a moment of vulnerability is somewhat jarring, but she does her best to keep up. The declaration of exhaustion further complicates things, but Liliya can’t help but empathize. “As am I...I guess so much so that I...forgot what it was like to dream of better. You’re not wrong to want it, but I don’t know how either of us would ever get it.“

the most beautiful words she’s ever spoken, said so blithely among the ruckus of a drinking establishment. the rey of months ago that had still been willfully stranded on jakku would hardly have believed her ears.

There’s an earnestness to the question that Liliya doesn’t expect; a sincere curiosity unburdened with ulterior motive. Such a rarity only proves to make the younger woman all the more out of place in a den of unsavoryness. Then again, such naivety  does seem precisely the kind Ohnaka would seek to utilize. “We all do, kid. Nobody ends up here without one. Of the two of us, however, I’d wager yours would be the stand out.”

They could free themselves from the hamster wheels they’ve been stuck inside for so long. She hesitates to stop, though, as she doesn’t even know who she’ll be once she stops running. “That certainly would be something.”
