i could not tell you how the conversation started but me and @ghospectr started going insane about iterators but with antlers (or ram horns in sigs case) so like. yeah. deer iterators.

anyway random rambles about these: i gave sig ram horns because i like them not having antennae. bald <3.

pebbles has the smallest antlers because hes a little baby but also they get even smaller after he gets the rot/blows up suns' overseer because he ends up scratching up his chamber walls in his rage/despair which also ends up wearing his antlers down a lot.

one of moons antlers is damaged from her collapsing.

the slugcats will often ride on moon or suns' antlers like they do with rain deer.

i drew suns' antlers bigger than intended in this drawing but i imagine that because shes the group senior, moon would have the largest antlers!

sig and pebbles cant actually spar with their antlers/horns bc too small so they settle for headbutting and little sibling tactics of Kick Shit Rapidly And Repeatedly

the coloured tips on their horns 100% glow in the dark and was also inspired by the like, neon bar lights that you can see inside of pebbles and moons structures

your design notes for the iterators are really well done and thought out and the additional emphasis on shape communication in character design is weirdly underappreciated also the fact that Sig only reaches to Moon's chin is so cute god he NEEDS to cuddle with that big round lady

Thank you! I'm glad to see people appreciating the effort I put into that, especially when I still have yet to explain what the designs all symbolize! But underappreciated? Where, and in what way? From what I've seen, general shape language seems to be a pretty common idea in character design, and I find it's the smaller details like line rhythms, weight distribution, and proportions that aren't given as much emphasis.

And on that last part, man, I actually just realized that height difference when you mentioned that! Ever since the tags of this post I've always adored the idea of Moon being noticeably taller and bigger than Sig — especially since it's kinda opposite of how I imagine their dynamic of her being the softer, more polite one while he's carefree, yet stronger and more protective — and I've had my idea of their measured height in my mind for a while, but I guess the visual height difference never sunk in until now. Even so, I still love it!

But anyway, you ordered some Lilypad cuddles to go along with the height difference, right? Well, here you go!

Thanks for the idea too! I really haven't drawn these two in actual months and I feel like they're really overdue for some love, so hopefully I'll be posting more content of them soon!

Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.
