This mix shines light on the immense talent the UK has to offer when it comes to Soul & R&B. Similarly newer artists such as Miraa May & Airborn Gav along with Jevon and Eliza are shaping the future sounds of UK R&B, by infusing more contemporary styles into their sound. More avant-garde offerings are emerging from London, with artists like Bakar & Oscar Jerome, who draw from many sources of inspiration, are defying categorisation. Collard sounds like an early Frank Ocean, Dornik is reminiscent of MJ & Etta Bond easily holds her own with TDE’s Sir. UK Soul & R&B is on par with it’s US counterpart, it just doesn’t get the same push. VBO is here to shine the light.
