Biography
Edu Verdú was born in Barcelona in 1986 from a Franco-Spanish family. Self-taught musician and lyricist, his fate was sealed the day the wreck of an old 3-string guitar fell upon his child hands.
After forming several garage bands during his teens, he ended up joining The Walkers as their guitarist and composer. The band didn't walk so much, but they somehow managed to record an LP produced by the Grammy-awarded producer Doug Boehm: It's What They Sell You (2013).
In between walkers' stumbles he moved to London, where he took his first steps as a singer-songwriter, busking on the streets and performing in several venues of East-London (Old Blue Last, The Blues Kitchen, 333 Mother Bar, Passing Clouds). The songs he wrote during that 2-year stay were recorded in his first EP as a solo artist: Caravan to Nowhere (2014).
Back in his hometown – and out of nostalgy for good old guitar riffs, he gathered a power trio under the name of Sharman Den, cajoled the producer Alberto Pérez (Sol de Sants Studios, Furious Sessions) and recorded the EP Low Hombre (2016), a 5-track live compendium of elusive Rock’n’Roll. The band kicked off quickly, and after trotting about the main venues of the local scene (Luz de Gas, Barts Club, Sidecar, Apolo, Antiga Fàbrica Damm), Sharman Den won the 4th Edition of the Bala Perduda national band contest, earning a slot in the Primavera Sound Festival 2017.
The jamming vibe of Sharman Den and the quality of its musicians was wonderful for live performance, but he felt the need to give his compositions a more personal touch. That’s how he decided to undertake his new album solo again, writing, composing and arranging every note. The result is the upcoming 9-track album Collective Wheel (2020).
