I’m dying. This is so true. I had to shower in a different bathroom at home just last night. There’s old spice body wash in there from my brother. The body wash I thought was in there ran out and I figured what the hell? I’ll just smell like a dude, I’m too lazy to go get my soap. The scent is bearglove. What the hell is bearglove?! And since when do bears wear gloves??

crying because an elf prince, dwarf lord and a fucking king of men dropped everything and ran over 100 miles with barely any rest, to rescue a couple of halflings (who were worth nothing outside the shire, and functionally little more than a burden) because they were their friends.
screaming and throwing up because the golden boy of gondor, the steward's eldest son and his pride and joy; noble heir of the house of húrin, sacrificed his life for those self-same halflings

This. How Gen thoroughly TERRIFIES the magus despite his small stature. And then reading later in the sequels when Ornon is talking about how he has seen grown ass men stop dead in their tracks at the sight of a ten year old Eugenides staring them down. 😮💨 magus didn’t know what storm was coming his way.
the way Gen's persona slips when the magus assumes he's been stealing food and tries to beat him for it is so well-executed. on first read you assume the magus and Pol are so alarmed because they didn't think him capable of putting up that kind of fight. on rereading you realize it's because they've just seen him become a completely different person.
