✧ arcane women - childhood headcanons ✧

note: got a little emotional while writing this but what can i do. missing arcane like a mf. everything is sfw obv, cts of pictures used to their respective owners on pinterest. characters: vi, jinx, caitlyn, mel, sevika.

⟢ vi.

vander always listened to old rock songs. it was the same 4 ones on repeat, one of them being “god of thunder” by kiss. he’d exaggerate his singing just to make her laugh, and it always worked, until she learnt the lyrics as well: blowing, together, felicia’s eardrums.

felicia understood vi liked girls when she was 5 yo. how? simply because the little menace vi was, would suddenly go quiet, shy and a little red even, when met by a girl she thought was cute. she would talk quietly and try to befriend them by timidly sharing her toys, just to go to her mom later on and tell her how pretty her new friend was.

she always included powder when she went to play with other kids. little pow was always the youngest and sometimes the other kids would be mean to her, because she didn’t understand games rules and couldn’t play well. however that’d happen only once, because vi wouldn’t allow it a second time.

⟢ jinx.

used to get sick so easily. always with a runny nose, a fever or cough. vander would spend hours cooking recipes for her; and he would always manage to make them taste good and look appetizing, chopping veggies in star or heart shapes, or adding anything that could make it look cute to a child’s eyes. and it worked! she would always eat it.

she was very scared of the dark and struggled to sleep some nights. that’s when vi would tell her bed time stories she’d create on the spot, or sing her their mother’s lullabies, until she’d fall asleep.

when she was learning how to write, she’d exercise writing little love letters for vander and vi. though she would always spell vander wrong, writing it “vinder” because she’d get confused, mixing the two names.

⟢ cait.

she had all kinds of toys, from dolls to mini, plastic shotguns. cassandra absolutely hated the latters, however there was no denying little cait adored playing with them way more than the dolls. she would always annoy her with it when she was working.

she didn’t really have any friends growing up, aside from jayce. she was either studying (yes, she was home schooled) or training her shots with older enforcers. she didn’t mind being alone, but when jayce became her friend she realized how good it was for her. jayce allowed her to vent a lot, about anything.

cassandra was always overprotective of her, mainly showing her tough love and giving her restrictions on basically everything, yet... there were a few times where the two of them had tender moments, like when caitlyn playfully wore her mother’s wedding dress for fun and cassandra actually got so emotional she teared up.

⟢ mel.

always a quiet girl, with her nose buried in her books. historical ones precisely; her mother made her passionate about history, telling her all kinds of fun facts about the places she’d been at, making her curiosity bloom into a desire for knowledge of the past that made her devour hundredths of books during her childhood (and teenage hood).

another passion she had was art. as we’re shown on the show, mel can paint. that’s because she’s always done it since she was a child, one of the many things ambessa wasn’t fond of. nevertheless, her mother’s disapproval never stopped her from continuing her hobby, that is one of the things that make her feel best when doing it. ambessa ended up giving in and actually enjoying her works, finding a way to get one and put it on her chamber’s wall.

had an amazing relationship with her brother kino. both him and her were very similar, interests and personality wise, so it became a habit to find comfort in the other when one was not feeling okay. they always knew which words to use.

⟢ sevika.

she was actually pretty timid as a child. she hated fighting and seeing others fight, which was why she’d always run off when it happened. and, unfortunately, it happened all the time. for that reason, her childhood had been pretty harsh and she suffered a lot because of it.

but there wasn’t only bad times. although she wasn’t close with her father, she got along with her mother just fine. they had lots of loving mother-daughter moments, cooking together and doing each other’s hair. her mother would often compliment her eyes, “you have your father’s eyes, with my face”.

she would always help other kids. the ones she thought were deserving of it of course, helping them when they’d get hurt for a reason or another or simply keeping them company if their parents weren’t around. it’s one of the reasons she’s well known in zaun.

i hurt my own feelings writing about sevika but oh god, there are no freaking canon infos about her past it’s unfair. gosh i love my babies so much. stick around if you’d like more arcane content pretties, i��ve got plenty more in store for ya >:).

Big fan of Jayce and Caitlyn’s sibling relationship. Big fan of the implications regarding how that happened

This man, an only-child, now a young adult, secures a sponsorship outside the academy. His sponsors have a tween daughter who pokes around his lab space. He doesn’t return her, or act mature and responsibly, or even choose to babysit - nothing like any of that, of course not.

No, this 20 year old looks at Cait and goes “yes.. yes I am going to pester her as much as she pesters me… she, the twelve year old, obviously started it”

And again, because it’s insane to me, he’s an only child! Baffling how easily he nailed the older brother role. I know found family sibling relationships aren’t rare but the fact that the age gap didn’t stop them is fascinating. For any sibling dynamic as real as theirs you Know it started with some degree of beef. Jayce had beef with a middle schooler. They’ve been on equal playing fields from day one I love this I love them

jaycecait friendship/siblingism is VERY important to me so here are some headcanons :

1) caitlyn hated being an only child, always bored and wanting somebody to look up to and confide in (especially because she struggled to make friends as a pretty shy kid). so when her parents introduced her to jayce she jumped at the opportunity to have someone older than her that she could look up to as a role model. she would go to his lab and pester him about his research, ask if he needed help studying or if she could quiz him. at first he finds her annoying, but not wanting to be rude since she’s his sponsors’ daughter, but eventully he becomes used to her company (even enjoys it) and gets worried when she doesn’t visit for a while. he realises he quite likes being an older brother figure (since he’s also an only child) and giving her advice, helping her with homework etc. he secretly takes a lot of pride in how much she looks up to him.

2) caitlyn is initially lowkey in awe of jayce. she thinks he’s like the coolest person she’s ever met, and is always wanting to be helpful and is constantly bragging to people that she’s his assistant. but as cait gets older she grows out of this, and very quickly goes from being in awe of him to just making fun of him constantly. she mimics his mannerisms and speech, dresses up as him and does very unflattering impressions (which viktor finds hilarious). jayce starts to get genuinely annoyed by it, because caitlyn knows exactly how to get under his skin, and he starts to tease her too in a very brotherly way. like the ‘not touching can’t get mad!’ kinda teasing, it’s really stupid.

3) to continue with them teasing each other i’m imagining them at a fancy dinner party at the kiramman house, and everyone around them is politely talking meanwhile jayce and caitlyn are sitting at the far end of the table balancing spoons on their noses, flicking stuff at each other, stealing each other’s food etc. cassandra always fixes them a look and they go ‘he/she started it!’ and point fingers. they’re just so sweet i can’t deal anyways

4) jayce was one of the people who helped caitlyn realise she was a lesbian. she was sitting in his office and unloading her tween problems about how all of the girls at her school were obsessed with the boys and how annoying she found it, doing the classic young queer thing of ‘why do girls want boyfriends so much they’re grossss, hanging out with girls is so much better?’. and jayce is like are you not interested in the boys at school? and cait is like ew no. and he’s like have you ever thought you might like girls? and caitlyn is then like… huh, interesting. they then don’t talk about it again until a couple of months later when caitlyn develops a huge crush on one of the girls at her school, and she tells jayce EVERYTHING. she goes to his lab every day and fills him in on all of the drama, like ‘she smiled at me today!’. he listens attentively to all of it.

5) jayce introduces caitlyn to viktor as his sister, which is the first time he has ever referred to her as that. he doesn’t even notice that he did it, but it means so much to caitlyn. she gives him a huge hug before saying goodbye that day which surprises jayce a little. viktor later says something like ‘your sister seems nice’, and jayce is like oh she’s not my sister she’s just the kid of my sponsors. and viktor is like but you introduced her to me as your little sister? this is the moment jayce kinda realises how important caitlyn is to him too, since he’s also an only child who never experienced having a sibling, and he fully accepts his big brother role with caitlyn.

6) viktor also initially doesn’t like cait and thinks she’s disruptive and distracts jayce, but jayce seems to enjoy her company so viktor doesn’t mind. but eventually they both bond over swapping embarrassing jayce stories, and viktor loves explaining their research to her because of how genuinely interested she is by it and they basically just nerd out together. jayce loves how well they get along, as they’re both such important people to him, and sometimes he sits back while they talk and just watches them all proud and giddy (until they gang up and start making fun of him, then he doesn’t like it so much).

7) caitlyn IMMEDIATELY picked up on the jayvik tension. she met viktor literally once and hung out in the lab with them for a bit, and when viktor left the room she immediately says to jayce okay what the hell is going on there? and jayce gets all flustered, and she teases him being like jayce has a cruuuuush!

8) jayce is often on the receiving end of all of caitlyn’s girl troubles, and one time after she got broken up with he came over with comfort food, and they sat and talked for a whole evening just eating and crying and laughing.

9) caitlyn mourned jayce heavily after the war, his loss had a huge effect on her. she lived in denial for a while, not wanting to worry or burden vi, but when going through some of her old things she finds an old picture of them. it’s her as a kid in jayce’s lab, and they’re both grinning at the camera (viktor is taking the photo). she breaks down sobbing when she sees it and vi comes running in. she hugs her and looks at the photo in cait’s hand, realising instantly what was going on. they sit in a crumpled heap on the floor as caitlyn cries and vi strokes her hair, her own tears falling silently. it hits for both of them in that moment : they’d both lost a sibling.

10) caitlyn wrote jayce’s name on her slip of paper.

so this is the little girl they beat & abused for 7 years in prison? vi has never healed from this trauma, we all see jinx & her trauma throughout the show but never fully go in dept with vi’s trauma & everything she suffered during prison. and there’s still people who hate her character just from that in-the-moment lash out anger with powder in s1. & they don’t have a justifiable excuse.
