So I was talking to my friend about the Dandy's World lore, and we shared a bit of ideas on why Dandy wants our tapes so much.

My friend mentioned that tapes can be used to heal toons based on what we see in gameplay. Though that doesn't make them that different from medkits or bandaids, so why would Dandy want them? She suggested that tapes may also have a special property in them that heals toons in a way that usual meds don't. Maybe it reverses them or something?

With this in mind, perhaps the reason why Dandy is so desperate to get our tapes is so that he can use them to temporarily prevent himself from turning twisted. This theory is definitely a stretch, and there are some things ingame that conflict with it, but I thought it would be a fun enough idea to share hehe

Theorizing/HC, possibly semi-canon.

I am absolutely most definitely projecting my trauma onto this guy but im a firm believer that Astro is a victim of Dandy's manipulation and emotional abuse. That and the idea that Astro is a good person who gave Dandy way too many chances, believing that the good Dandy is still somewhere inside him and that maybe if hes just nice and a good friend to him that maybe he will come around. But that good side of Dandy would never show his face again, Dandy took advantage of Astro's kindness to get away with all the evil bullshit he was planning, to get away with all his greed and his power trip.

Astro has experienced the ultimate betrayal due to his naivety. Maybe deep down inside he knew all hope was lost, that Dandy just wasn't a good person anymore, that this wasn't all a bad dream he could wake up from and everything would be fine. There was no waking up from this nightmare. And given the way his character acts, how sad he always is, he had been battling with this for a long time. He was in some sort of denial, he wanted to believe that Dandy was still his good friend and that Vee was wrong about him. That's why he just couldn't let him go, why he kept it a secret.

He thought Dandy would be good again...but now he drowns in guilt, in shame, in sorrow in a neverending nightmare. Is it...all his fault?

okay so sorry for being insane but listen. in the council room, mel and jayce are talking and mel is explaining she has some weird shit going on right? and we get these shots/lines:

so note that we get a wide shot of mel and then come in closer. jayce then says:

AND GUESS WHO FUCKING APPEARS OUT OF NOWHERE IN THE NEXT FUCKING SHOT

AND THEN. JAYCE'S LITTLE FREAKOUT IS TRIGGERED BC HE SEES HIM!!!!!

Since that peak is the only place with a clear sky and a relatively peaceful atmosphere, having the other Jayce appear almost like a statue—rather than grotesque like the monsters or just straight up pulverized like the non-cultists feels important.

It is the most well-kept area in that world—Viktor's most cherished place. He is preserving it in Jayce’s memory, and it almost feels like a grave.

I imagine Viktor never leaves its sight, as there may be nowhere else for him to go. He spends all his days mourning Jayce. HIS Jayce…Oh my god, they make me ill.

All these scenes are in direct relation to a scene with Jayce, or to a scene wherein his absence is the focus of the scene.

Like... you cannot make a part of Jayce's arc in season 1 choosing between politics (personified in his life by Mel) or science (personified in his life by Viktor); make Viktor and Mel be shown to us as complete opposites when it comes to certain matters (Hextech weaponry for example) and show the duality in Jayce's beliefs: then make him have a physical and emotional relationship with Mel as he chooses politics, and then have him ultimately choose science and Viktor;

And then be suprised that people also ship Jayce with Viktor, or at least see the potential of a romantic relationship between them?

Both of these people are extremely important in Jayces life and he loves them both. When you constantly make those parallels within the show (both visual and story-wise), then it is not a weird conclusion of people to think that the romantic relationship he has with Mel is also a possibiliy with Viktor. Its literally just... using what the narrative gives us and seems to imply.

[And, no, supposed asexual Viktor does not mean these glaring parallels are suddenly void of meaning. Its animation: literally every shot is there because someone crafted it to be. You will not bully me to into thinking that i should not look into the visual elements of a show]

This is the moment Viktor understands that he is not alone in this, he is loved and he won't have to do it all on his own, he doesn't have to carry it all on his shoulders, he is enough as he is, the hand grasping his wouldn't be anywhere else, and Jayce would choose him, every time, as he has been choosing him.

He realises here that what they have is something he can have. He sees Jayce here, for the first time. He can quite literally feel the love become the answer, and he dares, against all his doubts, to look at Jayce and see him feel it too.
