I’m sorry the US has the same way of saying ‘well there’s not actually Christian supremacy here, it’s complicated’ as India does with Hindu supremacy. It’s the same nonsense, I know this song and dance too well, I even have the bias: I thought it was insane last time I was in Chennai seeing a Saraswati painting as I got off the plane. You need to understand seeing the cross everywhere and the Ten Commandments posted everywhere is exactly the same thing

there is nothing that makes art inherently revolutionary actually in many occasions art is specifically done to be counter-revolutionary, reactionary, protect the status-quo, push racist or bigoted ideas, etc sometimes with the specific intent of promoting that ideology and sometimes simply because the artists themselves have those politics and that bleeds into the work
art can be a vessel for a message sure but it is a vessel and nothing more, it has no subversive quality by itself, artists are not more special for having a skill or have better politics because they know color theory ALSO people just highly overestimate the impact art has on real life

actually, if you don't know shit about india just don't comment! the use of english as a common language in india is vastly less fraught than privileging one or the other ethnic groups' mother tongue. learning english is seen by many dalit communities as empowering especially since learning sanskrit has long been weaponised. it is a language that ritually and structurally disenfranchises them. the modern hindi register was politically constructed to be separate from urdu by excising persian, ie muslim influence from hindustani and adding more sanskritisation. if a pakistani urdu speaker and an indian hindi speaker actually speak to each other, barring vocabulary choices, they're mostly intelligible to each other. hindi is a language politically constructed to be the face of hindu nationalism. savarkar literally had a hindu hindi hindustan formulation.
english is the language to access an outside world beyond caste. indian english is recognised as its own thing even by most software services, it has its own patterns and rhythms. stop carrying water for hindu fascists by buying into cheap propaganda. they are currently imposing hindi language education on all students. the last time they did this there was rioting. nobody from the usa or britain actually forces us to learn english, and to hold water for local fascisms for the sake of a fake anti imperialism you don't even understand is annoying af.
