I've signed up for FTH 2025! I'll be offering fanfic, either an entirely new work or a remix of an old work (AU, prequel, sequel, alt POV, and so on), for SVSSS or any fandom I've created for before. For me, this covers both my AO3 works (including anything I've used for a fusion AU) and pretty much any fandom that I've blogged about here, posting either fic ideas or meta.

So, if there's some SVSSS fic idea I posted about here years ago but never wrote, or some particular rarepair you're hungry for, here's an opportunity to get me to write it for you! Lol but you can really tell DCMK is wrote by a man.

I was thinking about it last night about how a character that knocks someone unconscious and then strips them wouldn't be treated so lightly in media designed by women due to this being a genuine fear of women experiencing in wrong company, but for a man it's just a moment played for comedy.

It's interesting how different perspectives can change how you view media. I mean, it's presented as something funny and we're told out right that KID only steals and while his methods are unorthodox, he doesn't intend to cause personal harm (not to say he won't hurt you, but it's never personal), but even with that context, if you put yourself into the shoes of one of his victims, you have to wonder if they've ever wondered if that's all that happened. You were assaulted and then stripped by a criminal, it would be horrifying in any other context.

The same can be said with the main romance. In any other context, it would be treated as a thriller with how toxic the relationship is. A girl being lied too and manipulated by the world around her so she stops questioning her suspicious boyfriend and what he's hiding? You'd begin to doubt everyone when you begin to suspect that everyone is in on the secret your not allowed to know for some reason.

I'm a massive fan of horror and thriller content and maybe that's why my mind instantly makes these connections and it probably is reading the story in bad faith in the sense that the author doesn't mean it to come across this way, but then you have to acknowledge that even if it was never the intention these tropes would still be "problematic" and in any other media it would turn what are our good guys into the bad guys.

And that's where it's an issue in DCMK, especially Detective Conan, as it's a crime series where such criminals DO EXIST and are treated incredibly harshly for their actions. It's hard to say "it's just the trope!" when said trope condemns those actions in the next breath for everyone else but the main characters!

The series wants to have its cake and eat it. It's a crime series that also wants to be a comedy. It dives deep into the consequences of toxic relationships while presenting its main couples with the same issues as romantic and healthy. It constantly contradicts itself in that regard.

Well I like it but it’s not very well written. Also it’s a visual mess. The plot doesnt make any sense and the creators suck and its politics oscillate from mildly problematic to frankly baffling. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. However. the character
