american horror story: trump won

Yesterday, I voted for Hillary.

This morning I woke up and cried, scared for my rights and safety as a woman and a member of the LGBTQ community and scared for the rights and safety my fellow Americans who are minorities, LGBTQ, and women. I have been fired, harassed, disowned, threatened, and denied basic human rights for being a lesbian. People lost their lives in order for me and my wife to have the right to marry, and I fear that might be ripped out of my hands as will the livelihood of millions of other Americans. I feel this fear is completely justified.

Tonight when I posted my thoughts and fears on Facebook (very respectfully and eloquently I might add) my little brother, a 17 year old white male in rural America told me to grow up, called me a child, deleted me on Facebook, said that “I find any way to escape reality and that’s how I’ve always lived my life,” told me that I am “uninformed, lazy, and want everything my way.” He continuously used the phrase “you people” throughout his pro-Trump rant, including- “You people are so hypocritical it makes me sick.” He recited the typical Trump MAGA rhetoric.

Today, he got beat up for wearing a Trump shirt to school, and he had the gall to compare that single incident to my 22 years of being told by everyone around me that I am not a normal human being and and that I do not deserve the rights he was given at birth. If that doesn’t sum up the state of the American people right now, I don’t know what does.

THIS is why suicide hotlines are overflowing with calls.

THIS is why Muslim women didn’t wear their hijabs out of their homes today.

THIS is why Mexican American kids born in the US were told by their classmates they’d be deported.

THIS is why people are protesting in the streets.

THIS is not what America was founded for.

I am so tired of seeing “trump is elected, get over it”, “protesting won’t do anything”  like i’m sorry but protesting is a CHOICE, you don’t have to protest if you don’t want to but silencing someone who is negatively affected by this right now is really not an option. They need to show others who feel the same way that they are not alone. You and your privileged ass can stay home.
