Exposure
On Friday, September 27, 2024, I introduced students to BlerdCon-hosted events, starting with an exciting experience called AtAllNight at the Benning Dorothy I. Height Library. This event provided an excellent opportunity for students to connect with different groups and cosplayers, broadening their exposure to various communities within the Blerd culture. One of the highlights was the participation of The New Blerd Order, a highly requested organization, which played a key role in engaging with attendees.
Through their involvement, students gained recognition and visibility, including a shoutout from the CEO of BlerdCon. This cultural experience not only allowed them to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere but also helped them form meaningful connections that could enhance their personal and professional growth across different fields.

Advertisement and Advocacy
During the first three weeks of the Fall Semester, I provided students with information about BlerdCon and shared details about my internship. I participated in events, assisted with planning and coordination, and gathered VCDM students for small graphic design projects. On September 17th and 19th, students signed up on a volunteer form for our BlerdCon trip in the Spring Semester. My goal is to help students experience BlerdCon while encouraging them to serve and give back to the community.
We will be moving on to the next phase which will be going over the various departments for students to choose where they want to volunteer. Also gathering students to connect them with various artists in VCDM and Digital Graphics Field. I will be having meetings with faculty at Bowie State as well as staff from BlerdCon. We are actually sending students from NBO to attend an event for BlerDCon DC in hopes to give students an opportunity to network with artists of various mediums.

Recruitment Part 2
I am collaborating with the graphic designers at BlerdCon to create opportunities for students in the digital arts field. We have established a connection with New Blerd Order, which provides students the chance to engage with potential mentors in the industry. This initiative aims to enhance their professional development and networking opportunities.
I am working to diversify the various departments within BlerdCon to better accommodate a wide range of student interests. By focusing on areas such as programming, DJing, graphic design, animation, marketing, advertising, and guest relations, we aim to create a comprehensive experience that appeals to a spectrum of talents and skill sets.

Week 1
Recruitment Part 1
I completed my internship from July 10th to 14th at BlerdCon in Crystal City, VA. I began my internship during the second week of the semester, focusing on recruitment efforts. My role involves collaborating with Hilton George, the CEO of the convention, and participating in various events and activities. I aim to establish effective connections for students, providing them with opportunities through a structured pipeline.
Starting this coming week, I will be working closely with Mrs. Princess, the Programming Director, to strengthen the partnership between Bowie State University and BlerdCon. This initiative will allow students to volunteer for community service at the convention, offering them the chance to enjoy a unique experience in exchange for their contributions.
